Psalm 149

English Standard Version

1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! (Ps 33:3; Ps 89:5; Ps 89:7; Ps 148:14)2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! (1Sa 12:12; Job 35:10; Ps 85:6; Ps 95:6; Zec 9:9)3 Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! (Ex 15:20; Ps 30:11; Ps 150:3; Ps 150:4)4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. (Ps 35:27; Ps 147:11; Isa 61:3)5 Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. (Job 35:10; Ps 4:4; Ps 63:6; Ho 7:14)6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, (Ps 66:17; Pr 5:4; Heb 4:12; Re 1:16; Re 2:12)7 to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples,8 to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, (Job 36:8)9 to execute on them the judgment written! This is honor for all his godly ones. Praise the Lord! (Job 13:26; Ps 148:14; Isa 65:6)
