1These are the inheritances that the people of Israel received in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the people of Israel gave them to inherit. (Nu 34:17; Jos 17:4; Jos 21:1)2Their inheritance was by lot, just as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses for the nine and one-half tribes. (Nu 26:56; Nu 33:54; Nu 34:13)3For Moses had given an inheritance to the two and one-half tribes beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them. (Jos 13:8; Jos 13:33)4For the people of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. And no portion was given to the Levites in the land, but only cities to dwell in, with their pasturelands for their livestock and their substance. (Ge 48:5; 1Ch 5:1)5The people of Israel did as the Lord commanded Moses; they allotted the land. (Nu 35:1; Jos 21:2)
Caleb’s Request and Inheritance
6Then the people of Judah came to Joshua at Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God in Kadesh-barnea concerning you and me. (Nu 14:24; Nu 14:30; Nu 32:12; De 1:36; De 1:38; Jos 14:13; Jos 15:17)7I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought him word again as it was in my heart. (Nu 13:6; Nu 13:16; Nu 13:30; Nu 14:6)8But my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; yet I wholly followed the Lord my God. (Nu 13:31; De 1:28)9And Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden shall be an inheritance for you and your children forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ (Nu 14:24; De 1:36; Jos 1:3)10And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, just as he said, these forty-five years since the time that the Lord spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. And now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. (Nu 14:30; Jos 14:7)11I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming. (De 31:2; De 34:7)12So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the Lord said.” (Nu 13:28; Nu 13:33)13Then Joshua blessed him, and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. (Jos 10:36; Jos 15:13; Jos 21:11; Jos 22:6; Jud 1:20; 1Ch 6:55)14Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord, the God of Israel. (Jos 14:8)15Now the name of Hebron formerly was Kiriath-arba.[1] (Arba[2] was the greatest man among the Anakim.) And the land had rest from war. (Ge 23:2; Ge 35:27; Jos 10:36; Jos 11:23; Jos 14:13; Jud 1:10)

(Nu 34:14; Jos 13:8; Jos 13:14; Jos 13:33)4Denn die Söhne Josephs bildeten zwei Stämme, Manasse und Ephraim. Den Leviten aber gab man keinen Teil am Landbesitz, sondern nur Städte, in denen sie wohnen konnten, und deren Weideplätze für ihr Vieh, das sie besaßen. (Ge 48:5; Nu 35:2; Jos 21:2; 1Ch 5:1; 1Ch 5:2)5Wie es der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte, so machten es die Söhne Israels und verteilten das Land. (Nu 34:13)
Hebron wird Kaleb als Erbteil zugesprochen
6Da traten die Söhne Judas vor Josua in Gilgal, und Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes, der Kenisiter, sprach zu ihm: Du weißt, was der HERR zu Mose, dem Mann Gottes, meinet- und deinetwegen in Kadesch-Barnea gesagt hat. (Nu 13:6; Nu 13:26; Nu 14:24; Nu 32:12; De 1:36; De 33:1; 1Ch 23:14; Ps 90:1)7Ich war 40 Jahre alt, als mich Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, von Kadesch-Barnea aussandte, das Land auszukundschaften, und ich brachte ihm Bericht, so wie es mir ums Herz war. (Nu 13:30; Nu 14:6)8Aber meine Brüder, die mit mir hinaufgezogen waren, machten dem Volk das Herz verzagt; ich aber folgte dem HERRN, meinem Gott, ganz nach. (Ex 23:2; Nu 13:31; Nu 14:1; Nu 14:24; De 1:36; Ps 1:1; Mt 7:13)9Da schwor mir Mose an jenem Tag und sprach: »Das Land, auf das du mit deinem Fuß getreten bist, soll dein Erbteil sein und das deiner Kinder auf ewig, denn du bist dem HERRN, meinem Gott, ganz nachgefolgt!« (Jos 1:3; Ps 37:9)10Und nun, siehe, der HERR hat mich leben lassen, wie er es mir zugesagt hatte. Und es sind nunmehr 45 Jahre, seit der HERR dies zu Mose sagte, als Israel in der Wüste wanderte. Und nun siehe, ich bin heute 85 Jahre alt, (Nu 14:30; Nu 14:33; Jos 11:18; Jos 24:29)11und ich bin noch heute so stark, wie ich war an dem Tag, als mich Mose aussandte; wie meine Kraft damals war, so ist sie auch jetzt, zu kämpfen und aus- und einzuziehen. (Ex 17:9; De 31:7; De 33:25; Ps 103:5; Isa 40:31)12Und nun, so gib mir dieses Bergland, von dem der HERR geredet hat an jenem Tag; denn du hast an jenem Tag gehört, dass die Enakiter darauf wohnen und dass es große und feste Städte hat; vielleicht wird der HERR mit mir sein, dass ich sie vertreibe, so wie der HERR geredet hat! (Nu 13:28; Nu 13:33; De 9:1; Jos 1:5; Jos 1:9; 1Sa 14:6; 2Ch 14:10; Ps 44:4; Ro 8:31)13Da segnete ihn Josua und gab Kaleb, dem Sohn des Jephunne, Hebron als Erbteil. (Jos 15:13; Jos 22:6; Jud 1:20)14Daher wurde Hebron das Erbteil Kalebs, des Sohnes Jephunnes, des Kenisiters, bis zu diesem Tag, weil er dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, gänzlich nachgefolgt war. (Jos 14:9; 1Co 15:58)15Aber Hebron hieß vor Zeiten »Stadt Arbas«. Der war der größte Mann unter den Enakitern. — Und das Land ruhte aus vom Krieg. (Ge 23:2; Jos 11:23; Jos 15:13)
