1They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes.[1] (Mt 8:28; Lu 8:26)2And when Jesus[2] had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit.3He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, (Re 18:2)4for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him.5Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones.6And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before him. (Mt 8:2)7And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” (Ge 14:18; Nu 24:16; Ps 57:2; Da 3:26; Mt 4:3; Mt 4:6; Mt 14:33; Mt 26:63; Mr 1:26; Lu 1:32; Lu 6:35; Ac 8:7; Ac 16:17; Ac 19:13; Jas 2:19)8For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”9And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” (Mt 26:53)10And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country.11Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside,12and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.”13So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea.14The herdsmen fled and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened.15And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed[3] man, the one who had had the legion, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. (Mr 5:9; Lu 8:27)16And those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and to the pigs.17And they began to beg Jesus[4] to depart from their region. (Lu 5:8; Ac 16:39)18As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him.19And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” (Ps 66:16; Mr 1:44)20And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled. (Mt 4:25; Mr 7:31)
Jesus Heals a Woman and Jairus’s Daughter
21And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered about him, and he was beside the sea.22Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet (Mt 9:18; Lu 8:41; Lu 13:14; Ac 13:15; Ac 18:8; Ac 18:17)23and implored him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” (Mt 9:18; Mr 6:5; Mr 7:32; Mr 8:23; Mr 8:25; Mr 16:18; Lu 4:40; Lu 13:13; Ac 9:12; Ac 9:17; Ac 28:8)24And he went with him. And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him. (Mr 3:9; Mr 5:31)25And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, (Le 15:25)26and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse.27She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment.28For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.”29And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. (Mt 15:28; Mt 17:18; Mr 3:10)30And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?” (Lu 5:17; Lu 6:19; Lu 8:46; Ac 10:38)31And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’”32And he looked around to see who had done it.33But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.34And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” (Mr 5:29; Lu 7:50)35While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” (Mr 5:22; Lu 7:6; Joh 11:28)36But overhearing[5] what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” (Mr 5:35)37And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. (Mr 3:17; Mr 9:2; Mr 14:33)38They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus[6] saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly.39And when he had entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.” (Joh 11:4; Joh 11:11; Ac 20:10)40And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was. (Ac 9:40)41Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” (Mt 11:5; Mr 1:31; Lu 7:14; Lu 7:22; Joh 11:43)42And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement.43And he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat. (Mt 8:4; Mr 9:9)
1به اين ترتيب به آن طرف درياچه، به سرزمين جدریها رسيدند.2هنگامی كه عيسی پا به ساحل میگذاشت، شخصی كه گرفتار روح ناپاک بود از قبرستان بيرون آمد و به سوی او دويد.3اين مرد هميشه در قبرستان به سر میبرد، و هيچكس نمیتوانست حتی با زنجير نيز او را ببندد،4چون بارها او را به زنجير كشيده و دست و پايش را نيز در كُنده بسته بودند، ولی زنجيرها را پاره كرده و كُندهها را هم شكسته بود. او به قدری نيرومند بود كه كسی نمیتوانست او را رام كند.5روز و شب در كوهستان و قبرستان نعره میكشيد و خود را به سنگهای تيز میزد و زخمی میكرد.6وقتی عيسی را از دور ديد، دواندوان خود را به او رساند و در مقابلش به خاک افتاد.7-8عيسی به روح ناپاكی كه در آن مرد بود فرمان داد: «ای روح ناپاک از اين مرد خارج شو!» روح ناپاک از دهان آن مرد فريادی بلند برآورد و گفت: «ای عيسی، ای فرزند خدای متعال، برای چه به سراغ ما آمدهای؟ ترا به خدا مرا عذاب نده!»9عيسی از او پرسيد: «نام تو چيست؟» روح ناپاک از زبان مرد جواب داد: «نام من قُشون است، چون ما عدهٔ زيادی هستيم كه داخل اين مرد شدهايم.»10ارواح پليد شروع به خواهش و تمنا كردند كه از آن سرزمين بيرونشان نكند.11اتفاقاً يک گله خوک در بلندی كنار درياچه میچريدند.12پس ارواح پليد از او استدعا كرده، گفتند: «ما را داخل خوكها بفرست!»13عيسی خواهش آنها را پذيرفت؛ پس همهٔ روحهای ناپاک از آن مرد بيرون آمدند و داخل خوكها شدند و تمام آن گلهٔ بزرگ كه حدود دو هزار خوک بود، از سراشيبی تپه به درياچه ريختند و خفه شدند.14خوکچرانها به شهر و دهات اطراف فرار كردند و به هر جا كه میرسيدند، به مردم خبر میدادند، مردم با عجله میآمدند تا ماجرا را ببينند.15طولی نكشيد كه عدهٔ زيادی دور عيسی جمع شدند. ولی وقتی آن ديوانه را كه روح ناپاک داشت، ديدند كه آرام نشسته، لباسی پوشيده و كاملاً عاقل شده است، ترسيدند.16كسانی كه به چشم خود ديده بودند چه اتفاقی افتاده بود، آن را برای همه تعريف میكردند،17به طوری كه چيزی نگذشت كه جمعيت بزرگی جمع شدند و از عيسی خواهش كردند كه از سرزمينشان برود و ديگر كاری به كارشان نداشته باشد.18عيسی نيز به سوی قايق بازگشت تا آنجا را ترک گويد، ولی آن مردی كه شفا يافته بود از او خواهش كرد تا او را نيز همراه خود ببرد.19ولی عيسی خواهش او را نپذيرفت و به او فرمود: «به خانهات برگرد و به اقوام و آشنايانت بگو كه خدا برای تو چه كرده و چگونه لطف او شامل حال تو شده است.»20او نيز روانه شد و در تمام سرزمين دكاپوليس برای همه بازگو میكرد كه عيسی چه كار بزرگی برايش انجام داده، و همه از شنيدن آن مبهوت میشدند.
عيسی دختری را زنده میكند و زنی را شفا میبخشد
21عيسی سوار قايق شد و به آن سوی درياچه رفت. وقتی به ساحل رسيد، عدهٔ زيادی نزدش گرد آمدند.22در اين هنگام مردی به نام يايروس كه سرپرست عبادتگاه يهوديان آن شهر بود، خود را به عيسی رساند و در مقابل پايهای او به خاک افتاد.23او التماسكنان گفت: «دختر كوچكم در حال مرگ است؛ از شما خواهش میكنم بياييد و دستتان را بر او بگذاريد تا شفا يابد و نميرد.»24عيسی با او به راه افتاد. در همان حال، عدهٔ بيشماری نيز به دنبالش روانه شدند، و به قدری زياد بودند كه از هر طرف بر او فشار میآوردند.25در ميان آن جمعيت، زنی بود كه مدت دوازده سال خونريزی داشت.26با اينكه برای معالجه، به پزشكان بسياری مراجعه كرده بود و برای اين كار تمام دارايیاش را نيز از دست داده بود، ولی هيچ نتيجهای نگرفته بود بلكه برعكس رفتهرفته بدتر هم شده بود.27ولی او شنيده بود كه عيسی بيماران را شفا میبخشد. به همين دليل، خود را از ميان مردم به پشت سر عيسی رساند و به لباسش دست زد،28چون با خود گفته بود كه«اگر فقط دستم به لباسش برسد، شفا پيدا میكنم.»29پس همين كار را كرد و خونريزیاش قطع شد و خود نيز متوجه شد كه شفا يافته است.30عيسی نيز فوراً احساس كرد كه از وجودش نيرويی خارج شد. پس به اطراف نگاهی كرد و پرسيد: «چه كسی به لباس من دست زد؟»31شاگردانش با تعجب به او گفتند: «میبينيد كه از همه طرف به شما فشار میآورند، و میپرسيد چه كسی به شما دست زد؟»32ولی عيسی همچنان به اطراف نگاه میكرد تا كسی را كه به لباسش دست زده بود پيدا كند.33آن زن كه آگاه بود چه اتفاقی برايش افتاده، با ترس و لرز پيش آمد و در مقابل پايهای عيسی به زمين افتاد و گفت كه چه كرده است.34عيسی به او فرمود: «دخترم، ايمانت تو را شفا داده! به سلامت برو و هميشه سالم باش!»35هنگامی كه عيسی مشغول صحبت بود، از خانهٔ يايروس خبر آوردند كه دخترش فوت كرده و ديگر لزومی ندارد مزاحم عيسی شود.36وقتی عيسی اين را شنيد، فوراً رو به يايروس كرد و فرمود: «نترس! فقط به من ايمان داشته باش!»37اين را گفت و اجازه نداد غير از پطرس، يعقوب و يوحنا كسی ديگر همراهش به خانهٔ يايروس برود.38وقتی به خانهٔ يايروس رسيدند، ديدند عدهای پريشانحال، با صدای بلند شيون و زاری میكنند.39عيسی داخل شد و به ايشان فرمود: «چرا گريه و زاری راه انداختهايد؟ دختر نمرده، خوابيده است.»40مردم با شنيدن اين سخن، خندهٔ تلخی كرده، او را مسخره نمودند؛ ولی عيسی همه را بيرون كرد و با پدر و مادر و آن سه شاگرد، وارد اتاقی شد كه دختر در آن آراميده بود.41عيسی دستش را گرفت و فرمود: «دخترم، بلند شو!»42آن دختر كه دوازده سال بيشتر نداشت، فوری برخاست و شروع به راه رفتن كرد. پدر و مادرش با ديدن اين معجزه، غرق در حيرت و شگفتی شدند.43عيسی با تأكيد بسيار به ايشان فرمود تا ماجرا را به كسی نگويند و گفت كه به دختر غذا دهند.
