Deborah and Barak

1 And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord after Ehud died. (Jud 2:19) 2 And the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-hagoyim. (Jos 11:1; Jos 11:10; Jud 2:14; Jud 4:13; Jud 4:16; 1Sa 12:9; Ps 83:9)

3 Then the people of Israel cried out to the Lord for help, for he had 900 chariots of iron and he oppressed the people of Israel cruelly for twenty years. (Jud 1:19; Jud 3:9; Jud 4:13) 4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5 She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment. (Jos 24:33) 6 She sent and summoned Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh-naphtali and said to him, “Has not the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded you, ‘Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking 10,000 from the people of Naphtali and the people of Zebulun. (Jos 19:37; Jud 8:18; Heb 11:32) 7 And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin’s army, to meet you by the river Kishon with his chariots and his troops, and I will give him into your hand’?” (Jud 3:28; Jud 4:13; Jud 5:21; 1Ki 18:40; Ps 83:9)

8 Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, I will go, but if you will not go with me, I will not go.” 9 And she said, “I will surely go with you. Nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. (Jud 2:14) 10 And Barak called out Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh. And 10,000 men went up at his heels, and Deborah went up with him. (Jud 5:18) 11 Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh. (Nu 10:29; Jos 19:33; Jud 1:16) 12 When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor, 13 Sisera called out all his chariots, 900 chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-hagoyim to the river Kishon. (Jud 4:3) 14 And Deborah said to Barak, “Up! For this is the day in which the Lord has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the Lord go out before you?” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men following him. (De 9:3; Jud 4:7; 2Sa 5:24; Ps 68:7; Isa 52:12)

15 And the Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak by the edge of the sword. And Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. (Jos 10:10; Jud 4:23; Ps 83:9) 16 And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left. 17 But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 And Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord; turn aside to me; do not be afraid.” So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug. 19 And he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him. (Jud 5:25) 20 And he said to her, “Stand at the opening of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, ‘Is anyone here?’ say, ‘No.’” 21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand. Then she went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple until it went down into the ground while he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died. 22 And behold, as Barak was pursuing Sisera, Jael went out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” So he went in to her tent, and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple. 23 So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel. (Jud 4:15) 24 And the hand of the people of Israel pressed harder and harder against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

دبوره

1 بعد از مرگ ايهود، مردم اسرائيل بار ديگر نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزيدند. 2-3 پس خداوند آنها را مغلوب يابين، پادشاه كنعانی كه در حاصور سلطنت میكرد، نمود. فرماندهٔ قوای او سيسَرا بود كه در حروشت حقوئيم زندگی میكرد. او نهصد عرابهٔ آهنين داشت و مدت بيست سال بر اسرائيلیها ظلم میكرد. سرانجام اسرائیلیها نزد خداوند فرياد برآوردند و از او كمک خواستند. 4 در آن زمان رهبر بنیاسرائيل نبيهای به نام دبوره، همسر لفيدوت بود. 5 دبوره زير نخلی كه بين راه رامه و بيتئيل در كوهستان افرايم قرار دارد و به نخل دبوره معروف است، مینشست و مردم اسرائيل برای رسيدگی به شكايتهايشان نزد او میآمدند. 6 روزی او باراق، پسر ابينوعم را كه در قادش در سرزمين نفتالی زندگی میكرد، نزد خود احضار كرده، به وی گفت: «خداوند، خدای اسرائيل به تو دستور میدهد كه ده هزار نفر از قبايل نفتالی و زبولون را بسيج نموده، به كوه تابور ببری. 7 خداوند میفرمايد: من سيسرا را كه فرماندهٔ قوای يابين پادشاه است با تمام لشكر و عرابههايش به كنار رود قيشون میكشانم تا تو در آنجا ايشان را شكست دهی.» 8 باراق در پاسخ دبوره گفت: «فقط به شرطی میروم كه تو با من بيايی.» 9 دبوره گفت: «بسيار خوب، من هم با تو خواهم آمد. ولی بدان كه در اين جنگ افتخاری نصيب تو نخواهد شد زيرا خداوند سيسرا را به دست يک زن تسليم خواهد كرد.» پس دبوره برخاست و همراه باراق به قادش رفت. 10 وقتی باراق مردان زبولون و نفتالی را به قادش احضار كرد، ده هزار نفر نزد او جمع شدند. دبوره نيز همراه ايشان بود. 11 (حابر قينی، از ساير افراد قبيلهٔ قينی كه از نسل حوباب برادر زن موسی بودند جدا شده، نزديک درخت بلوطی در صعنايم كه مجاور قادش است چادر زده بود.) 12 وقتی سيسرا شنيد كه باراق و سپاه او در كوه تابور اردو زدهاند، 13 تمام سپاه خود را با نهصد عرابهٔ آهنين بسيج كرد و از حروشت حقوئيم به كنار رود قيشون حركت نمود. 14 آنگاه دبوره به باراق گفت: «برخيز، زيرا خداوند پيشاپيش تو حركت میكند. او امروز سيسرا را به دست تو تسليم میكند.» پس باراق با سپاه ده هزار نفرهٔ خود برای جنگ از دامنهٔ كوه تابور سرازير شد. 15 وقتی او به دشمن حمله برد خداوند سيسرا، سربازان و عرابهسوارانش را دچار ترس نمود و سيسرا از عرابهٔ خود بيرون پريده، پياده گريخت. 16 باراق و مردان او، دشمن و عرابههای آنها را تا حروشت حقوئيم تعقيب كردند و تمام سربازان سيسرا را كشتند و حتی يكی از آنها را زنده نگذاشتند. 17 اما سيسرا به چادر ياعيل، همسر حابر قينی گريخت زيرا ميان يابين، پادشاه حاصور و قبيلهٔ حابر قينی رابطهٔ دوستانه برقرار بود. 18 ياعيل به استقبال سيسرا بيرون آمده، به وی گفت: «سرورم، به چادر من بيا تا در امان باشی. نترس!» پس او وارد چادر شده دراز كشيد و ياعيل روی او لحافی انداخت. 19 سيسرا گفت: «تشنهام، خواهش میكنم كمی آب به من بده.» ياعيل مقداری شير به او داد و دوباره او را پوشانيد. 20 سيسرا به ياعيل گفت: «دم در چادر بايست و اگر كسی سراغ مرا گرفت، بگو كه چنين شخصی در اينجا نيست.» 21 طولی نكشيد كه سيسرا از فرط خستگی به خواب عميقی فرو رفت. آنگاه ياعيل يكی از ميخهای چادر را با چكشی برداشته آهسته بالای سر او رفت و ميخ را بر شقيقهٔ وی كوبيد و سرش را به زمين دوخت و او جابهجا مرد. 22 وقتی كه باراق برای پيدا كردن سيسرا سر رسيد، ياعيل به استقبالش شتافت و گفت: «بيا تا مردی را كه در جستجوی او هستی به تو نشان دهم.» پس باراق به دنبال او وارد چادر شده، ديد كه سيسرا در حالی که ميخ چادری در شقيقهاش فرو رفته، بر زمين افتاده و مرده است. 23 به اين طريق در آن روز خداوند اسرائيل را بر يابين، پادشاه كنعانی پيروز گردانيد. 24 از آن پس اسرائيلیها هر روز بيش از پيش بر يابين پادشاه مسلط شدند تا اينكه سرانجام او را نابود كردند.
