1The allotment of the people of Joseph went from the Jordan by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, into the wilderness, going up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel. (Jos 8:15; Jos 18:12)2Then going from Bethel to Luz, it passes along to Ataroth, the territory of the Archites. (Ge 28:19; Jos 18:13; Jud 1:23; Jud 1:26)3Then it goes down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, as far as the territory of Lower Beth-horon, then to Gezer, and it ends at the sea. (Jos 10:10; Jos 10:33)4The people of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance. (Jos 17:14)5The territory of the people of Ephraim by their clans was as follows: the boundary of their inheritance on the east was Ataroth-addar as far as Upper Beth-horon, (Jos 18:13)6and the boundary goes from there to the sea. On the north is Michmethath. Then on the east the boundary turns around toward Taanath-shiloh and passes along beyond it on the east to Janoah, (Jos 17:7)7then it goes down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah, and touches Jericho, ending at the Jordan. (1Ch 7:28)8From Tappuah the boundary goes westward to the brook Kanah and ends at the sea. Such is the inheritance of the tribe of the people of Ephraim by their clans, (Jos 17:8)9together with the towns that were set apart for the people of Ephraim within the inheritance of the Manassites, all those towns with their villages. (Jos 16:8)10However, they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites have lived in the midst of Ephraim to this day but have been made to do forced labor. from Biblica1-4مرز جنوبی زمينی كه به حكم قرعه به بنیيوسف (افرايم و منسی) تعلق گرفت، از آن قسمت رود اردن كه نزديک اريحاست، يعنی از شرق چشمههای اريحا شروع میشد و از صحرا گذشته، به ناحيهٔ كوهستانی بيتئيل میرسيد. سپس از بيتئيل به طرف لوز و عطاروت در سرحد سرزمين اركیها امتداد میيافت و بعد به سمت مغرب به سرحد سرزمين يفليطیها تا كنار بيتحورون پايين و تا جازر كشيده شده، انتهايش به دريای مديترانه میرسيد.
زمينهای قبايل افرايم و منسی افرايم
5-6اين است زمينی كه به خاندانهای قبيلهٔ افرايم داده شد: مرز شرقی اين زمين از عطاروت ادار شروع میشد و از آنجا تا بيتحورون بالا امتداد میيافت و به دريای مديترانه میرسيد. مرز شمالی، از دريای مديترانه شروع شده، به سمت مشرق كشيده میشد و از مكميته میگذشت و به تعنت شيلوه و يانوحه میرسيد.7از يانوحه به سمت جنوب كشيده شده، به طرف عطاروت و نعره پايين آمده، به اريحا میرسيد و به رود اردن منتهی میشد.8سپس از آنجا به طرف غرب كشيده شده، از تفوح به درهٔ قانه میرسيد و به دريای مديترانه ختم میشد. اين است زمينی كه به خاندانهای قبيله افرايم به ملكيت داده شد.9علاوه بر اين، بعضی از شهرهايی كه در سرحد خاک نصف قبيلهٔ منسی بود با روستاهای اطراف به قبيلهٔ افرايم داده شد.10ولی آنها كنعانيهايی را كه در جازر ساكن بودند بيرون نكردند و کنعانیها تا امروز در ميان قبيلهٔ افرايم به صورت برده زندگی میكنند.
