1Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. 1Steh auf, ‹Jerusalem›, und leuchte! / Denn dein Licht ist gekommen, / und die Herrlichkeit Jahwes strahlt über dir!2Noch hüllt Finsternis die Erde ein, / tiefes Dunkel alle Völker. / Doch über dir strahlt Jahwe auf, / seine Herrlichkeit erscheint über dir.3Ganze Völker ziehen zu deinem Licht hin, / Könige zu deinem strahlenden Glanz.4Schau dich um und sieh es dir an! / Sie strömen von allen Seiten zu dir. / Deine Söhne kommen von fern, / deine Töchter trägt man auf den Armen herbei.5Du wirst es sehen und strahlen vor Glück, / dein Herz bebt vor Freude und öffnet sich weit. / Die Schätze der Völker werden zu dir gebracht, / der Reichtum des Meeres strömt dir zu.6Kamelkarawanen bedecken dein Land, / junge Dromedare von Efa und Midian.[1] / Von Saba[2] kommen sie mit Weihrauch und Gold / und verkündigen mit Freude das Lob Jahwes.7Alle Schafherden Kedars sammeln sich bei dir, / die Schafböcke von Nebajot[3] stehen in deinem Dienst. / Als angenehme Opfer kommen sie auf meinen Altar. / So ehre ich mein herrliches Haus. (Isa 21:16)8Was kommt da wie eine Wolke geflogen, / wie Tauben zu ihren Löchern in der steilen Wand?9Ja, die Meeresländer hoffen auf mich, / die Hochseeschiffe fahren voran / und bringen deine Kinder von ferne herbei / und mit ihnen ihr Silber und Gold. / Das alles geschieht zur Ehre Jahwes, / denn der heilige Gott Israels hat dich herrlich gemacht.10Fremde werden deine Mauern wieder bauen, / und ihre Könige werden dir dienstbar sein. / In meinem Zorn habe ich dich zwar gestraft, / doch in Gnade erbarme ich mich über dich.11Stets hält man deine Tore offen, / Tag und Nacht sind sie nicht zu. / Den Reichtum der Völker bringt man zu dir, / und ihre Könige führt man herbei.12Denn jedes Volk und jedes Reich, das dir nicht dient, wird bald zugrunde gehen. / Diese Stämme werden völlig verheert.13Die Pracht des Libanon wird zu dir gebracht, / Zypressen, Platanen und Wacholderbäume. / Den Ort meines Heiligtums sollen sie schmücken, / zieren den Platz wo meine Füße stehn.14Die Söhne derer, die dich beugten, / kommen nun gebückt zu dir. / Die dich verspottet haben, / bücken sich nun zu deinen Fußsohlen hin. / Sie nennen dich „Zion Jahwes“, / Stadt, die dem Heiligen Israels gehört!15Du bist nicht mehr verlassen und verhasst, / eine Stadt, die von allen gemieden wird. / Ich mache dich zu einer ewigen Pracht, / zur Freude von Generationen.16Du wirst die Milch der Völker saugen, / wirst trinken an der Brust von Königen. / Du wirst erkennen, dass ich, Jahwe, dein Retter bin, / dass der starke Gott Jakobs dein Befreier ist.17Anstelle von Bronze bring ich dir Gold, / statt des Eisens bringe ich Silber herbei, / statt der Hölzer Erz / und Eisen anstelle der Steine. / Deine Verwaltung wird Frieden sein / und deine Regierung Gerechtigkeit.18Man hört nichts mehr von Gewalt in deinem Land, / von Verwüstung und Zerstörung in deinem Gebiet. / Du wirst deine Mauern „Rettung“ nennen / und deine Tore „Lob“.19Das Licht der Sonne wirst du künftig nicht mehr brauchen, / auch nicht mehr den Mondschein in der Nacht, / denn dein ewiges Licht wird Jahwe sein, / dein Gott leuchtet dir in herrlichem Glanz.20Darum wird deine Sonne niemals mehr untergehen, / dein Mond nimmt niemals ab, / denn Jahwe ist dann dein ewiges Licht. / Und deine Trauerzeit ist für immer vorbei.21Dein Volk wird nur aus Gerechten bestehen, / und das Land wird für immer ihr Eigentum sein; / ein blühender Garten, von Jahwe angelegt, / ein Werk seiner Hände zu seinem Ruhm.22Die kleinste Sippe wird eine Tausendschaft sein, / der Geringste ein gewaltiger Stamm. / Wenn die Zeit dafür gekommen ist, / führe ich, Jahwe, das alles ganz schnell herbei.
