1Ah, the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, and the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley of those overcome with wine! (Ho 7:5)2Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong; like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, like a storm of mighty, overflowing waters, he casts down to the earth with his hand. (Isa 8:7; Isa 28:15; Isa 28:18)3The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden underfoot; (Isa 28:1)4and the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley, will be like a first-ripe fig[1] before the summer: when someone sees it, he swallows it as soon as it is in his hand. (Ho 9:10; Am 8:1; Mic 7:1)5In that day the Lord of hosts will be a crown of glory,[2] and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people, (Isa 2:11)6and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. (1Ki 3:28; Isa 38:6)7These also reel with wine and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are swallowed by[3] wine, they stagger with strong drink, they reel in vision, they stumble in giving judgment. (Isa 3:12; Isa 9:15; Isa 56:10; Isa 56:12; Ho 4:11)8For all tables are full of filthy vomit, with no space left.9“To whom will he teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, those taken from the breast? (Jer 6:10)10For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.”11For by people of strange lips and with a foreign tongue the Lord will speak to this people, (Isa 5:26; 1Co 14:21)12to whom he has said, “This is rest; give rest to the weary; and this is repose”; yet they would not hear. (Isa 30:15; Mt 11:28)13And the word of the Lord will be to them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little, that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. A Cornerstone in Zion
14Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scoffers, who rule this people in Jerusalem! (Isa 28:22; Isa 29:20)15Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have an agreement, when the overwhelming whip passes through it will not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge, and in falsehood we have taken shelter”; (Isa 8:7; Isa 28:2; Isa 28:18; Ro 1:25)16therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am the one who has laid[4] as a foundation in Zion, a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation: ‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’ (Ps 118:22; Isa 14:32; Mt 21:42; Ac 4:11; Ro 9:33; 1Pe 2:6)17And I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plumb line; and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and waters will overwhelm the shelter.” (2Ki 21:13)18Then your covenant with death will be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand; when the overwhelming scourge passes through, you will be beaten down by it. (Isa 28:15)19As often as it passes through it will take you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be sheer terror to understand the message. (2Ch 32:18; Isa 50:4)20For the bed is too short to stretch oneself on, and the covering too narrow to wrap oneself in.21For the Lord will rise up as on Mount Perazim; as in the Valley of Gibeon he will be roused; to do his deed—strange is his deed! and to work his work—alien is his work! (Jos 9:3; Jos 10:10; 2Sa 5:20; 1Ch 14:11; 1Ch 14:16)22Now therefore do not scoff, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord God of hosts against the whole land. (Isa 10:23; Isa 28:14)23Give ear, and hear my voice; give attention, and hear my speech.24Does he who plows for sowing plow continually? Does he continually open and harrow his ground?25When he has leveled its surface, does he not scatter dill, sow cumin, and put in wheat in rows and barley in its proper place, and emmer[5] as the border? (Isa 55:10)26For he is rightly instructed; his God teaches him. (Isa 21:10)27Dill is not threshed with a threshing sledge, nor is a cart wheel rolled over cumin, but dill is beaten out with a stick, and cumin with a rod.28Does one crush grain for bread? No, he does not thresh it forever;[6] when he drives his cart wheel over it with his horses, he does not crush it.29This also comes from the Lord of hosts; he is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom. (Isa 9:6; Jer 32:19)
1Wehe der stolzen Krone der Betrunkenen, / dem welkenden Kranz seiner herrlichen Pracht, / der Hauptstadt über dem fetten Tal,[1] / dem Stolz aller Weinseligen von Efraïm.2Schon hält der Herr einen Starken und Mächtigen bereit. / Er kommt wie ein Hagelwetter, / wie ein verheerender Sturm, / wie ein Wolkenbruch mit mächtiger Wasserflut, / der alles mit Wucht zu Boden reißt.3Zertrampeln wird er die stolze Krone der Betrunkenen von Efraïm.4Der welkenden Blüte seiner prächtigen Zier, / der Hauptstadt über dem fetten Tal, / wird es gehen wie der frühen Feige vor der Ernte: / Der Erste, der sie erblickt, / pflückt sie schnell ab und verschlingt sie sofort.5An dem Tag wird Jahwe, der allmächtige Gott, zu einer herrlichen Krone für den Rest seines Volks / und zu einem prachtvollen Kranz.6Er wird zum Geist des Rechts für den, der zu Gericht sitzen muss, / und zur Heldenkraft für den, der den Feind aus der Stadt vertreibt.7Doch auch diese hier schwanken, berauscht vom Wein, / und taumeln, benebelt vom Bier: / Priester und Propheten sind betrunken, / schwanken vom Bier und sind benebelt vom Wein. / Sie torkeln, wenn sie weissagen, und taumeln im Gericht.8Ihre Tische sind von Erbrochenem voll, / alles ist besudelt, kein Platz ist frei davon.9Und dann sagen sie: „Wem will der denn Einblick geben? / Wem will der erzählen, was Gott will? / Sind wir denn kleine Kinder, / eben von der Muttermilch entwöhnt / und von den Brüsten abgesetzt?10Was soll das Zaw-la-zaw, zaw-la-zaw / und kaw-la-kaw, kaw-la-kaw,[2] / hier ein wenig, dort ein wenig?“11Ja, durch Menschen mit stammelnden Lippen und fremden Sprachen / sagt Gott sein Wort zu diesem Volk.[3] (1Co 14:21)12Er hatte zu ihnen gesagt: „So findet ihr Ruhe. / Gönnt doch den Müden die Rast! / Ich biete euch Sicherheit!“ / Aber sie wollten nicht hören.13Darum wird Jahwe sie hören lassen: / „Zaw-la-zaw, zaw-la-zaw / und kaw-la-kaw, kaw-la-kaw, / hier ein wenig, dort ein wenig.“ / Nach hinten stürzen sie und brechen sich das Genick. / Sie laufen den Feinden ins Netz, / gefangen führt man sie fort.14Darum hört das Wort Jahwes, ihr Lästermäuler, / ihr Herrscher von Jerusalem!15Ihr prahlt, mit dem Tod im Bund zu sein. / Ihr habt mit dem Totenreich einen Vertrag? / Ihr glaubt, wenn die Katastrophe kommt, geht sie an euch vorbei, / denn ihr hättet Lügen zu eurer Zuflucht gemacht, / euch abgesichert durch Betrug?16Darum spricht Jahwe, der Herr: / Seht her, ich habe auf dem Zionsberg ein festes Fundament gelegt: / Es ist ein erprobter Block, ein kostbarer Eckstein, ein felsenfester Grund. / Wer ihm vertraut, hält ebenso stand.[4] (Ro 9:33; Ro 10:11; 1Pe 2:6)17Als Richtschnur nehme ich das Recht / und als Waage die Gerechtigkeit. / Der Hagelsturm fegt eure Lügenzuflucht weg, / und Wasser überflutet das Versteck.18Euer Bündnis mit dem Tod ist dann gelöst, / und mit dem Totenreich ist der Vertrag gelöscht. / Und wenn die Katastrophe wie eine Flut über euch kommt, / seid ihr nur noch zertretenes Land.19Sooft sie heranbraust, reißt sie euch mit, / und Morgen für Morgen tobt sie heran. / Selbst in der Nacht habt ihr keine Ruhe mehr. / Und jedes Prophetenwort wird euch eine Schreckensnachricht sein.20Ja, „das Bett ist zu kurz, um sich auszustrecken / und die Decke zu schmal, um sich einzuwickeln.“21Denn Jahwe wird sich erheben wie am Berg Perazim, / er wird toben wie im Tal von Gibeon.[5] / Doch was er tut, wird euch befremden, / sein Werk wird euch unheimlich sein. (Jos 10:10; 2Sa 5:20)22Darum lasst jetzt euren Spott, damit man eure Fesseln nicht noch fester zieht! / Denn ein „Zunichte!“ habe ich gehört vom Herrn der ganzen Erde, / ein „Entschieden!“ von Jahwe, dem allmächtigen Gott.23Horcht auf und hört meine Stimme! / Gebt Acht und hört auf mein Wort!24Pflügt der Bauer denn den ganzen Tag zur Vorbereitung auf die Saat? / Eggt er denn jeden Tag sein Ackerland?25Nein, wenn er die Äcker geebnet hat, streut er Dill und Kümmel aus, / sät Weizen, Hirse, Gerste auf sein Feld und Dinkel an den Rand.26So unterwies ihn sein Gott, / belehrte ihn, wie er vorgehen soll.27Dill drischt man nicht mit Dreschschlitten[6] aus, / und das Wagenrad wird nicht über Kümmel gerollt. / Dill wird mit dem Stab geklopft / und Kümmel mit dem Stock.28Auch das Brotkorn wird nicht zermalmt, / nicht dauernd drischt der Drescher darauf ein. / Er sorgt dafür, dass weder Wagenräder darüber rollen / noch Pferdehufe es zerstampfen.29Auch das weiß er von Jahwe, dem allmächtigen Gott. / Gottes Pläne sind zum Staunen, / er führt sie immer zum Erfolg.
