Thanksgiving and Prayer
3We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, (Eph 1:15; Phm 1:4)4since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, (1Th 1:3)5because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, (Ac 23:6; Eph 1:13; Col 1:23; 2Ti 4:8; Tit 1:2; Heb 3:6; 1Pe 1:4)6which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth, (Ps 98:3; Mt 24:14; Joh 15:5; Joh 15:16; Ac 11:23; Ro 16:26; Eph 4:21; Php 1:11; Col 1:23)7just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant.[2] He is a faithful minister of Christ on your[3] behalf (Col 4:7; Col 4:12; Phm 1:23)8and has made known to us your love in the Spirit. The Preeminence of Christ
15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. (Ps 89:27; Ro 8:29; 2Co 4:4; 1Ti 1:17)16For by[6] him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. (Eze 10:1; Ro 11:36; 1Co 8:6; Eph 1:10; Eph 1:21)17And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Joh 1:1; Joh 8:58; Heb 1:3)18And he is the head of the body, the church. Paul’s Ministry to the Church
24Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, (2Co 1:5; 2Co 7:4; Eph 4:12; 2Ti 1:8; 2Ti 2:10)25of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, (Eph 3:2; Col 1:23)26the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. Acción de gracias e intercesión
3Siempre que oramos por ustedes, damos gracias a Dios, el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,4pues hemos recibido noticias de su fe en Cristo Jesús y del amor que tienen por todos los santos5a causa de la esperanza reservada para ustedes en el cielo. De esta esperanza ya han sabido por la palabra de verdad, que es el evangelio6que ha llegado hasta ustedes. Este evangelio está dando fruto y creciendo en todo el mundo, como también ha sucedido entre ustedes desde el día en que supieron de la gracia de Dios y la comprendieron plenamente.7Así lo aprendieron de Epafras, nuestro querido colaborador[2] y fiel servidor de Cristo para el bien de ustedes.8Fue él quien nos contó del amor que tienen en el Espíritu.9Por eso, desde el día en que lo supimos no hemos dejado de orar por ustedes. Pedimos que Dios les haga conocer plenamente su voluntad con toda sabiduría y comprensión espiritual,10para que vivan de manera digna del Señor, agradándole en todo. Esto implica dar fruto en toda buena obra, crecer en el conocimiento de Dios11y ser fortalecidos en todo sentido con su glorioso poder. Así perseverarán con paciencia en toda situación,12dando gracias con alegría al Padre. Él los[3] ha facultado para participar de la herencia de los santos en el reino de la luz.13Él nos libró del dominio de la oscuridad y nos trasladó al reino de su amado Hijo,14en quien tenemos redención,[4] el perdón de pecados.
La supremacía de Cristo
15Él es la imagen del Dios invisible, el primogénito[5] de toda creación,16porque por medio de él fueron creadas todas las cosas en el cielo y en la tierra, visibles e invisibles, sean tronos, poderes, principados o autoridades: todo ha sido creado por medio de él y para él.17Él es anterior a todas las cosas, que por medio de él forman un todo coherente.[6]18Él es la cabeza del cuerpo, que es la iglesia. Él es el principio, el primogénito de la resurrección, para ser en todo el primero.19Porque a Dios le agradó habitar en él con toda su plenitud20y, por medio de él, reconciliar consigo todas las cosas, tanto las que están en la tierra como las que están en el cielo, haciendo la paz mediante la sangre que derramó en la cruz.21En otro tiempo ustedes, por su actitud y sus malas acciones, estaban alejados de Dios y eran sus enemigos.22Pero ahora Dios, a fin de presentarlos santos, intachables e irreprochables delante de él, los ha reconciliado en el cuerpo mortal de Cristo mediante su muerte,23con tal de que se mantengan firmes en la fe, bien cimentados y estables, sin abandonar la esperanza que ofrece el evangelio. Éste es el evangelio que ustedes oyeron y que ha sido proclamado en toda la creación debajo del cielo, y del que yo, Pablo, he llegado a ser servidor.
Trabajo de Pablo por la iglesia
24Ahora me alegro en medio de mis sufrimientos por ustedes, y voy completando en mí mismo[7] lo que falta de las aflicciones de Cristo, en favor de su cuerpo, que es la iglesia.25De ésta llegué a ser servidor según el plan que Dios me encomendó para ustedes: el dar cumplimiento a la palabra de Dios,26anunciando el misterio que se ha mantenido oculto por siglos y generaciones, pero que ahora se ha manifestado a sus santos.27A éstos Dios se propuso dar a conocer cuál es la gloriosa riqueza de este misterio entre las naciones, que es Cristo en ustedes, la esperanza de gloria.28A este Cristo proclamamos, aconsejando y enseñando con toda sabiduría a todos los seres humanos, para presentarlos a todos perfectos en él.29Con este fin trabajo y lucho fortalecido por el poder de Cristo que obra en mí.
