1And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted much in David. (1Sa 18:1)2And Jonathan told David, “Saul my father seeks to kill you. Therefore be on your guard in the morning. Stay in a secret place and hide yourself.3And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak to my father about you. And if I learn anything I will tell you.”4And Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, “Let not the king sin against his servant David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his deeds have brought good to you. (Ge 42:22)5For he took his life in his hand and he struck down the Philistine, and the Lord worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood by killing David without cause?” (Jud 9:17; Jud 12:3; 1Sa 11:13; 1Sa 17:49; 1Sa 28:21; 1Ch 11:14; Mt 27:4)6And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan. Saul swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be put to death.” (Ru 3:13)7And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan reported to him all these things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before. (1Sa 16:21; 1Sa 18:2; 1Sa 18:13)8And there was war again. And David went out and fought with the Philistines and struck them with a great blow, so that they fled before him.9Then a harmful spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand. And David was playing the lyre. (1Sa 16:14; 1Sa 16:16)10And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night. (1Sa 18:11; 1Sa 20:33)11Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him, that he might kill him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, told him, “If you do not escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”12So Michal let David down through the window, and he fled away and escaped. (Jos 2:15; Ac 9:24; 2Co 11:33)13Michal took an image[1] and laid it on the bed and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head and covered it with the clothes. (Ge 31:19)14And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”15Then Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”16And when the messengers came in, behold, the image was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head. (1Sa 19:13)17Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me thus and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” And Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go. Why should I kill you?’” (2Sa 2:22)18Now David fled and escaped, and he came to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and lived at Naioth. (1Sa 1:19)19And it was told Saul, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”20Then Saul sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. (Nu 11:25; 1Sa 10:5; 1Sa 10:10; Joe 2:28)21When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied. (1Sa 19:20)22Then he himself went to Ramah and came to the great well that is in Secu. And he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” And one said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.” (1Sa 19:18)23And he went there to Naioth in Ramah. And the Spirit of God came upon him also, and as he went he prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah. (1Sa 18:10)24And he too stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and lay naked all that day and all that night. Thus it is said, “Is Saul also among the prophets?” (1Sa 10:11; 2Sa 6:20; Isa 20:2; Mic 1:8)

Îi voi vorbi despre tine și îți voi spune ce voi afla.4Ionatan l‑a vorbit de bine pe David tatălui său Saul, zicându‑i: – Să nu păcătuiască regele împotriva robului său David, pentru că el n‑a păcătuit împotriva ta, ci dimpotrivă, faptele sale ți‑au slujit foarte bine.5Și‑a riscat viața atunci când l‑a ucis pe filistean, iar DOMNUL a adus o mare victorie pentru tot Israelul. Tu ai văzut lucrul acesta și te‑ai bucurat. De ce atunci să păcătuiești împotriva unui sânge nevinovat, omorându‑l pe David fără niciun motiv?6Saul a ascultat de Ionatan și a jurat: – Viu este DOMNUL că David nu va fi omorât.7Atunci Ionatan l‑a chemat pe David și i‑a spus toate aceste cuvinte. Apoi Ionatan l‑a adus pe David la Saul și David a fost înaintea lui ca mai înainte.8Între timp a izbucnit din nou războiul. David a ieșit să lupte împotriva filistenilor și le‑a provocat o înfrângere așa de mare, încât aceștia au fugit dinaintea lui.9Într‑o zi, pe când Saul ședea în casa lui, duhul cel rău[1] de la DOMNUL a venit peste el. Saul ținea în mână o suliță, iar David cânta la liră. (1Sa 16:14)10Saul a încercat să‑l țintuiască pe David cu sulița de zid, însă acesta s‑a ferit de Saul, care a înfipt sulița în perete. Apoi David a fugit și a scăpat în noaptea aceea.11Atunci Saul a trimis niște mesageri la casa lui David ca să‑l pândească, iar dimineața să‑l omoare. Însă Mihal, soția lui David, l‑a înștiințat, zicând: „Dacă nu‑ți scapi viața în noaptea aceasta, mâine vei fi omorât.“12Mihal l‑a coborât pe David pe fereastră, iar acesta a fugit și a scăpat.13Apoi Mihal a luat terafimul[2], l‑a așezat în pat, i‑a pus pe cap niște păr de capră și l‑a acoperit cu o cuvertură. (1Sa 15:23)14Când Saul a trimis mesagerii să‑l captureze pe David, Mihal le‑a zis că este bolnav.15Dar Saul a trimis mesagerii înapoi să‑l vadă pe David, zicând: – Aduceți‑l la mine, în patul lui, ca să‑l omor.16Când au intrat mesagerii, iată că în pat se afla terafimul cu părul de capră pe cap.17Atunci Saul a întrebat‑o pe Mihal: – De ce m‑ai trădat în felul acesta și l‑ai lăsat pe dușmanul meu să plece și să scape? Mihal i‑a răspuns: – El mi‑a zis: „Lasă‑mă să plec, altfel te omor!“18David a fugit și a scăpat; s‑a dus la Samuel, la Rama și i‑a spus tot ceea ce i‑a făcut Saul. Apoi, împreună cu Samuel, a plecat și a locuit la Naiot.19L‑au înștiințat pe Saul de lucrul acesta, zicând: „Iată, David se află la Naiot, în Rama.“20Atunci Saul a trimis niște mesageri să‑l prindă pe David. Dar când aceștia au văzut o ceată de profeți profețind și pe Samuel stând în fruntea lor, Duhul lui Dumnezeu a venit peste oamenii lui Saul, astfel că și ei au profețit.21Când i s‑a spus lui Saul lucrul acesta, a trimis alți mesageri, dar și aceștia au profețit. Saul a trimis din nou mesageri, pentru a treia oară, dar și aceștia au profețit.22În cele din urmă, a plecat el însuși spre Rama. A ajuns la puțul[3] cel mare, care se află în Secu și a întrebat: – Unde sunt Samuel și David? Cineva i‑a răspuns: – Iată, sunt la Naiot, în Rama. (1Sa 13:6)23Atunci Saul s‑a îndreptat spre Naiot, în Rama. Însă Duhul lui Dumnezeu a venit și peste el, iar el și‑a continuat drumul profețind până ce a ajuns la Naiot, în Rama.24S‑a dezbrăcat și el de hainele sale și a profețit și el înaintea lui Samuel. A zăcut dezbrăcat toată ziua aceea și toată noaptea. De aceea se zice: „Este oare și Saul printre profeți?“
