The Pharisees Demand a Sign

The Leaven of the Pharisees and Herod

Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida

Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ

Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?18Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? Jesus predicts his death
31He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.32He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.33But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. ‘Get behind me, Satan!’ he said. ‘You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.’
The way of the cross
34Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.35For whoever wants to save their life[2] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.36What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?37Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?38If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.’

Jesus tells about his coming death

Peter took Jesus to one side and began to scold him.33Jesus turned and looked at his disciples. He scolded Peter. ‘Get behind me, Satan!’ he said. ‘You are not thinking about the things God cares about. Instead, you are thinking only about the things humans care about.’
You must pick up your cross
34Jesus called the crowd to him along with his disciples. He said, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must say no to themselves. They must pick up their cross and follow me.35Whoever wants to save their life will lose it. But whoever loses their life for me and for the good news will save it.36What good is it if someone gains the whole world but loses their soul?37Or what can anyone trade for their soul?38Suppose anyone is ashamed of me and my words among these adulterous and sinful people. Die blinden Jünger
14Die Jünger hatten vergessen, Brote mitzunehmen; nur ein einziges hatten sie im Boot dabei. (Mt 16:5)15Und er warnte sie: Gebt Acht, hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und dem Sauerteig des Herodes! (Lu 12:1)16Sie aber machten sich Gedanken, weil sie keine Brote bei sich hatten.17Als er das merkte, sagte er zu ihnen: Was macht ihr euch darüber Gedanken, dass ihr keine Brote habt? Die Heilung eines Blinden bei Betsaida

DER WEG JESU NACH JERUSALEM
Das Christusbekenntnis des Petrus und die erste Ankündigung von Leiden und Auferstehung Jesu
27Jesus ging mit seinen Jüngern in die Dörfer bei Cäsarea Philippi. Auf dem Weg fragte er die Jünger: Für wen halten mich die Menschen? (Mt 16:13; Lu 9:18)28Sie sagten zu ihm: Einige für Johannes den Täufer, andere für Elija, wieder andere für sonst einen von den Propheten. (Mr 6:14)29Da fragte er sie: Ihr aber, für wen haltet ihr mich? Simon Petrus antwortete ihm: Du bist der Christus! (Joh 11:27)30Doch er gebot ihnen, niemandem etwas über ihn zu sagen.31Dann begann er, sie darüber zu belehren: Der Menschensohn muss vieles erleiden und von den Ältesten, den Hohepriestern und den Schriftgelehrten verworfen werden; er muss getötet werden und nach drei Tagen auferstehen. (Mr 9:31; Mr 10:32)32Und er redete mit Freimut darüber. Da nahm ihn Petrus beiseite und begann, ihn zurechtzuweisen.33Jesus aber wandte sich um, sah seine Jünger an und wies Petrus mit den Worten zurecht: Tritt hinter mich, du Satan! Nachfolge und Selbstverleugnung
34Er rief die Volksmenge und seine Jünger zu sich und sagte: Wenn einer hinter mir hergehen will, verleugne er sich selbst, nehme sein Kreuz auf sich und folge mir nach. (Mt 8:22; Mt 10:38; Mr 8:28; Mr 14:66; Lu 9:23; Lu 14:27)35Denn wer sein Leben retten will, wird es verlieren; wer aber sein Leben um meinetwillen und um des Evangeliums willen verliert, wird es retten. (Mt 10:39; Lu 17:33; Joh 12:25)36Was nützt es einem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewinnt, dabei aber sein Leben einbüßt?37Um welchen Preis könnte ein Mensch sein Leben zurückkaufen?38Denn wer sich vor dieser treulosen und sündigen Generation meiner und meiner Worte schämt, dessen wird sich auch der Menschensohn schämen, wenn er mit den heiligen Engeln in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters kommt.
