1 “Thus says the Lord God: The gate of the inner court that faces east shall be shut on the six working days, but on the Sabbath day it shall be opened, and on the day of the new moon it shall be opened. (Eze 8:16; Eze 45:18; Eze 45:19)2 The prince shall enter by the vestibule of the gate from outside, and shall take his stand by the post of the gate. The priests shall offer his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate. Then he shall go out, but the gate shall not be shut until evening. (Eze 9:3; Eze 40:38; Eze 44:3; Eze 45:19)3 The people of the land shall bow down at the entrance of that gate before the Lord on the Sabbaths and on the new moons. (Eze 46:9)4 The burnt offering that the prince offers to the Lord on the Sabbath day shall be six lambs without blemish and a ram without blemish. 1 ‘ “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: the gate of the inner court facing east is to be shut on the six working days, but on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon it is to be opened.2 The prince is to enter from the outside through the portico of the gateway and stand by the gatepost. The priests are to sacrifice his burnt offering and his fellowship offerings. He is to bow down in worship at the threshold of the gateway and then go out, but the gate will not be shut until evening.3 On the Sabbaths and New Moons the people of the land are to worship in the presence of the Lord at the entrance of that gateway.4 The burnt offering the prince brings to the Lord on the Sabbath day is to be six male lambs and a ram, all without defect.5 The grain offering given with the ram is to be an ephah,[1] and the grain offering with the lambs is to be as much as he pleases, along with a hin[2] of olive oil for each ephah.6 On the day of the New Moon he is to offer a young bull, six lambs and a ram, all without defect.7 He is to provide as a grain offering one ephah with the bull, one ephah with the ram, and with the lambs as much as he wants to give, along with a hin of oil for each ephah.8 When the prince enters, he is to go in through the portico of the gateway, and he is to come out the same way.9 ‘ “When the people of the land come before the Lord at the appointed festivals, whoever enters by the north gate to worship is to go out by the south gate; and whoever enters by the south gate is to go out by the north gate. He is to give his sons their inheritance out of his own property, so that not one of my people will be separated from their property.” ’19 Then the man brought me through the entrance at the side of the gate to the sacred rooms facing north, which belonged to the priests, and showed me a place at the western end.20 He said to me, ‘This is the place where the priests are to cook the guilt offering and the sin offering[5] and bake the grain offering, to avoid bringing them into the outer court and consecrating the people.’21 He then brought me to the outer court and led me round to its four corners, and I saw in each corner another court.22 In the four corners of the outer court were enclosed[6] courts, forty cubits long and thirty cubits wide;[7] each of the courts in the four corners was the same size.23 Around the inside of each of the four courts was a ledge of stone, with places for fire built all round under the ledge.24 He said to me, ‘These are the kitchens where those who minister at the temple are to cook the sacrifices of the people.’

But open it on Sabbath days and during New Moon feasts.2 The prince must enter the temple area through the porch of the gateway. He must stand by the gatepost. The priests must sacrifice his burnt offering and friendship offerings. He must bow down in worship at the entrance of the gateway. Then he must leave. But the gate will not be shut until evening.3 On Sabbath days and during New Moon feasts the people of the land must gather together. They must gather at the entrance of the temple gateway. That is where they must worship me.4 The prince must bring a burnt offering to me on the Sabbath day. It will be six male lambs and a ram. They must not have any flaws.5 He must offer 15 kilograms of corn along with the ram. The corn he offers along with the lambs can be as much as he wants to give. He must also offer 4 litres of olive oil for every 15 kilograms of corn.6 On the day of the New Moon feast the prince must make another offering. He must offer a young bull, six lambs and a ram. They must not have any flaws.7 He must offer 15 kilograms of corn along with the bull or ram. The corn he offers along with the lambs can be as much as he wants to give. He must also offer 4 litres of olive oil for every 15 kilograms of corn.8 Here is how the prince must enter the temple area. He must go in through the porch of the gateway. And he must leave the same way.9 ‘The people of the land must worship me at the appointed feasts. Those who enter through the north gate must leave through the south gate. They will be used for a regular burnt offering.’16 The LORD and King says, ‘Suppose the prince makes a gift from his share of land. And he gives it to one of his sons. Then the property will also belong to his sons after him. It will be handed down to them.17 But suppose he makes a gift from his share of land to one of his servants. Then the servant may keep it until the Year of Jubilee. After that, it will be returned to the prince. His property may be handed down only to his sons. It belongs to them.18 The prince must not take any share of land that belongs to the people. He must not drive them off their property. He must give his sons their share out of his own property. Then not one of my people will be separated from their property.’19 The man brought me through the entrance at the side of the north building. That’s where the priests’ sacred rooms were located. He showed me a place west of the building.20 He said to me, ‘This is where the priests must cook the guilt offerings and sin offerings. They must also bake the grain offerings here. Then they will not have to bring the offerings into the outer courtyard. That will keep the people from touching the offerings and becoming holy.’21 Then the man brought me to the outer courtyard. He led me around to its four corners. In each corner I saw another smaller courtyard.22 So in the four corners of the outer courtyard were walled courtyards. Each one was 24 metres long and 18 metres wide. All of them were the same size.23 Around the inside of each of the four courtyards was a stone ledge. Places for fire were built all around under each ledge.24 The man said to me, ‘These are the kitchens. Those who serve at the temple must cook the people’s sacrifices here.’

Dann sollen die Priester sein Brandopfer und sein Heilsopfer darbringen, er aber soll sich an der Schwelle des Tors niederwerfen und wieder hinausgehen. Das Tor soll bis zum Abend nicht geschlossen werden. Nur seine Söhne dürfen behalten, was er ihnen von seinem Erbbesitz geschenkt hat.18 Vom Erbbesitz des Volkes darf der Fürst nichts nehmen; er darf sie nicht mit Gewalt von ihrem Eigentum verdrängen. Wenn er seinen Söhnen etwas vererben will, muss er es von seinem Eigentum nehmen, damit die Angehörigen meines Volkes nicht von ihrem Eigentum vertrieben werden.19 Dann brachte er mich durch den Eingang auf der Torseite zu den heiligen Priesterräumen im Norden und siehe, da war ein Ort am äußersten Ende im Westen.[2]20 Und er sagte zu mir: Das ist der Ort, an dem die Priester das Schuldopfer und das Sündopfer kochen und wo sie das Speiseopfer backen, damit sie es nicht in den äußeren Vorhof hinausbringen müssen und dadurch das Volk heiligen.21 Dann führte er mich in den äußeren Vorhof hinaus und er ließ mich hinübergehen zu den vier Ecken des Vorhofs. Und siehe, an jeder Ecke des Vorhofs war noch ein Hof.22 An allen vier Ecken des Vorhofs waren geschlossene Höfe, vierzig Ellen lang und dreißig Ellen breit.
