Ezekiel 2

English Standard Version

from Crossway
1 And he said to me, “Son of man,[1] stand on your feet, and I will speak with you.” (Eze 3:1; Eze 3:3; Eze 3:17; Eze 3:25; Eze 4:1; Eze 4:16; Eze 5:1; Da 10:11)2 And as he spoke to me, the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. (Eze 3:24; Da 8:18)3 And he said to me, “Son of man, I send you to the people of Israel, to nations of rebels, who have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me to this very day. (Eze 2:5; Eze 2:8; Eze 3:26; Eze 20:16; Eze 20:18; Eze 20:21; Eze 24:3; Eze 44:6)4 The descendants also are impudent and stubborn: I send you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ (Eze 3:7)5 And whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house) they will know that a prophet has been among them. (Eze 2:3; Eze 3:11; Eze 3:27; Eze 17:12; Eze 33:33)6 And you, son of man, be not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions.[2] Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. (De 8:15; 2Sa 23:6; Jer 1:8; Eze 3:9; Eze 28:24; Mic 7:4)7 And you shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house. (Eze 2:5)8 “But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Be not rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.” (Isa 50:5; Eze 3:1; Eze 3:3; Re 10:9)9 And when I looked, behold, a hand was stretched out to me, and behold, a scroll of a book was in it. (Jer 36:2; Eze 8:3; Da 10:10; Re 10:2)10 And he spread it before me. And it had writing on the front and on the back, and there were written on it words of lamentation and mourning and woe. (Re 5:1)

New International Version

from Biblica
1 He said to me, ‘Son of man,[1] stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.’2 As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.3 He said: ‘Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have been in revolt against me to this very day.4 The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says.”5 And whether they listen or fail to listen – for they are a rebellious people – they will know that a prophet has been among them.6 And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.7 You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.8 But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious people; open your mouth and eat what I give you.’9 Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out to me. In it was a scroll,10 which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.

Ezekiel 2

King James Version

1 And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.2 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.4 For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.7 And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.8 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

Ezekiel 2

New International Reader’s Version

from Biblica
1 He said to me, ‘Son of man, stand up on your feet. I will speak to you.’2 As he spoke, the Spirit of the LORD came into me. He raised me to my feet. I heard him speaking to me.3 He said, ‘Son of man, I am sending you to the people of Israel. That nation has refused to obey me. They have turned against me. They and their people of long ago have been against me to this day.4 The people I am sending you to are very stubborn. Tell them, “Here is what the LORD and King says.”5 They might listen, or they might not. After all, they refuse to obey me. But whether they listen or not, they will know that a prophet was among them.6 Son of man, do not be afraid of them or of what they say. Do not be afraid, even if thorns and bushes are all around you. Do not be afraid, even if you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say. Do not be terrified by them. They always refuse to obey me.7 You must give them my message. They might listen, or they might not. After all, they refuse to obey me.8 Son of man, listen to what I tell you. Do not be like those who refuse to obey me. Open your mouth. Eat what I give you.’9 Then I looked up. I saw a hand reach out to me. A scroll was in it.10 He unrolled it in front of me. Both sides had words written on them. They spoke about sadness, sorrow and trouble.
