1Now Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, “Keep the whole commandment that I command you today.2And on the day you cross over the Jordan to the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall set up large stones and plaster them with plaster. Curses from Mount Ebal
9Then Moses and the Levitical priests said to all Israel, “Keep silence and hear, O Israel: this day you have become the people of the Lord your God. (De 26:18)10You shall therefore obey the voice of the Lord your God, keeping his commandments and his statutes, which I command you today.”11That day Moses charged the people, saying,12“When you have crossed over the Jordan, these shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin. Baut einen Altar auf dem Berg Ebal und schreibt das Gesetz auf Steinmale
1Gemeinsam mit den führenden Männern Israels befahl Mose dem Volk: »Lebt nach allen Geboten, die ich euch heute gebe!2Wenn ihr über den Jordan in das Land zieht, das der HERR, euer Gott, euch geben will, sollt ihr ´dort` große Steine aufrichten. Streicht sie mit Kalk weiß an3und schreibt das ganze Gesetz Wort für Wort darauf. ´Tut dies`, sobald ihr den Jordan überquert habt. Dann werdet ihr das Land in Besitz nehmen[1], das der HERR euch geben will und das von Milch und Honig überfließt. So hat er, der Gott eurer Vorfahren, es euch versprochen.4Sobald ihr auf der anderen Seite des Jordans angekommen seid, sollt ihr die Steine auf dem Berg Ebal aufrichten und mit Kalk weiß anstreichen, wie ich es euch heute befehle.5Baut dort auch einen Altar für den HERRN, euren Gott. Verwendet dazu Steine, die noch nicht mit einem Meißel bearbeitet wurden.6Denn der Altar des HERRN soll aus unbehauenen Steinen gebaut werden. Bringt ihm darauf Brandopfer dar,7schlachtet Tiere für ein Gemeinschaftsopfer und haltet ein fröhliches Mal in der Gegenwart des HERRN, eures Gottes.8Und auf die ´getünchten` Steine schreibt klar und deutlich alle Weisungen des Gesetzes.«9Gemeinsam mit den Priestern aus dem Stamm Levi sagte Mose zu den versammelten Israeliten: »Volk Israel, sei still und höre: Heute seid ihr ein Volk geworden, das ganz dem HERRN, seinem Gott, gehört[2].10Darum hört auf seine Stimme und lebt nach seinen Geboten und Ordnungen, die ich euch heute verkündet habe.«
Segen und Fluch: Wen Gottes Fluch trifft
11Am selben Tag befahl Mose dem Volk:12»Wenn ihr den Jordan überquert habt, dann sollen sich die Stämme Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar, Josef und Benjamin auf dem Berg Garizim aufstellen, um die Segensworte auszurufen.13Die Stämme Ruben, Gad, Ascher, Sebulon, Dan und Naftali sollen ´ihnen gegenüber` auf dem Berg Ebal stehen und die Flüche ausrufen.[3] (Jos 8:30)14Die Priester aus dem Stamm Levi[4] sollen den Israeliten mit lauter Stimme zurufen: (Jos 8:30)15›Verflucht ist, wer ein geschnitztes oder gegossenes Götzenbild anfertigt und es heimlich aufstellt. Der HERR verabscheut ein solches Werk von Menschenhand.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll antworten: ›Amen!‹16›Verflucht ist, wer seinen Vater oder seine Mutter verachtet.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹17›Verflucht ist, wer den Grenzstein ´zwischen sich und` seinem Nachbarn versetzt.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹18›Verflucht ist, wer einen Blinden in die Irre führt.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹19›Verflucht ist, wer den Ausländern, Waisen und Witwen ihr Recht verweigert.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹20›Verflucht ist, wer mit der Frau seines Vaters schläft, denn damit entehrt er seinen Vater[5].‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹21›Verflucht ist, wer mit einem Tier sexuell verkehrt.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹22›Verflucht ist, wer mit seiner Schwester oder Halbschwester schläft.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹23›Verflucht ist, wer mit seiner Schwiegermutter schläft.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹24›Verflucht ist, wer einen anderen Menschen heimlich ermordet.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹25›Verflucht ist, wer sich bestechen lässt, einen Unschuldigen umzubringen.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹26›Verflucht ist, wer sich nicht ständig an die Weisungen dieses Gesetzes hält und nach ihnen lebt.‹ Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: ›Amen!‹«
