Psalm 137

How Shall We Sing the Lord’s Song?

1 By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion. 2 On the willows^[1] there we hung up our lyres. 3 For there our captors required of us songs, and our tormentors, mirth, saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!” 4 How shall we sing the LORD’s song in a foreign land? (Ne 2:3) 5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill! (Ps 76:5) 6 Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy! (Job 29:10; Eze 3:26) 7 Remember, O LORD, against the Edomites the day of Jerusalem, how they said, “Lay it bare, lay it bare, down to its foundations!” (Job 18:20; Isa 34:5; Isa 34:6; La 4:21; La 4:22; Eze 35:2; Am 1:11; Am 1:12; Hab 3:13; Zep 2:14)

1 عَلَى ضِفَافِ أَنْهَارِ بَابِلَ جَلَسْنَا، وَبَكَيْنَا عِنْدَمَا تَذَكَّرْنَا أُورُشَلِيمَ. 2 هُنَاكَ عَلَّقْنَا أَعْوَادَنَا عَلَى أَشْجَارِ الصَّفْصَافِ. 3 هُنَاكَ طَلَبَ مِنَّا الَّذِينَ سَبَوْنَا أَنْ نَشْدُوَ بِتَرْنِيمَةٍ، وَالَّذِينَ عَذَّبُونَا أَنْ نُطْرِبَهُمْ قَائِلِينَ: «أَنْشِدُوا لَنَا مِنْ تَرَانِيمِ صِهْيَوْنَ». 4 كَيْفَ نَشْدُو بِتَرْنِيمَةِ الرَّبِّ فِي أَرْضٍ غَرِيبَةٍ؟ 5 إِنْ نَسِيتُكِ يَا أُورُشَلِيمُ، فَلْتَنْسَ يَمِينِي مَهَارَتَهَا. 6 لِيَلْتَصِقْ لِسَانِي بِحَنَكِي إِنْ لَمْ أَذْكُرْكِ وَلَمْ أُفَضِّلْكِ عَلَى ذِرْوَةِ أَفْرَاحِي. 7 اذْكُرْ يَا رَبُّ لِبَنِي أَدُومَ مَا فَعَلُوهُ يَوْمَ خَرَابِ أُورُشَلِيمَ، إِذْ قَالُوا: «اهْدِمُوا اهْدِمُوا حَتَّى يَتَعَرَّى أَسَاسُهَا». 8 يَا بِنْتَ بَابِلَ الْمُحَتَّمِ خَرَابُهَا، طُوبَى لِمَنْ يُجَازِيكِ بِمَا جَزَيْتِنَا بِهِ. 9 طُوبَى لِمَنْ يُمْسِكُ صِغَارَكِ وَيَضْرِبُ بِهِمِ الصَّخْرَةَ.
