1 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, 2 saying, “I called out to the Lord, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. (Ps 3:4; Ps 118:5; Ps 120:1; La 3:55; La 3:56) 3 For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and your billows passed over me. (Ps 42:7; Ps 88:6) 4 Then I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; yet I shall again look upon your holy temple.’ (1Ki 8:35; 1Ki 8:38; Ps 31:22) 5 The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head (Ps 69:1; La 3:54) 6 at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God. 7 When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple. (2Ch 30:27) 8 Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love. (2Ki 17:15; Ps 31:6; Jer 2:5; Jer 2:13) 9 But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord!” (Ps 3:8; Ps 50:14; Ho 14:2; Heb 13:15) 10 And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.

1 Aber der HERR ließ einen großen Fisch kommen, Jona zu verschlingen. Und Jona war im Leibe des Fisches drei Tage und drei Nächte. (Mt 12:40; Mt 16:4) 2 Und Jona betete zu dem HERRN, seinem Gott, im Leibe des Fisches 3 und sprach: Ich rief zu dem HERRN in meiner Angst, und er antwortete mir. Ich schrie aus dem Rachen des Todes, und du hörtest meine Stimme. (Ps 120:1) 4 Du warfst mich in die Tiefe, mitten ins Meer, dass die Fluten mich umgaben. Alle deine Wogen und Wellen gingen über mich, (Ps 42:8) 5 dass ich dachte, ich wäre von deinen Augen verstoßen, ich würde deinen heiligen Tempel nicht mehr sehen. (Ps 31:23) 6 Wasser umgaben mich bis an die Kehle, die Tiefe umringte mich, Schilf bedeckte mein Haupt. (Ps 18:5; Ps 69:2) 7 Ich sank hinunter zu der Berge Gründen, der Erde Riegel schlossen sich hinter mir ewiglich. Aber du hast mein Leben aus dem Verderben geführt, HERR, mein Gott! (Ps 103:4) 8 Als meine Seele in mir verzagte, gedachte ich an den HERRN, und mein Gebet kam zu dir in deinen heiligen Tempel. (Ps 142:2) 9 Die sich halten an das Nichtige, verlassen ihre Gnade. (Ps 31:7) 10 Ich aber will mit Dank dir Opfer bringen. Meine Gelübde will ich erfüllen. Hilfe ist bei dem HERRN. (Ps 3:9; Ps 50:14; Ps 116:17) 11 Und der HERR sprach zu dem Fisch, und der spie Jona aus ans Land.
