The Call of Jeremiah
4Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Isa 44:2; Isa 49:6; Jer 25:15; Joh 10:36)6Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” (Ex 4:10; 1Ki 3:7)7But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. (Jer 1:17; Eze 2:7)8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” (Ex 3:12; Jer 15:20; Eze 2:6; Eze 3:9)9Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. (Jer 1:13)15For behold, I am calling all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north, declares the Lord, and they shall come, and every one shall set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, against all its walls all around and against all the cities of Judah. (Jer 25:9; Jer 39:3; Jer 43:10)16And I will declare my judgments against them, for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands. 4Und des HERRN Wort geschah zu mir:5Ich kannte dich, ehe ich dich im Mutterleibe bereitete, und sonderte dich aus, ehe du von der Mutter geboren wurdest, und bestellte dich zum Propheten für die Völker. (Isa 49:1; Ga 1:15)6Ich aber sprach: Ach, Herr HERR, ich tauge nicht zu predigen; denn ich bin zu jung. (Ex 4:10; Isa 6:5)7Der HERR sprach aber zu mir: Sage nicht: »Ich bin zu jung«, sondern du sollst gehen, wohin ich dich sende, und predigen alles, was ich dir gebiete.8Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen; denn ich bin bei dir und will dich erretten, spricht der HERR. (Ex 3:12)9Und der HERR streckte seine Hand aus und rührte meinen Mund an und sprach zu mir: Siehe, ich lege meine Worte in deinen Mund. (Ex 4:12; De 18:18; Isa 6:7)10Siehe, ich setze dich heute über Völker und Königreiche, dass du ausreißen und einreißen, zerstören und verderben sollst und bauen und pflanzen. Ich sprach: Ich sehe einen erwachenden Zweig.12Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Du hast recht gesehen; denn ich will wachen über meinem Wort, dass ich’s tue. (Jer 31:28)13Und es geschah des HERRN Wort zum zweiten Mal zu mir: Was siehst du? Ich sprach: Ich sehe einen siedenden Kessel überkochen von Norden her.14Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Von Norden her wird das Unheil losbrechen über alle, die im Lande wohnen. (Jer 4:6; Jer 6:1; Jer 6:22; Jer 10:22; Jer 25:9; Jer 50:41)15Denn siehe, ich will rufen alle Geschlechter der Königreiche des Nordens, spricht der HERR, dass sie kommen sollen und ihre Throne setzen vor die Tore Jerusalems und rings um die Mauern her und vor alle Städte Judas.16Und ich will mein Gericht über sie ergehen lassen um all ihrer Bosheit willen, dass sie mich verlassen und andern Göttern opfern und ihrer Hände Werk anbeten.17So gürte nun deine Lenden und mache dich auf und predige ihnen alles, was ich dir gebiete. Erschrick nicht vor ihnen, auf dass ich dich nicht erschrecke vor ihnen!18Denn ich will dich heute zur festen Stadt, zur eisernen Säule, zur ehernen Mauer machen wider das ganze Land: wider die Könige Judas, wider seine Großen, wider seine Priester, wider das Volk des Landes, (Jer 15:20; Eze 3:8)19dass, wenn sie auch wider dich streiten, sie dir dennoch nichts anhaben können; denn ich bin bei dir, spricht der HERR, dass ich dich errette.
