1 Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,^[1] because he burned to lime the bones of the king of Edom. (2Ki 3:27; Am 1:3; Zep 2:8) 2 So I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the strongholds of Kerioth, and Moab shall die amid uproar, amid shouting and the sound of the trumpet; (Jer 48:24; Jer 48:41) 3 I will cut off the ruler from its midst, and will kill all its princes^[2] with him,” says the Lord. (Jer 48:7)

4 Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have rejected the law of the Lord, and have not kept his statutes, but their lies have led them astray, those after which their fathers walked. 1 So spricht der HERR: Um der drei, ja der vier Frevel willen derer von Moab will ich es nicht zurücknehmen, weil sie die Gebeine des Königs von Edom verbrannt haben zu Kalk; (Isa 15:1; Jer 48:1) 2 sondern ich will Feuer schicken nach Moab, das soll die Paläste von Kerijot verzehren, und Moab soll sterben im Getümmel und Geschrei und Posaunenhall. 3 Und ich will den Herrscher aus seiner Mitte ausrotten und alle seine Oberen mit ihm töten, spricht der HERR. (Nu 24:17) 4 So spricht der HERR: Um der drei, ja der vier Frevel willen derer von Juda will ich es nicht zurücknehmen, weil sie des HERRN Gesetz verachteten und seine Ordnungen nicht hielten und sich von ihren Lügengötzen verführen ließen, denen ihre Väter nachgefolgt sind; 5 sondern ich will Feuer nach Juda schicken, das soll die Paläste von Jerusalem verzehren. (Ho 8:14) 6 So spricht der HERR: Um der drei, ja der vier Frevel willen derer von Israel will ich es nicht zurücknehmen, weil sie die Unschuldigen um Geld und die Armen um ein Paar Schuhe verkaufen. (Am 8:6) 7 Sie treten den Kopf der Armen in den Staub und drängen die Elenden vom Wege. Sohn und Vater gehen zu demselben Mädchen, um meinen heiligen Namen zu entheiligen. (Am 8:4) 8 Und bei allen Altären strecken sie sich aus auf den gepfändeten Kleidern und trinken Wein vom Gelde der Bestraften im Hause ihres Gottes. (Ex 22:25) 9 Und dabei habe ich den Amoriter vor ihnen her vertilgt, der so hoch war wie die Zedern und so stark wie die Eichen, und ich vertilgte oben seine Frucht und unten seine Wurzel. (Nu 21:21) 10 Auch habe ich euch aus Ägyptenland geführt und vierzig Jahre in der Wüste geleitet, damit ihr der Amoriter Land besäßet. 11 Und ich habe aus euren Söhnen Propheten erweckt und Gottgeweihte aus euren Jünglingen. Ist’s nicht so, ihr Israeliten?, spricht der HERR. (Nu 6:2) 12 Aber ihr habt den Gottgeweihten Wein zu trinken gegeben und den Propheten geboten: Ihr sollt nicht weissagen! (Jer 11:21; Am 7:13; Am 7:16) 13 Siehe, ich will’s unter euch schwanken machen, wie ein Wagen voll Garben schwankt, 14 sodass, wer schnell ist, nicht entfliehen noch der Starke etwas vermögen soll, und der Mächtige soll nicht sein Leben retten können. 15 Die Bogenschützen sollen nicht standhalten, und wer schnell laufen kann, soll nicht entrinnen, und wer da reitet, soll sein Leben nicht retten, 16 und wer unter den Starken der mannhafteste ist, soll nackt entfliehen müssen an jenem Tage, spricht der HERR.
