Ish-bosheth Murdered

1 When Ish-bosheth, Saul’s son, heard that Abner had died at Hebron, his courage failed, and all Israel was dismayed. (Ezr 4:4; Isa 13:7; Jer 6:24) 2 Now Saul’s son had two men who were captains of raiding bands; the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, sons of Rimmon a man of Benjamin from Beeroth (for Beeroth also is counted part of Benjamin; (Jos 18:25) 3 the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and have been sojourners there to this day). (1Sa 31:7; Ne 11:33) 4 Jonathan, the son of Saul, had a son who was crippled in his feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled, and as she fled in her haste, he fell and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth. (1Sa 29:1; 1Sa 29:11; 2Sa 9:3; 2Sa 9:6)

5 Now the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, set out, and about the heat of the day they came to the house of Ish-bosheth as he was taking his noonday rest. 6 And they came into the midst of the house as if to get wheat, and they stabbed him in the stomach. Then Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.^[1] (2Sa 2:23) 7 When they came into the house, as he lay on his bed in his bedroom, they struck him and put him to death and beheaded him. They took his head and went by the way of the Arabah all night, (De 1:1; 2Sa 2:29) 8 and brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron. And they said to the king, “Here is the head of Ish-bosheth, the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life. The Lord has avenged my lord the king this day on Saul and on his offspring.” (1Sa 19:10; 1Sa 23:15) 9 But David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, “As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life out of every adversity, (Ru 3:13; 1Ki 1:29) 10 when one told me, ‘Behold, Saul is dead,’ and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and killed him at Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news. (2Sa 1:4; 2Sa 1:15) 11 How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous man in his own house on his bed, shall I not now require his blood at your hand and destroy you from the earth?” (Ge 9:5) 12 And David commanded his young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and feet and hanged them beside the pool at Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth and buried it in the tomb of Abner at Hebron. (2Sa 3:32)

1 Als aber der Sohn Sauls hörte, dass Abner in Hebron umgekommen war, verließ ihn der Mut, und ganz Israel erschrak. (2Sa 2:8; 2Sa 3:27) 2 Es hatte aber der Sohn Sauls zwei Männer als Hauptleute der Streifscharen; der eine hieß Baana, der andere Rechab, Söhne Rimmons von Beerot aus dem Stamm Benjamin. Denn Beerot wurde auch zu Benjamin gerechnet; 3 dann aber flohen die Beerotiter nach Gittajim und wohnten dort als Fremdlinge bis auf den heutigen Tag. 4 Auch hatte Jonatan, der Sohn Sauls, einen Sohn, der war lahm an beiden Füßen; er war nämlich fünf Jahre alt, als die Kunde von Saul und Jonatan aus Jesreel kam, und seine Amme hatte ihn aufgehoben und war geflohen, und während sie eilends floh, fiel er hin und war fortan lahm. Er hieß Mefi-Boschet^[1]. (2Sa 9:3) 5 So gingen nun Rechab und Baana, die Söhne Rimmons von Beerot, hin und kamen zum Hause Isch-Boschets, als der Tag am heißesten war; und er ruhte auf seinem Lager am Mittag. (2Sa 2:8) 6 Und sie kamen ins Haus, als wollten sie Weizen holen, und stachen ihn in den Bauch. Und Rechab und sein Bruder Baana entrannen. (2Sa 2:23; 2Sa 20:10) 7 Als sie ins Haus gekommen waren, lag er auf seinem Bett in seiner Schlafkammer. Und sie stachen ihn tot und hieben ihm den Kopf ab und nahmen seinen Kopf und gingen den Weg durch das Jordantal die ganze Nacht (1Sa 17:51; 2Sa 2:29; 2Sa 20:22) 8 und brachten das Haupt Isch-Boschets zu David nach Hebron und sprachen zum König: Siehe, da ist das Haupt Isch-Boschets, des Sohnes Sauls, deines Feindes, der dir nach dem Leben getrachtet hat. Der HERR hat heute meinen Herrn, den König, gerächt an Saul und an seinem Geschlecht. 9 Da antwortete David Rechab und seinem Bruder Baana, den Söhnen Rimmons aus Beerot: So wahr der HERR lebt, der mich aus aller Bedrängnis erlöst hat: (1Ki 1:29) 10 Ich habe den, der mir verkündete: Saul ist tot, und meinte, er wäre ein guter Bote, ergriffen und getötet in Ziklag, dem ich doch Lohn für eine gute Botschaft hätte geben sollen. (2Sa 1:15) 11 Und wenn Frevler einen gerechten Mann in seinem Hause auf seinem Lager getötet haben, sollte ich sein Blut nicht fordern von euren Händen und euch von der Erde vertilgen? (2Sa 3:39) 12 Und David gebot seinen Männern; die schlugen sie tot und hieben ihnen Hände und Füße ab und hängten sie auf am Teich in Hebron. Aber das Haupt Isch-Boschets nahmen sie und begruben es in Abners Grab in Hebron. (De 21:22; 1Sa 31:10)
