1In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not yet mount an attack against it. (2Ki 15:37; 2Ki 16:5; Isa 1:1)2When the house of David was told, “Syria is in league with[1] Ephraim,” the heart of Ahaz[2] and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind. (Isa 8:12; Isa 9:9)3And the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-jashub[3] your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Washer’s Field. (2Ki 18:17; Isa 8:3; Isa 8:18; Isa 36:2)4And say to him, ‘Be careful, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint because of these two smoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and the son of Remaliah. (Ex 14:13; Isa 7:1; Isa 8:12; Am 4:11; Zec 3:2)5Because Syria, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has devised evil against you, saying, (Isa 7:4)6“Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it[4] for ourselves, and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,”7thus says the Lord God: “It shall not stand, and it shall not come to pass. (Isa 8:10)8For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. And within sixty-five years Ephraim will be shattered from being a people. (Ge 14:15)9And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you[5] are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.’” (2Ch 20:20; Isa 7:1)
The Sign of Immanuel
10Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz:11“Ask a sign of the Lord your[6] God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” (2Ki 19:29)12But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test.”13And he[7] said, “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? (Isa 43:24)14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.[8] (Ge 24:43; Ex 2:8; Ps 68:25; Pr 30:19; Isa 8:8; Isa 8:10; Isa 9:6; Isa 37:30; Isa 38:7; Mt 1:23; Lu 1:31; Lu 1:34)15He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. (Isa 7:22)16For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted. (Isa 6:12; Isa 8:4)17The Lord will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father’s house such days as have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah—the king of Assyria!” (1Ki 12:16; 2Ch 28:20; Isa 8:7)18In that day the Lord will whistle for the fly that is at the end of the streams of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. (Isa 5:26)19And they will all come and settle in the steep ravines, and in the clefts of the rocks, and on all the thornbushes, and on all the pastures.[9] (Isa 2:19; Jer 13:4; Jer 16:16)20In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired beyond the River[10]—with the king of Assyria—the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also. (2Ki 18:13; Isa 8:7; Isa 10:5; Isa 10:15; Isa 11:15; Isa 24:1; Eze 5:1)21In that day a man will keep alive a young cow and two sheep, (Isa 5:17)22and because of the abundance of milk that they give, he will eat curds, for everyone who is left in the land will eat curds and honey. (Isa 7:15)23In that day every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand shekels[11] of silver, will become briers and thorns. (Isa 5:6)24With bow and arrows a man will come there, for all the land will be briers and thorns. (Jud 5:11)25And as for all the hills that used to be hoed with a hoe, you will not come there for fear of briers and thorns, but they will become a place where cattle are let loose and where sheep tread. (Isa 7:23; Isa 32:13)

(Isa 30:15)5Weil die Aramäer gegen dich Böses ersonnen haben samt Ephraim und dem Sohn Remaljas und sagen:6»Wir wollen hinaufziehen nach Juda und es in Schrecken versetzen und für uns erobern und zum König darin machen den Sohn Tabeals«, –7so spricht Gott der HERR: Das soll nicht bestehen und wird nicht geschehen.8Denn das Haupt von Aram ist Damaskus, und das Haupt von Damaskus ist Rezin – und in fünfundsechzig Jahren soll es mit Ephraim aus sein, dass sie nicht mehr ein Volk seien.9Und das Haupt von Ephraim ist Samaria, und das Haupt von Samaria ist der Sohn Remaljas. Glaubt ihr nicht, so bleibt ihr nicht. (2Ch 20:20; Isa 28:16)
Das Zeichen des Immanuel und das Strafgericht durch die Assyrer
10Und der HERR redete abermals zu Ahas und sprach:11Fordere dir ein Zeichen vom HERRN, deinem Gott, es sei drunten in der Tiefe oder droben in der Höhe!12Aber Ahas sprach: Ich will’s nicht fordern, damit ich den HERRN nicht versuche. (De 6:16)13Da sprach Jesaja: Wohlan, so hört, ihr vom Hause David: Ist’s euch zu wenig, dass ihr Menschen müde macht? Müsst ihr auch meinen Gott müde machen?14Darum wird euch der Herr selbst ein Zeichen geben: Siehe, eine Jungfrau[3] ist schwanger und wird einen Sohn gebären, den wird sie nennen Immanuel[4]. (Isa 9:5; Mic 5:2; Mt 1:23; Lu 1:31)15Butter und Honig wird er essen, bis er weiß, Böses zu verwerfen und Gutes zu erwählen. (Isa 22:1)16Denn ehe der Knabe weiß, Böses zu verwerfen und Gutes zu erwählen, wird das Land verödet sein, vor dessen zwei Königen dir graut. (Isa 8:4)17Der HERR wird über dich, über dein Volk und über deines Vaters Haus Tage kommen lassen, wie sie nicht gekommen sind seit der Zeit, da Ephraim sich von Juda schied, nämlich durch den König von Assyrien.18Zu der Zeit wird der HERR herbeipfeifen die Fliege am Ende der Ströme Ägyptens und die Biene im Lande Assur, (Isa 5:26)19dass sie kommen und sich alle niederlassen in den tiefen Tälern und in den Steinklüften und in allen Hecken und an jeder Tränke.20Zu der Zeit wird der Herr das Haupt und die Haare am Leib scheren und den Bart abnehmen durch das Schermesser, das gedungen ist jenseits des Stroms, durch den König von Assyrien.21Zu der Zeit wird ein Mann eine junge Kuh und zwei Schafe aufziehen22und wird so viel zu melken haben, dass er Butter essen wird; denn Butter und Honig wird essen, wer übrig bleiben wird im Lande. (Isa 15:1)23Und es wird zu der Zeit geschehen: Wo jetzt tausend Weinstöcke stehen, tausend Silberstücke wert, da werden Dornen und Disteln sein, (Isa 5:6)24dass man mit Pfeil und Bogen dahin gehen muss. Denn im ganzen Lande werden Dornen und Disteln sein,25dass man auch zu all den Bergen, die man jetzt mit der Hacke zu behacken pflegt, nicht kommen kann aus Scheu vor Dornen und Disteln, sondern man wird Rinder darüber treiben und Schafe es zertreten lassen.
1A l'époque d'Achaz, fils de Jotham, lui-même fils d'Ozias qui était roi de Juda, Retsin, le roi de Syrie, monta avec Pékach, le fils de Remalia, le roi d'Israël, contre Jérusalem pour l'attaquer, mais sans parvenir à s'en emparer.2On annonça aux membres de la dynastie de David: «Les Syriens ont pris position sur le territoire d'Ephraïm.» Achaz et son peuple en furent tout secoués, comme les arbres de la forêt lorsqu'ils sont secoués par le vent.3Alors l'Eternel dit à Esaïe: «Sors donc à la rencontre d'Achaz avec ton fils Shear-Jashub, au bout de l'aqueduc du réservoir supérieur, sur la route du champ du teinturier.4Tu lui diras: ‘Sois tranquille, n'aie pas peur et que ton cœur ne se trouble pas devant ces deux bouts de bois fumants, devant la colère de Retsin et de la Syrie ainsi que du fils de Remalia!5Ne sois pas troublé parce que la Syrie a décidé de te faire du mal, parce qu'Ephraïm et le fils de Remalia disent:6Montons contre Juda, semons-y la panique, frayons-nous un passage et proclamons-y roi le fils de Tabeel.’7»Voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Cela ne se produira pas, cela n'aura pas lieu.8Certes, Damas est la capitale de la Syrie et Retsin le souverain de Damas, mais d'ici 65 ans Ephraïm ne sera plus un peuple.9Samarie est la capitale d'Ephraïm et le fils de Remalia le souverain de Samarie. Si vous ne croyez pas, vous ne subsisterez pas.»
Annonce de la naissance d'Emmanuel
10L'Eternel dit encore à Achaz:11«Demande pour toi un signe à l'Eternel, ton Dieu! Demande-le, que ce soit dans les plus extrêmes profondeurs ou les lieux les plus élevés.»12Achaz répondit: «Je ne demanderai rien, je ne provoquerai pas l'Eternel.»13Esaïe dit alors: «Ecoutez donc, membres de la dynastie de David! Est-ce trop peu pour vous de fatiguer les hommes, pour que vous abusiez encore de la patience de mon Dieu?14Voilà pourquoi c'est le Seigneur lui-même qui vous donnera un signe: la vierge sera enceinte, elle mettra au monde un fils et l'appellera Emmanuel.[1] (Mt 1:23)15Il se nourrira de lait caillé et de miel jusqu'à ce qu'il sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien.
Jugement d'Israël
16Cependant, avant que l'enfant sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien, le territoire dont tu redoutes les deux rois sera abandonné.17»Par l'intermédiaire du roi d'Assyrie, l'Eternel fera venir sur toi, sur ton peuple et sur ta famille des jours tels qu'il n'y en a jamais eu de pareils depuis le jour où Ephraïm s'est séparé de Juda.18Ce jour-là, l'Eternel sifflera les mouches qui sont dans le delta du Nil en Egypte et les abeilles qui se trouvent en Assyrie.19Elles viendront et se poseront toutes dans les pentes abruptes des torrents et les fentes des rochers, sur tous les buissons et les pâturages.20»Ce jour-là, à l'aide d'un rasoir loué de l'autre côté de l'Euphrate, à l'aide du roi d'Assyrie, le Seigneur rasera la tête et les poils des jambes; il coupera même la barbe.21Il arrivera, ce jour-là, que chacun élèvera une jeune vache et deux brebis.22Il y aura une telle abondance de lait qu'on se nourrira de lait caillé. Oui, c'est de lait caillé et de miel que se nourriront toutes les personnes restées dans le pays.23»Ce jour-là, tout endroit où il y aura 1000 ceps de vigne d'une valeur de 1000 pièces d'argent sera livré aux ronces et aux buissons épineux:24on y viendra muni de flèches et d'un arc, car tout le pays ne sera que ronces et buissons épineux.25Aucune des montagnes que l'on cultivait avec la bêche ne sera plus fréquentée, par crainte des ronces et des buissons épineux. On y lâchera le bœuf et le petit bétail foulera son sol.»
