1Now the Philistines had gathered all their forces at Aphek. And the Israelites were encamped by the spring that is in Jezreel. (Jos 12:18; Jos 17:16; Jud 7:1; 1Sa 4:1; 1Sa 28:1)2As the lords of the Philistines were passing on by hundreds and by thousands, and David and his men were passing on in the rear with Achish, (Jos 13:3; 1Sa 28:1)3the commanders of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?” And Achish said to the commanders of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me now for days and years, and since he deserted to me I have found no fault in him to this day.” (1Sa 27:7; Da 6:5)4But the commanders of the Philistines were angry with him. And the commanders of the Philistines said to him, “Send the man back, that he may return to the place to which you have assigned him. He shall not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us. For how could this fellow reconcile himself to his lord? Would it not be with the heads of the men here? (1Sa 14:21; 1Sa 27:6; 1Sa 29:2; 1Sa 30:1)5Is not this David, of whom they sing to one another in dances, ‘Saul has struck down his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?” (1Sa 18:7; 1Sa 21:11)6Then Achish called David and said to him, “As the Lord lives, you have been honest, and to me it seems right that you should march out and in with me in the campaign. For I have found nothing wrong in you from the day of your coming to me to this day. Nevertheless, the lords do not approve of you. (1Sa 20:3; 2Sa 3:25; 2Ki 19:27; Ps 121:8; Isa 37:28)7So go back now; and go peaceably, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines.”8And David said to Achish, “But what have I done? What have you found in your servant from the day I entered your service until now, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”9And Achish answered David and said, “I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God. Nevertheless, the commanders of the Philistines have said, ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’ (Jos 13:3; 2Sa 14:17; 2Sa 14:20; 2Sa 19:27)10Now then rise early in the morning with the servants of your lord who came with you, and start early in the morning, and depart as soon as you have light.” (1Ch 12:19; 1Ch 12:22)11So David set out with his men early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel. (Jos 17:16)

(1Sa 27:7)4Aber die Obersten der Philister wurden zornig auf ihn und sprachen zu ihm: Schick den Mann zurück! Er soll zurückkehren an den Ort, den du ihm zugewiesen hast, damit er nicht mit uns in den Kampf ziehe und unser Widersacher werde im Kampf. Denn womit könnte er seinem Herrn einen größeren Gefallen tun als mit den Köpfen unserer Männer?5Ist das nicht David, von dem sie singen im Reigen: Saul hat tausend geschlagen, David aber zehntausend? (1Sa 18:7; 1Sa 21:12)6Da rief Achisch David und sprach zu ihm: So wahr der HERR lebt: Ich halte dich für redlich, und dass du mit mir aus- und einzögest im Heer, gefiele mir gut, denn ich habe nichts Arges an dir gespürt seit der Zeit, da du zu mir gekommen bist, bis heute; aber du gefällst den Fürsten nicht.7So kehre nun um und zieh hin mit Frieden, damit du nicht tust, was den Fürsten der Philister missfällt.8David aber sprach zu Achisch: Was habe ich getan, und was hast du gespürt an deinem Knecht seit der Zeit, da ich dir gedient habe, bis heute, dass ich nicht mitkommen darf und kämpfen gegen die Feinde meines Herrn, des Königs?9Achisch antwortete und sprach zu David: Ich weiß es wohl, denn du bist mir lieb wie ein Engel Gottes. Aber die Obersten der Philister haben gesagt: Lass ihn nicht mit uns hinauf in den Kampf ziehen! (2Sa 14:17; 2Sa 14:20; 2Sa 19:28; Ga 4:14)10So mach dich nun früh am Morgen auf mit den Knechten deines Herrn, die mit dir gekommen sind; macht euch früh am Morgen auf und zieht weg, sobald es tagt.11Da machten sich David und seine Männer früh auf, um am Morgen wegzuziehen und ins Philisterland zurückzukehren. Die Philister aber zogen hinauf nach Jesreel.

Qu'il retourne là où tu l'as installé et ne descende pas avec nous sur le champ de bataille. Il risquerait d'être un ennemi pour nous pendant le combat. Comment cet homme pourrait-il rentrer en grâce auprès de son maître, si ce n'est en lui apportant la tête de nos hommes?5N'est-ce pas en l'honneur de ce David que l'on chantait en dansant: ‘Saül a frappé ses 1000, et David ses 10'000’?»6Akish appela David et lui dit: «L'Eternel est vivant! Tu es un homme droit et j'aime te voir aller et venir avec moi dans le camp, car je n'ai rien trouvé de mal en toi depuis ton arrivée chez moi jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Mais tu ne plais pas aux princes.7Repars donc, va-t'en en paix, pour ne rien faire qui déplaise aux princes des Philistins.»8David dit à Akish: «Mais qu'ai-je fait et qu'as-tu trouvé chez moi, ton serviteur, depuis que je suis avec toi jusqu'à aujourd'hui, pour que je ne puisse pas aller combattre les ennemis de mon seigneur le roi?»9Akish répondit à David: «Je le sais bien, car tu me plais autant qu'un ange de Dieu. Mais les princes des Philistins refusent que tu montes avec eux au combat.10Par conséquent lève-toi de bon matin, ainsi que les serviteurs de ton maître qui sont venus avec toi. Levez-vous de bon matin et partez dès qu'il fera jour.»11David et ses hommes se levèrent de bonne heure pour partir dès le matin et retourner dans le pays des Philistins. Quant aux Philistins, ils montèrent à Jizreel.
