My Soul Longs for the Courts of the Lord

To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.

1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts!^[1] (Ps 27:4; Ps 43:3; Ps 132:5) 2 My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God. (Job 19:27; Ps 42:1; Ps 42:2; Ps 63:1; Ps 73:26; Ps 119:81; Ps 143:6)

3 Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God. (Ps 5:2) 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise! Selah (Ps 42:5; Ps 42:11; Ps 43:5; Ps 65:4)

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.^[2] (Ps 122:1) 6 As they go through the Valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools. (Eze 34:26; Joe 2:23) 7 They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion. (Ps 42:2; Pr 4:18; Isa 40:31; Joh 1:16; 2Co 3:18)

8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah (Ps 59:5) 9 Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed! (Ps 3:3; Ps 80:14) 10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. (1Ch 26:19; Ps 84:2) 11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. Freude am Hause Gottes

1 Ein Psalm der Korachiter, vorzusingen, auf der Gittit. (1Ch 26:1) 2 Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, HERR Zebaoth! 3 Meine Seele verlangt und sehnt sich nach den Vorhöfen des HERRN; mein Leib und Seele freuen sich in dem lebendigen Gott. (Ps 42:3) 4 Der Vogel hat ein Haus gefunden und die Schwalbe ein Nest für ihre Jungen – deine Altäre, HERR Zebaoth, mein König und mein Gott. 5 Wohl denen, die in deinem Hause wohnen; die loben dich immerdar. Sela. (Ps 65:5) 6 Wohl den Menschen, die dich für ihre Stärke halten und von Herzen dir nachwandeln! 7 Wenn sie durchs dürre Tal ziehen, / wird es ihnen zum Quellgrund, und Frühregen hüllt es in Segen. 8 Sie gehen von einer Kraft zur andern und schauen den wahren Gott in Zion. 9 HERR, Gott Zebaoth, höre mein Gebet; vernimm es, Gott Jakobs! Sela. 10 Gott, unser Schild, schaue doch; sieh an das Antlitz deines Gesalbten! 11 Denn ein Tag in deinen Vorhöfen ist besser als sonst tausend. Ich will lieber die Tür hüten in meines Gottes Hause als wohnen in den Zelten der Frevler. (Ps 27:4) 12 Denn Gott der HERR ist Sonne und Schild; / der HERR gibt Gnade und Ehre. Er wird kein Gutes mangeln lassen den Frommen. 13 HERR Zebaoth, wohl dem Menschen, der sich auf dich verlässt!

Benedizione nella casa di Dio

1 Al direttore del coro. Sulla ghittea. Salmo dei figli di Core. Oh, quanto sono amabili le tue dimore, Signore degli eserciti! 2 L’anima mia langue e vien meno, sospirando i cortili del Signore; il mio cuore e la mia carne mandano grida di gioia al Dio vivente. 3 Anche il passero trova una casa e la rondine un nido dove posare i suoi piccini, presso i tuoi altari, o Signore degli eserciti, Re mio, Dio mio! 4 Beati quelli che abitano nella tua casa e ti lodano sempre! [Pausa] 5 Beati quelli che trovano in te la loro forza, che hanno a cuore le vie del Santuario! 6 Quando attraversano la valle di Baca essi la trasformano in luogo di fonti, e la pioggia d’autunno la ricopre di benedizioni. 7 Lungo il cammino aumenta la loro forza e compaiono infine davanti a Dio in Sion. 8 O Signore, Dio degli eserciti, ascolta la mia preghiera; porgi orecchio, o Dio di Giacobbe! [Pausa] 9 Vedi, o Dio, nostro scudo, guarda il volto del tuo unto! 10 Un giorno nei tuoi cortili val più che mille altrove. Io preferirei stare sulla soglia della casa del mio Dio, che abitare nelle tende degli empi. 11 Perché Dio, il Signore, è sole e scudo; il Signore concederà grazia e gloria. Egli non rifiuterà di fare del bene a quelli che camminano rettamente. 12 O Signore degli eserciti, beato l’uomo che confida in te!
