How Majestic Is Your Name

1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.^[1] (Ex 34:5; Ps 113:4; Ps 148:13; Isa 12:4)

2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. (Ps 44:16; Jer 16:19; Mt 11:25; Mt 21:16; 1Co 1:27)

3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, (Ge 1:16; Ex 8:19; Ex 31:18; Ps 111:2)

1 Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen, auf der Gittit. 2 HERR, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich ist dein Name in allen Landen, der du zeigst deine Hoheit am Himmel! (Ex 3:13) 3 Aus dem Munde der jungen Kinder und Säuglinge / hast du eine Macht zugerichtet um deiner Feinde willen, dass du vertilgest den Feind und den Rachgierigen. (Mt 21:16) 4 Wenn ich sehe die Himmel, deiner Finger Werk, den Mond und die Sterne, die du bereitet hast: 5 was ist der Mensch, dass du seiner gedenkst, und des Menschen Kind, dass du dich seiner annimmst? (Heb 2:6) 6 Du hast ihn wenig niedriger gemacht als Gott, mit Ehre und Herrlichkeit hast du ihn gekrönt. (Ge 1:27) 7 Du hast ihn zum Herrn gemacht über deiner Hände Werk, alles hast du unter seine Füße getan: (1Co 15:27) 8 Schafe und Rinder allzumal, dazu auch die wilden Tiere, 9 die Vögel unter dem Himmel und die Fische im Meer und alles, was die Meere durchzieht. 10 HERR, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich ist dein Name in allen Landen!

1 Al direttore del coro. Sulla ghittea. Salmo di Davide. O Dio, Signore nostro, quant’è magnifico il tuo nome in tutta la terra! Tu hai posto la tua maestà nei cieli. 2 Dalla bocca dei bambini e dei lattanti hai tratto una forza, a causa dei tuoi nemici, per ridurre al silenzio l’avversario e il vendicatore. 3 Quando io considero i tuoi cieli, opera delle tue dita, la luna e le stelle che tu hai disposte, 4 che cos’è l’uomo perché tu lo ricordi? Il figlio dell’uomo perché te ne prenda cura? 5 Eppure tu lo hai fatto solo di poco inferiore a Dio^[1] e lo hai coronato di gloria e d’onore. 6 Tu lo hai fatto dominare sulle opere delle tue mani, hai posto ogni cosa sotto i suoi piedi: 7 pecore e buoi tutti quanti e anche le bestie selvatiche della campagna; 8 gli uccelli del cielo e i pesci del mare, tutto quel che percorre i sentieri dei mari. 9 O Dio, Signore nostro, quant’è magnifico il tuo nome in tutta la terra!
