How Awesome Are Your Deeds

To the choirmaster. A Song. A Psalm.

1 Shout for joy to God, all the earth; (Ps 81:1; Ps 95:1; Ps 98:4; Ps 100:1)

2 sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! (Jos 7:19; Isa 42:12) 3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. (Ps 18:44; Ps 65:5) 4 All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Selah (Ps 22:27) 5 Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man. (Ps 3:1; Ps 46:8; Ps 66:16) 6 He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There did we rejoice in him, (Ex 14:21; Jos 3:14; Ps 74:15) 7 who rules by his might forever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations— let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah (Ps 11:4) 8 Bless our God, O peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard, 9 who has kept our soul among the living and has not let our feet slip. (Ps 121:3) 10 For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried. (Job 23:10) 11 You brought us into the net; you laid a crushing burden on our backs; (La 1:13; Eze 12:13) 12 you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance. (Isa 43:2; Isa 51:23) 13 I will come into your house with burnt offerings; I will perform my vows to you, (Ps 50:14) 14 that which my lips uttered and my mouth promised when I was in trouble. (Ps 18:6) 15 I will offer to you burnt offerings of fattened animals, with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams; I will make an offering of bulls and goats. Selah 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. (Ps 34:11; Ps 66:5) 17 I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on^[1] my tongue.^[2] 18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. 19 But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. (Ps 116:1; Ps 116:2) 20 Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me!

1 Ein Psalmlied, vorzusingen. Jauchzet Gott, alle Lande! / 2 Lobsinget zur Ehre seines Namens; rühmet ihn herrlich! 3 Sprecht zu Gott: Wie wunderbar sind deine Werke! Deine Feinde müssen sich beugen vor deiner großen Macht. 4 Alles Land bete dich an und lobsinge dir, lobsinge deinem Namen. Sela. 5 Kommt her und sehet an die Werke Gottes, der so wunderbar ist in seinem Tun an den Menschenkindern. 6 Er verwandelte das Meer in trockenes Land, / sie gingen zu Fuß durch den Strom; dort wollen wir uns seiner freuen. (Ex 14:21; Jos 3:16) 7 Er herrscht mit seiner Gewalt ewiglich, / seine Augen schauen auf die Völker. Die Abtrünnigen können sich nicht erheben. Sela. 8 Lobet, ihr Völker, unsern Gott, lasst seinen Ruhm weit erschallen, 9 der unsre Seelen am Leben erhält und lässt unsere Füße nicht gleiten. 10 Denn, Gott, du hast uns geprüft und geläutert, wie das Silber geläutert wird; (Pr 17:3) 11 du hast uns in den Turm werfen lassen, du hast auf unsern Rücken eine Last gelegt, 12 du hast Menschen über unser Haupt fahren lassen, / wir sind in Feuer und Wasser gekommen. Aber du hast uns herausgeführt und erquickt. (Isa 43:2) 13 Darum will ich in dein Haus gehen mit Brandopfern und dir meine Gelübde erfüllen, 14 wie ich meine Lippen aufgetan habe und mein Mund geredet hat in meiner Not. 15 Ich will dir Brandopfer bringen von fetten Schafen / mit dem Opferrauch von Widdern; ich will opfern Rinder mit Böcken. Sela. 16 Kommt her, höret zu alle, die ihr Gott fürchtet; ich will erzählen, was er an mir getan hat. 17 Zu ihm rief ich mit meinem Munde und pries ihn mit meiner Zunge. 18 Wenn ich Unrechtes vorgehabt hätte in meinem Herzen, so würde der Herr nicht hören. (Pr 28:9) 19 Aber Gott hat mich erhört und gemerkt auf mein Flehen. 20 Gelobt sei Gott, der mein Gebet nicht verwirft noch seine Güte von mir wendet.

Fate acclamazioni a Dio, voi tutti, abitanti della terra! 2 Cantate la gloria del suo nome, onoratelo con la vostra lode! 3 Dite a Dio: «Come son tremende le opere tue! Per la grandezza della tua potenza i tuoi nemici ti aduleranno. 4 Tutta la terra si prostrerà davanti a te e canterà a te, canterà al tuo nome». [Pausa] 5 Venite e ammirate le opere di Dio; egli è tremendo nelle sue azioni verso i figli degli uomini. 6 Egli cambiò il mare in terra asciutta; il popolo passò il fiume a piedi; perciò esultiamo in lui. 7 Egli, con la sua potenza domina in eterno; i suoi occhi osservano le nazioni; i ribelli non possono insorgere contro di lui! [Pausa] 8 Benedite il nostro Dio, o popoli, e fate risuonare a piena voce la sua lode! 9 Egli ha conservato in vita l’anima nostra e non ha permesso che il nostro piede vacillasse. 10 Poiché tu ci hai messi alla prova, o Dio, ci hai passati al crogiuolo come l’argento. 11 Ci hai fatti cadere nella rete, hai posto un grave peso ai nostri fianchi. 12 Hai fatto cavalcare uomini sul nostro capo; siamo passati attraverso il fuoco e l’acqua, ma poi ci hai tratti fuori in un luogo di refrigerio. 13 Entrerò nella tua casa con olocausti, adempirò le mie promesse, 14 le promesse che le mie labbra hanno pronunciate, che la mia bocca ha proferite nel momento della difficoltà. 15 Ti offrirò olocausti di bestie grasse e il profumo di montoni; sacrificherò buoi e capri. [Pausa] 16 Venite e ascoltate, voi tutti che temete Dio! Io vi racconterò quel che ha fatto per l’anima mia. 17 Lo invocai con la mia bocca e la mia lingua lo glorificò. 18 Se nel mio cuore avessi tramato il male, il Signore non mi avrebbe ascoltato. 19 Ma Dio ha ascoltato; è stato attento alla voce della mia preghiera. 20 Benedetto sia Dio, che non ha respinto la mia preghiera e non mi ha negato la sua grazia.
