1Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, (Mr 3:22; Mr 7:1)2“Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” (Mt 9:11; Lu 11:38; Ga 1:14; Col 2:8)3He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?4For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ (Ex 20:12; Ex 21:17)5But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,”[1]6he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word[2] of God. What Defiles a Person
10And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: (Mt 13:51)11it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” (Ac 10:14; Ac 10:15)12Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” (Mt 13:57; Lu 7:23)13He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. The Faith of a Canaanite Woman
21And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. (Mr 7:24)22And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” (Ge 10:15; Ge 10:19; Jud 1:30; Mt 9:27)23But he did not answer her a word. Jesus Heals Many
29Jesus went on from there and walked beside the Sea of Galilee. And he went up on the mountain and sat down there. (Mt 4:18; Mt 5:1; Mr 7:31; Joh 6:1)30And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them, (Mt 11:5)31so that the crowd wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand
32Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.” (Mt 9:36; Mt 14:14)33And the disciples said to him, “Where are we to get enough bread in such a desolate place to feed so great a crowd?”34And Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.” (Mt 16:10)35And directing the crowd to sit down on the ground,36he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. Car ils ne se lavent pas les mains, quand ils prennent leurs repas.3Il leur répondit: Et vous, pourquoi transgressez-vous le commandement de Dieu au profit de votre tradition?4Car Dieu a dit: Honore ton père et ta mère; et: Celui qui maudira son père ou sa mère sera puni de mort.5Mais vous, vous dites: Celui qui dira à son père ou à sa mère: Ce dont j'aurais pu t'assister est une offrande à Dieu, n'est pas tenu d'honorer son père ou sa mère.6Vous annulez ainsi la parole de Dieu au profit de votre tradition.7Hypocrites, Ésaïe a bien prophétisé sur vous, quand il a dit:8Ce peuple m'honore des lèvres, Mais son coeur est éloigné de moi.9C'est en vain qu'ils m'honorent, en enseignant des préceptes qui sont des commandements d'hommes.10Ayant appelé à lui la foule, il lui dit: Écoutez, et comprenez.11Ce n'est pas ce qui entre dans la bouche qui souille l'homme; mais ce qui sort de la bouche, c'est ce qui souille l'homme.12Alors ses disciples s'approchèrent, et lui dirent: Sais-tu que les pharisiens ont été scandalisés des paroles qu'ils ont entendues?13Il répondit: Toute plante que n'a pas plantée mon Père céleste sera déracinée.14Laissez-les: ce sont des aveugles qui conduisent des aveugles; si un aveugle conduit un aveugle, ils tomberont tous deux dans une fosse.15Pierre, prenant la parole, lui dit: Explique-nous cette parabole.16Et Jésus dit: Vous aussi, êtes-vous encore sans intelligence?17Ne comprenez-vous pas que tout ce qui entre dans la bouche va dans le ventre, puis est jeté dans les lieux secrets?18Mais ce qui sort de la bouche vient du coeur, et c'est ce qui souille l'homme.19Car c'est du coeur que viennent les mauvaises pensées, les meurtres, les adultères, les impudicités, les vols, les faux témoignages, les calomnies.20Voilà les choses qui souillent l'homme; mais manger sans s'être lavé les mains, cela ne souille point l'homme.21Jésus, étant parti de là, se retira dans le territoire de Tyr et de Sidon.22Et voici, une femme cananéenne, qui venait de ces contrées, lui cria: Aie pitié de moi, Seigneur, Fils de David! On les mit à ses pieds, et il les guérit;31en sorte que la foule était dans l'admiration de voir que les muets parlaient, que les estropiés étaient guéris, que les boiteux marchaient, que les aveugles voyaient; et elle glorifiait le Dieu d'Israël.32Jésus, ayant appelé ses disciples, dit: Je suis ému de compassion pour cette foule; car voilà trois jours qu'ils sont près de moi, et ils n'ont rien à manger. Je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun, de peur que les forces ne leur manquent en chemin.33Les disciples lui dirent: Comment nous procurer dans ce lieu désert assez de pains pour rassasier une si grande foule?34Jésus leur demanda: Combien avez-vous de pains? Sept, répondirent-ils, et quelques petits poissons.35Alors il fit asseoir la foule par terre,36prit les sept pains et les poissons, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les rompit et les donna à ses disciples, qui les distribuèrent à la foule.37Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés, et l'on emporta sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restaient.38Ceux qui avaient mangé étaient quatre mille hommes, sans les femmes et les enfants.39Ensuite, il renvoya la foule, monta dans la barque, et se rendit dans la contrée de Magadan.
