Who Can Stand Before You?

1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. In Judah God is known; his name is great in Israel. (Ps 4:1; Ps 48:3; Ps 50:1) 2 His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion. (Ge 14:18; Ps 9:11; Ps 27:5; Ps 74:2; La 2:6)

3 There he broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. (Ps 46:9; Eze 39:9) 4 Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey. (Isa 14:25; Eze 39:4; Na 2:13) 5 The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands. 6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse lay stunned. (Ex 15:1; Ex 15:21) 7 But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused? (Ps 47:2; Ps 130:3) 8 From the heavens you uttered judgment; the earth feared and was still, (2Ch 20:29; Hab 2:20) 9 when God arose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. (Ps 9:7) 10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant^[1] of wrath you will put on like a belt. (Ex 9:16) 11 Make your vows to the Lord your God and perform them; let all around him bring gifts to him who is to be feared, (Ge 31:42; Ge 31:53; Ps 50:14; Ps 68:29; Ps 89:7; Isa 8:13)

Gott ist Sieger

1 Ein Lied Asafs, zu begleiten auf Saiteninstrumenten. 2 Gott ist in Juda wohlbekannt, in ganz Israel ist er berühmt. 3 In Jerusalem hat er sein Haus, dort^[1] wohnt er auf dem Zionsberg. (Ps 9:12; Ps 48:2; Ps 65:2; Ps 68:17; Ps 87:1; Ps 132:13; Isa 2:3; Ob 1:17)

4 Alles Kriegsgerät hat er zerbrochen, die Pfeile, die Schwerter und die Schilde. (Ps 46:10) 5 Von Glanz bist du umgeben, Gott, machtvoller als die uralten Berge^[2] bist du! 6 Furchtlose Krieger wurden ausgeplündert; sie schlafen ihren letzten Schlaf und können nie mehr zu den Waffen greifen. (Ps 48:5; Jer 51:57) 7 Als du sie bedrohtest, Gott Jakobs, da konnten Ross und Reiter sich nicht mehr rühren. 8 Ehrfurcht gebietend bist du! Wer hält dir stand, wenn du zornig wirst? 9 Vom Himmel her verkündest du das Urteil. Alle Welt erschrickt und wird still, 10 wenn du aufstehst, Gott, und Gericht hältst, um die Unterdrückten auf der Erde zu befreien. 11 Sogar das Wüten deiner Feinde muss noch deinen Ruhm vergrößern; denn alle, die diesem Wüten entgehen, sind wie eine Krone, mit der du dich schmückst. 12 Legt Gelübde ab und löst sie ein vor dem HERRN, eurem Gott! Ihr Völker, die ihr rings um ihn wohnt, bringt dem gewaltigen Gott Geschenke! (Ps 66:13) 13 Er erniedrigt hochmütige Führer und lehrt die Herrscher der Erde das Fürchten!
