A Sign Against Egypt and Cush

1 In the year that the commander in chief, who was sent by Sargon the king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and fought against it and captured it— (1Sa 5:1; 2Ki 18:17) 

2 at that time the Lord spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go, and loose the sackcloth from your waist and take off your sandals from your feet,” and he did so, walking naked and barefoot. (1Sa 19:24; Mic 1:8; Mic 1:11) 

3 Then the Lord said, “As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and a portent against Egypt and Cush, (Isa 8:18) 

4 so shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptian captives and the Cushite exiles, both the young and the old, naked and barefoot, with buttocks uncovered, the nakedness of Egypt. (Isa 19:4) 

5 Then they shall be dismayed and ashamed because of Cush their hope and of Egypt their boast. (Isa 30:3; Isa 30:5; Isa 37:9) 

6 And the inhabitants of this coastland will say in that day, ‘Behold, this is what has happened to those in whom we hoped and to whom we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria! And we, how shall we escape?’” (Isa 14:29; Isa 14:31; Isa 37:6; Jer 47:7)

Keine Hilfe von Ägypten und Äthiopien

1-2 Auf Befehl des Königs Sargon von Assyrien rückte sein oberster Feldherr gegen die Stadt Aschdod vor, belagerte sie und nahm sie ein. Drei Jahre zuvor hatte der HERR zu Jesaja, dem Sohn von Amoz, gesagt: »Leg dein Gewand ab und zieh deine Sandalen aus!« Das hatte Jesaja getan und war im Hemd und barfuß umhergelaufen. In dem Jahr, als Aschdod erobert wurde, (Isa 8:18; Jer 13:1; Eze 4:1) 

3 ließ der HERR durch Jesaja verkünden: »Seit drei Jahren läuft mein Diener Jesaja im Hemd und barfuß umher als ein lebendes Zeichen und eine Ankündigung für das, was mit Ägypten und Äthiopien geschehen wird. 

4 Denn der König von Assyrien wird die Ägypter und die Äthiopier, Junge und Alte, gefangen wegführen, im Hemd und barfuß, ja sogar mit bloßem Gesäß – welche Schande für die Ägypter! 

5 Dann werden alle enttäuscht und entmutigt sein, die von Äthiopien Hilfe erwarteten und so große Stücke auf Ägypten hielten.« (Isa 18:1; Isa 30:3) 

6 Wenn das geschieht, werden die Philister und die Leute von Juda sagen: »Sie sind unsere Hoffnung gewesen, zu ihnen sind wir um Schutz und Hilfe gelaufen, sie sollten uns vor dem König von Assyrien retten. Und was ist nun aus ihnen geworden! Wie sollte es da für uns noch Rettung geben?«
