Walking in the Light
5This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (Joh 4:24; Jas 1:17; 1Jo 3:11; 1Jo 4:8)6If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. (Joh 3:21; Joh 12:35; 2Co 6:14; 1Jo 2:11)7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (Ps 104:2; Isa 2:5; Eph 1:7; 1Ti 6:16; Heb 9:14; 1Pe 1:19; Re 5:9; Re 7:14; Re 12:11)8If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (Job 15:14; Jer 2:35; Jas 3:2; 1Jo 2:4)9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (Ps 32:5; Ps 51:3; Ps 143:1; Pr 28:13; Ro 3:26; 1Jo 1:7)10If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (Joh 5:38; Joh 8:37; 1Jo 5:10)

(Joh 1:1; Joh 1:14; Joh 4:14; Joh 6:35; Joh 8:12; Joh 11:25; Joh 15:27)2Denn das Leben ist offenbar geworden, und wir haben es gesehen; wir sind Zeugen dafür und verkünden euch das unvergängliche Leben, das beim Vater war und sich uns offenbart hat.3Was wir so gesehen und gehört haben, das verkünden wir euch, damit ihr in Gemeinschaft mit uns verbunden seid. Und die Gemeinschaft, die uns miteinander verbindet, ist zugleich Gemeinschaft mit dem Vater und mit Jesus Christus, seinem Sohn.4Das erfüllt uns mit großer Freude.[1] Und wir schreiben euch diesen Brief, damit unsere Freude vollkommen wird. Gott ist Licht
5Von ihm, Jesus Christus, dem offenbar gewordenen Wort, haben wir die Botschaft gehört, die wir euch weitersagen: Gott ist Licht, in ihm gibt es keine Spur von Finsternis. (1Ti 6:16)6Wenn wir behaupten: »Wir haben Gemeinschaft mit Gott«, und gleichzeitig im Dunkeln leben, dann lügen wir und gehorchen nicht der Wahrheit. (1Jo 2:4)7Leben wir aber im Licht, so wie Gott im Licht ist, dann haben wir Gemeinschaft untereinander, und das Blut, das Jesus, sein Sohn, für uns vergossen hat, reinigt uns von jeder Schuld. (Isa 2:5; Heb 9:12; Re 1:5; Re 5:9; Re 7:14)
Niemand ist ohne Sünde
8Wenn wir behaupten: »Wir sind ohne Schuld«, betrügen wir uns selbst und die Wahrheit lebt nicht in uns.9Wenn wir aber unsere Verfehlungen eingestehen, können wir damit rechnen, dass Gott treu und gerecht ist: Er wird uns dann unsere Verfehlungen vergeben und uns von aller Schuld reinigen. (Ps 32:3)10Wenn wir behaupten: »Seit wir Christen sind, haben wir nie mehr Unrecht getan«,[2] machen wir Gott zum Lügner und sein Wort lebt nicht in uns.
