You Keep Him in Perfect Peace

1 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city; he sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks. (Isa 27:2; Isa 60:18) 2 Open the gates, that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in. (Ps 118:19) 3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (Isa 30:15) 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. 5 For he has humbled the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city. He lays it low, lays it low to the ground, casts it to the dust. (Isa 25:12) 6 The foot tramples it, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.” (Isa 25:4) 7 The path of the righteous is level; you make level the way of the righteous. (1Sa 2:9; Ps 37:23) 8 In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you; your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul. (Ex 3:15) 9 My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. (2Ch 33:12; Isa 26:16) 10 If favor is shown to the wicked, he does not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness he deals corruptly and does not see the majesty of the Lord. (Ps 73:3) 11 O Lord, your hand is lifted up, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people, and be ashamed. Let the fire for your adversaries consume them. 20 Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the fury has passed by. 1 An jenem Tag wird dieses Lied im Land Juda gesungen: Wir haben eine starke Stadt. / Zum Heil setzt er Mauern und Wall. 2 Öffnet die Tore, / damit eine gerechte Nation einzieht, / die Treue bewahrt. (Ps 118:19) 3 Festem Sinn gewährst du Frieden, ja Frieden, / denn auf dich verlässt er sich. 4 Verlasst euch stets auf den HERRN; / denn GOTT, der Herr, ist ein ewiger Fels. 5 Denn die Bewohner der Höhe hat er niedergebeugt, / die hoch aufragende Stadt erniedrigt; er hat sie erniedrigt bis zur Erde, / sie bis in den Staub gestoßen. (Isa 25:12) 6 Füße zertreten sie, die Füße der Armen, / die Tritte der Schwachen.

7 Der Pfad des Gerechten ist Geradheit, / gerade ist die Bahn des Gerechten, die du ebnest. 8 Fürwahr, auf dem Pfad deiner Gerichte, HERR, / haben wir auf dich gehofft. Deinen Namen anzurufen und deiner zu gedenken, / ist der Seele Verlangen. 9 Meine Seele verlangt nach dir in der Nacht, / auch mein Geist in meinem Innern ist voll Sehnsucht nach dir. Denn wann immer deine Gerichte die Erde treffen, / lernen die Bewohner des Erdkreises Gerechtigkeit. 10 Wird dem Frevler Gnade gewährt, / so lernt er keine Gerechtigkeit. Im Land des Rechts tut er Unrecht / und sieht nicht die Hoheit des HERRN. 11 HERR, deine Hand ist erhoben / und sie schauen es nicht. Doch sie werden schauen / und beschämt dastehen vor dem leidenschaftlichen Eifer für das Volk. / Ja, Feuer wird deine Gegner fressen. (Ex 15:6; Heb 10:27) 12 HERR, du wirst uns Frieden schaffen; / denn auch all unsere Taten hast du für uns gemacht. 13 HERR, unser Gott, es beherrschten uns andere Herren als du. / Allein durch dich bringen wir deinen Namen in Erinnerung. 14 Tote werden nicht lebendig, / Schatten stehen nicht auf; denn du hast sie heimgesucht und vernichtet, / jede Erinnerung an sie hast du getilgt. (Isa 26:19) 15 Du hast die Nation vermehrt, o HERR, / du hast die Nation vermehrt, hast dich verherrlicht, / hast alle Grenzen des Landes erweitert. 16 HERR, in der Not haben sie nach dir Ausschau gehalten; / sie schrien in der Bedrängnis, als deine Züchtigung sie traf.^[1] 17 Wie eine Schwangere, / die kurz davor ist, zu gebären, sich windet und schreit in ihren Wehen, / so waren wir, HERR, vor deinem Angesicht. 18 Wir waren schwanger und lagen in Wehen, / doch als wir gebaren, war es Wind. Heil verschaffen wir nicht dem Land / und Erdenbewohner sind keine geboren. 19 Deine Toten werden leben, / meine Leichen stehen auf. / Wacht auf und jubelt, ihr Bewohner des Staubes! Denn ein Tau von Lichtern / ist dein Tau / und die Erde gebiert die Schatten. (Isa 26:14)

20 Geh, mein Volk, tritt ein in deine Kammern / und verschließe deine Türen hinter dir! Verbirg dich für einen kurzen Augenblick, / bis die Wut vorüber ist. 21 Denn siehe, der HERR zieht aus von seinem Ort, / um die Schuld der Erdenbewohner an ihnen heimzusuchen. Dann wird die Erde das Blut in ihr aufdecken / und die Getöteten nicht mehr bedecken.

1 In quel giorno si canterà questo cantico nel paese di Giuda: «Noi abbiamo una città forte; il Signore vi pone la salvezza con mura e bastioni. 2 Aprite le porte ed entri la nazione giusta, che si mantiene fedele. 3 A colui che è fermo nei suoi sentimenti tu conservi la pace, la pace, perché in te confida. 4 Confidate per sempre nel Signore, perché il Signore, sì, il Signore, è la roccia dei secoli». 5 Infatti egli ha umiliato quelli che stavano in alto; egli ha abbassato la città elevata, l’ha abbassata fino a terra, l’ha stesa nella polvere. 6 La calpestano i piedi, i piedi dell’oppresso; vi passano sopra i poveri. 7 La via del giusto è diritta; tu rendi perfettamente piano il sentiero del giusto. 8 Sulla via dei tuoi giudizi, Signore, noi ti abbiamo aspettato!
