1An oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, the Lord is riding on a swift cloud and comes to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence, and the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them. (Ex 12:12; Jos 2:11; 1Sa 5:3; Ps 18:10; Ps 104:3; Isa 13:1; Isa 13:7; Jer 43:12; Jer 46:13; Jer 50:2; Eze 29:1; Eze 31:18; Joe 3:19; Mt 26:64; Re 1:7)2And I will stir up Egyptians against Egyptians, and they will fight, each against another and each against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom; (Jud 7:22)3and the spirit of the Egyptians within them will be emptied out, and I will confound[1] their counsel; and they will inquire of the idols and the sorcerers, and the mediums and the necromancers; (Isa 8:19; Isa 19:11)4and I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a hard master, and a fierce king will rule over them, declares the Lord God of hosts. (Nu 11:5)9The workers in combed flax will be in despair, and the weavers of white cotton. (Eze 27:7)10Those who are the pillars of the land will be crushed, and all who work for pay will be grieved. (Jer 46:21; Ga 2:9)11The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish; the wisest counselors of Pharaoh give stupid counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am a son of the wise, a son of ancient kings”? (Nu 13:22; Ps 78:43; Isa 30:4)12Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you that they might know what the Lord of hosts has purposed against Egypt. (1Ki 4:30; Ac 7:22)13The princes of Zoan have become fools, and the princes of Memphis are deluded; those who are the cornerstones of her tribes have made Egypt stagger. (Isa 19:11; Jer 2:16; Jer 44:1; Jer 46:14; Jer 46:19; Eze 30:13; Eze 30:16; Zec 10:4)14The Lord has mingled within her a spirit of confusion, and they will make Egypt stagger in all its deeds, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit. (1Ki 22:22; Isa 24:20; Isa 29:9)15And there will be nothing for Egypt that head or tail, palm branch or reed, may do. (Isa 9:14)
Egypt, Assyria, Israel Blessed
16In that day the Egyptians will be like women, and tremble with fear before the hand that the Lord of hosts shakes over them. (Isa 10:32; Jer 50:37; Jer 51:30; Na 3:13)17And the land of Judah will become a terror to the Egyptians. Everyone to whom it is mentioned will fear because of the purpose that the Lord of hosts has purposed against them.18In that day there will be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord of hosts. One of these will be called the City of Destruction.[2] (2Ki 7:13; Isa 19:21; Isa 30:17; Zep 3:9)19In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border. (Ge 28:18; 2Ki 5:17)20It will be a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry to the Lord because of oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and deliver them. (Isa 19:19; Ob 1:21)21And the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day and worship with sacrifice and offering, and they will make vows to the Lord and perform them. (Isa 2:2; Isa 19:25; Zec 14:16)22And the Lord will strike Egypt, striking and healing, and they will return to the Lord, and he will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them. (Jer 46:25)23In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. (Isa 11:16; Isa 19:18; Isa 19:21; Zep 3:9)24In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, (Ge 12:2)25whom the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.” (De 32:9; Isa 29:23; Ho 2:23)

Vor seinem Angesicht erbeben die Götter Ägyptens, / das Herz Ägyptens verzagt in seinem Innern.2Ich hetze Ägypter gegen Ägypter / und sie kämpfen gegeneinander:
Bruder gegen Bruder, Nachbar gegen Nachbar, / Stadt gegen Stadt, Königreich gegen Königreich.3Der Geist Ägyptens wird in seinem Innern verstört, / seinen Plan verwirre ich.
Dann befragen sie die Götter und die Zauberer, / die Totengeister und die Wahrsager.4Und ich werde die Ägypter in die Hand eines harten Herrn ausliefern, / ein starker König wird über sie herrschen - / Spruch Gottes, des HERRN der Heerscharen.5Das Wasser läuft aus dem Meer aus, / der Fluss verödet und vertrocknet.6Die Kanäle stinken, / seicht und verödet sind die Nilarme Ägyptens, / Rohr und Schilf verwelken.7Die Binsen am Nil, an der Mündung des Nil, / die ganze Saat des Nil ist vertrocknet, / verweht und dahin.8Die Fischer klagen und trauern, / alle, die die Angel im Nil auswerfen.
Die das Fischernetz auf dem Wasser auslegen, / sind bekümmert.9Es werden zuschanden, die den Flachs bearbeiten, / ihn hecheln, und die Weber erblassen.10Die Seiler sind niedergeschlagen; / alle Lohnarbeiter sind in der Seele betrübt.11Ja, Narren sind die Fürsten von Zoan, / die weisen Ratgeber des Pharao, der Rat hat sich als dumm erwiesen.
Wie könnt ihr zum Pharao sagen: / Ein Sohn der Weisen bin ich, ein Sohn königlicher Vorfahren?12Wo sind denn deine Weisen? / Sie sollen dir doch kundtun und erkennen, / was der HERR der Heerscharen beschlossen hat über Ägypten.13Die Fürsten von Zoan sind zu Toren geworden, / die Fürsten von Memfis haben sich täuschen lassen. / Die Ecktürme seiner Stämme haben Ägypten zum Taumeln gebracht.14Der HERR hat in seiner Mitte einen Geist der Verwirrung gemischt, / sodass sie Ägypten zum Taumeln brachten bei all seinem Unternehmen, / wie das Taumeln eines Volltrunkenen in seinem Erbrochenen.15Und für Ägypten wird es kein Unternehmen mehr geben, / das Kopf oder Schwanz, / Sprosse oder Schilfhalm unternimmt. Fünf Ankündigungen über Ägypten und Assur
16An jenem Tag wird Ägypten wie die Frauen sein: Es wird zittern und erschrecken vor dem Schwingen der Hand des HERRN der Heerscharen, die er gegen es schwingt.17Das Land Juda wird für Ägypten zur Bestürzung werden. Jeder, den man daran erinnert, erschrickt vor dem Plan des HERRN der Heerscharen, den er gegen es plant.18An jenem Tag werden fünf Städte im Land Ägypten sein, die die Sprache Kanaans sprechen und beim HERRN der Heerscharen schwören. Eine von ihnen wird Ir-Ha-Cheres - Sonnenstadt - heißen.19An jenem Tag wird es einen Altar für den HERRN mitten im Land Ägypten geben und ein Steinmal an seiner Grenze für den HERRN.20Das wird zum Zeichen und zum Zeugnis für den HERRN der Heerscharen in Ägypten sein: Wenn sie vor den Unterdrückern zum HERRN schreien, schickt er ihnen einen Retter, der den Streit führen und sie befreien wird.21Der HERR wird sich den Ägyptern offenbaren und die Ägypter werden den HERRN erkennen an jenem Tag; sie werden ihm dienen mit Schlachtopfern und Speiseopfern, sie werden dem HERRN Gelübde geloben und erfüllen.22Schlagen wird der HERR die Ägypter, schlagen und heilen. Kehren sie um zum HERRN, lässt er sich von ihren Bitten bewegen und heilt sie.23An jenem Tag wird es eine Straße von Ägypten nach Assur geben, sodass Assur nach Ägypten und Ägypten nach Assur kommt. Und Ägypten wird Assur dienen.24An jenem Tag wird Israel neben Ägypten und Assur der Dritte sein, ein Segen inmitten der Erde.25Denn der HERR der Heerscharen hat es gesegnet, indem er sprach: Gesegnet ist mein Volk, Ägypten, und das Werk meiner Hände, Assur, und mein Erbbesitz, Israel!

Profezia contro l’Egitto
1Oracolo sull’Egitto. Ecco, il Signore cavalca una nuvola leggera ed entra in Egitto; gli idoli d’Egitto tremano davanti a lui e all’Egitto si scioglie il cuore nel petto.2«Io inciterò Egiziani contro Egiziani, combatteranno il fratello contro il fratello, il vicino contro il vicino, città contro città, regno contro regno.3Lo spirito che anima l’Egitto svanirà, io renderò vani i suoi disegni; quelli consulteranno gli idoli, gli incantatori, gli evocatori di spiriti e gli indovini.4Io darò l’Egitto in mano a un signore duro, un re crudele dominerà su di lui», dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti.5Le acque verranno meno al mare[1], il fiume diverrà secco, arido;6i ruscelli diventeranno infetti, i canali d’Egitto scemeranno e resteranno asciutti, le canne e i giunchi deperiranno.7Le praterie lungo il Nilo e alla foce del Nilo, tutti i seminati presso il Nilo seccheranno, diverranno brulli, spariranno.8I pescatori gemeranno, tutti quelli che gettano l’amo nel Nilo saranno in lutto; quelli che stendono le reti sulle acque languiranno.9Coloro che lavorano il lino pettinato e i tessitori di cotone saranno confusi.10Le colonne del paese saranno infrante, tutti quelli che vivono di un salario saranno nella tristezza.11I prìncipi di Soan non sono che degli stolti; i più saggi tra i consiglieri del faraone danno dei consigli insensati. Come potete mai dire al faraone: «Io sono figlio dei saggi, figlio degli antichi re?»12Dove sono i tuoi saggi? Te lo annuncino essi e lo riconoscano essi stessi ciò che il Signore degli eserciti ha deciso contro l’Egitto!13I prìncipi di Soan sono diventati stolti, i prìncipi di Nof[2] s’ingannano; hanno traviato l’Egitto, essi, la pietra angolare delle sue tribù.14Il Signore ha messo in loro uno spirito di vertigine ed essi fanno barcollare l’Egitto in ogni sua impresa, come l’ubriaco, che barcolla vomitando.15Nulla gioverà all’Egitto di ciò che potranno fare il capo o la coda, la palma o il giunco.16In quel giorno l’Egitto sarà come le donne: tremerà, sarà spaventato, vedendo la mano del Signore degli eserciti che si agita, che si agita minacciosa contro di lui.17Il paese di Giuda sarà il terrore dell’Egitto; tutte le volte che gli verrà menzionato, ne sarà spaventato a causa della decisione presa contro di lui dal Signore degli eserciti.18In quel giorno vi saranno nel paese d’Egitto cinque città che parleranno la lingua di Canaan e che giureranno per il Signore degli eserciti; una di esse si chiamerà: «Città del sole».19In quel giorno, in mezzo al paese d’Egitto, ci sarà un altare eretto al Signore, e presso la frontiera una colonna consacrata al Signore.20Sarà per il Signore degli eserciti un segno e una testimonianza nel paese d’Egitto; quando essi grideranno al Signore a motivo dei loro oppressori, egli manderà loro un salvatore e un difensore a liberarli.21Il Signore si farà conoscere all’Egitto e gli Egiziani, in quel giorno, conosceranno il Signore, gli offriranno un culto con sacrifici e offerte, faranno voti al Signore e li adempiranno.22Così il Signore colpirà gli Egiziani: li colpirà e li guarirà; essi si convertiranno al Signore, che si arrenderà alle loro suppliche e li guarirà.23In quel giorno ci sarà una strada dall’Egitto in Assiria; gli Assiri andranno in Egitto e gli Egiziani in Assiria; gli Egiziani serviranno il Signore con gli Assiri.24In quel giorno Israele sarà terzo con l’Egitto e con l’Assiria, e tutti e tre saranno una benedizione in mezzo alla terra.25Il Signore degli eserciti li benedirà, dicendo: «Benedetti siano l’Egitto, mio popolo, l’Assiria, opera delle mie mani, e Israele, mia eredità!»
