The Call of Jeremiah
4Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Isa 44:2; Isa 49:6; Jer 25:15; Joh 10:36)6Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” (Ex 4:10; 1Ki 3:7)7But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. (Jer 1:17; Eze 2:7)8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” (Ex 3:12; Jer 15:20; Eze 2:6; Eze 3:9)9Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. Berufung Jeremias zum Propheten
4Das Wort des HERRN erging an mich:5Noch ehe ich dich im Mutterleib formte, habe ich dich ausersehen, noch ehe du aus dem Mutterschoß hervorkamst, habe ich dich geheiligt, zum Propheten für die Völker habe ich dich bestimmt. (Isa 49:1; Ga 1:15)6Da sagte ich: Ach, Herr und GOTT, ich kann doch nicht reden, ich bin ja noch so jung.7Aber der HERR erwiderte mir: Sag nicht: Ich bin noch so jung. Wohin ich dich auch sende, dahin sollst du gehen, und was ich dir auftrage, das sollst du verkünden.8Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen; denn ich bin mit dir, um dich zu retten - Spruch des HERRN. (Jer 1:19; Jer 30:11)9Dann streckte der HERR seine Hand aus, berührte meinen Mund und sagte zu mir: Hiermit lege ich meine Worte in deinen Mund.10Sieh her! Am heutigen Tag setze ich dich über Völker und Reiche; du sollst ausreißen und niederreißen, vernichten und zerstören, aufbauen und einpflanzen.11Das Wort des HERRN erging an mich: Was siehst du, Jeremia? Ich antwortete: Einen Mandelzweig sehe ich.12Da sprach der HERR zu mir: Du hast richtig gesehen; denn ich wache über mein Wort und führe es aus.13Abermals erging an mich das Wort des HERRN: Was siehst du? Ich antwortete: Einen dampfenden Kessel sehe ich; sein Rand neigt sich von Norden her.14Da sprach der HERR zu mir: Von Norden her ergießt sich das Unheil über alle Bewohner des Landes. (Jer 4:6; Jer 6:1; Jer 10:22; Jer 50:41)15Ja, ich rufe alle Stämme der Nordreiche - Spruch des HERRN -, damit sie kommen und ihre Richterstühle an den Toreingängen Jerusalems aufstellen, gegen all seine Mauern ringsum und gegen alle Städte von Juda.16Dann werde ich mein Urteil über sie sprechen für alles Böse, weil sie mich verlassen, anderen Göttern geopfert und das Werk ihrer eigenen Hände angebetet haben.17Du aber gürte dich, tritt vor sie hin und verkünde ihnen alles, was ich dir auftrage! Erschrick nicht vor ihnen, sonst setze ich dich vor ihren Augen in Schrecken!18Siehe, ich selbst mache dich heute zur befestigten Stadt, zur eisernen Säule und zur bronzenen Mauer gegen das ganze Land, gegen die Könige, Beamten und Priester von Juda und gegen die Bürger des Landes. L’appel de Jérémie
4L’Eternel m’adressa la parole en ces termes:5Avant de t’avoir formé dans le sein de ta mère, je t’ai choisi; et avant ta naissance, je t’ai consacré: je t’ai destiné à être prophète pour les peuples.6Je répondis: Hélas, Seigneur Eternel, je ne sais pas m’exprimer, car je suis un adolescent.7Mais l’Eternel me répondit: Ne dis pas: « Je suis un adolescent »; tu iras trouver tous ceux auprès de qui je t’enverrai, et tu leur diras tout ce que je t’ordonnerai.8N’aie pas peur de ces gens, car je suis avec toi pour te délivrer, l’Eternel le déclare.9Alors l’Eternel tendit la main et me toucha la bouche, et il me dit: Tu vois: je mets mes paroles dans ta bouche.10Sache que je te confie aujourd’hui une mission envers les peuples et les royaumes: celle d’arracher et de renverser, de ruiner et de détruire, de construire et de planter[4]. 11L’Eternel m’adressa encore la parole en ces termes: Que vois-tu, Jérémie? Je répondis: Je vois une branche d’amandier.12– Tu as bien vu, me dit l’Eternel. Eh bien, je veille[5] sur ma parole pour accomplir ce que j’ai dit.13Puis l’Eternel m’adressa une seconde fois la parole: Que vois-tu encore? Et je répondis: Je vois un chaudron en train de bouillir et qui se trouve au nord.14Et l’Eternel me dit: C’est, en effet, du nord[6] ╵que le malheur viendra se déverser ╵sur tous les habitants de ce pays. (Jer 6:22; Jer 8:16; Jer 10:22)15Car je vais appeler ╵tous les peuples des royaumes du Nord, l’Eternel le déclare. Ils viendront, et chacun ╵installera son trône devant les portes de Jérusalem, face à tous ses remparts, et à tous ceux ╵des villes de Juda.16Et je rendrai mon jugement ╵contre les habitants de ce pays pour tout le mal qu’ils ont commis; parce qu’ils m’ont abandonné, qu’ils offrent de l’encens ╵à d’autres dieux, et se prosternent ╵devant les dieux ╵qu’ils se sont fabriqués.17Toi donc, tu mettras ta ceinture[7] et tu te lèveras, ╵tu leur diras tout ce que je t’ordonnerai. Ne te laisse pas terrifier par eux, sinon c’est moi qui, devant eux, ╵m’en vais te terrifier.18Et moi dès aujourd’hui, ╵je fais de toi ╵comme une ville fortifiée, comme un pilier de fer ╵et un rempart de bronze ╵face à tout le pays: face aux rois de Juda, ╵à ses ministres, à ses prêtres et à son peuple.19Ils te feront la guerre, mais ils ne l’emporteront pas sur toi, car je suis avec toi, ╵l’Eternel le déclare, ╵je te délivrerai.
