1Behold, the Lord will empty the earth[1] and make it desolate, and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants. (Joe 1:10; Joe 1:12)8The mirth of the tambourines is stilled, the noise of the jubilant has ceased, the mirth of the lyre is stilled. (Jer 7:34; Ho 2:11; Am 8:10)9No more do they drink wine with singing; strong drink is bitter to those who drink it. (Am 6:5)10The wasted city is broken down; every house is shut up so that none can enter. (Isa 23:1; Isa 34:11)11There is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine; all joy has grown dark; the gladness of the earth is banished. (Ps 144:14; Isa 24:7; Joe 1:5; Joe 1:12)12Desolation is left in the city; the gates are battered into ruins.13For thus it shall be in the midst of the earth among the nations, as when an olive tree is beaten, as at the gleaning when the grape harvest is done. (Isa 17:6; Mic 7:1)14They lift up their voices, they sing for joy; over the majesty of the Lord they shout from the west.[2]15Therefore in the east[3] give glory to the Lord; in the coastlands of the sea, give glory to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel. For the windows of heaven are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble. YHVH ha pronunciado esta palabra:4De duelo está la tierra, se reseca; Languidece el universo, se marchita; Los encumbrados de la tierra desfallecen.5La tierra fue contaminada por sus moradores, Porque transgredieron las leyes, falsearon el derecho y quebrantaron el pacto eterno.6Por esto una maldición devora la tierra, Y sus habitantes lo pagan. Por esta causa los habitantes de la tierra son consumidos, Y la humanidad ha disminuido.7El vino nuevo languidece, marchítase la vid, Y gime el corazón otrora alegre.8Cesa el júbilo de los panderos, Cesa el bullicio de quienes se divierten, Cesa la armonía del arpa.9Ya no se bebe vino entre canciones Y el licor sabe amargo al que lo bebe.10Quebrantada está la ciudad del caos. Toda casa está cerrada, para que nadie pueda entrar.11Hay lamentos en las plazas por la falta de vino. Todo gozo se ha ensombrecido, La alegría se ha ido de la tierra.12En la ciudad sólo quedan escombros; Sus puertas han sido heridas con la ruina.13En medio de la tierra y en medio de los pueblos, Sucederá lo que en el vareo del olivo, O en el rebusco después de la vendimia.14A causa de la majestad de YHVH, Alzarán la voz desde el poniente, diciendo:15¡Aclamad desde el oriente a YHVH, De las costas del mar, al nombre de YHVH, Dios de Israel!16Desde el confín de la tierra oímos cánticos: ¡Gloria al Justo! Pero yo digo: ¡Qué dolor, qué dolor, ay de mí! Los traidores traicionan, Los traidores traicionan traidoramente.17¡Terror, fosa y red sobre ti, Oh morador de la tierra!18El que escape del grito de pánico caerá en la fosa; El que salga del fondo de la fosa, quedará atrapado en la red. Las ventanas de lo alto se han abierto, Se conmueven los cimientos de la tierra.19La tierra se sacude y se agrieta, La tierra se deshace en pedazos, La tierra tiembla una y otra vez,20La tierra se tambalea, Vacila como un ebrio, Se tambalea como una barraca, ¡Tanto le pesa su pecado! Se desploma, y no se alza más.21Aquel día YHVH castigará en lo alto al ejército de las alturas, Y a los reyes de la tierra en la tierra:22Se agrupan en montones y quedan encerrados, presos en mazmorras; Después de muchos días serán visitados.23La luna se avergonzará, y el sol se confundirá, Cuando YHVH Sebaot reine en el Monte Sión y en Jerusalem, Y la gloria esté delante de sus ancianos.
