1 Ausspruch über Moab. Ja, über Nacht ist Ar-Moab verwüstet, vernichtet; ja, über Nacht ist Kir-Moab verwüstet, vernichtet. (4Mo 21,28; 5Mo 2,9) 2 Man[1] steigt zum ⟨Götzen⟩tempel[2] hinauf und nach Dibon[3] auf die Höhen, um zu weinen; auf[4] Nebo und auf[5] Medeba jammert Moab. Auf allen seinen Köpfen ist eine Glatze, jeder Bart ist abgeschoren. (3Mo 21,5; 4Mo 21,30; 4Mo 32,3; Jes 3,24; Hes 7,18; Am 8,10) 3 Auf seinen Gassen gürten sie sich Sacktuch um; auf seinen Dächern und auf seinen ⟨Markt⟩plätzen jammert alles, in Tränen zerfließend. (Kla 2,10) 4 Heschbon und Elale schreien um Hilfe; bis Jahaz hört man ihre Stimme. Darum erheben die Gerüsteten[6] Moabs das Kriegsgeschrei, es zittert um sein Leben[7]. (4Mo 21,23; 4Mo 32,3) 5 Mein Herz schreit um Hilfe für Moab – seine Flüchtlinge ⟨fliehen⟩ bis nach Zoar, nach Eglat-Schelischija. Ja, die Anhöhe[8] von Luhit steigt man mit Weinen hinauf; ja, auf dem Weg nach Horonajim erhebt man Geschrei über den Zusammenbruch[9]. (1Mo 19,22) 6 Ja, die Wasser von Nimrim sollen zu Wüsten werden. Ja, verdorrt ist das Gras, verwelkt das Kraut; das Grün ist nicht mehr da. (4Mo 32,3) 7 Darum trägt man über den Pappelbach, was man übrig hat und was man aufbewahrt hat. 8 Ja, das Wehgeschrei umkreist[10] das Gebiet von Moab; bis nach Eglajim ⟨dringt⟩ sein Jammern und nach Beer-Elim sein Jammern. (4Mo 21,16) 9 Ja, die Wasser von Dimon sind voller Blut. Denn ich verhänge noch mehr ⟨Unheil⟩ über Dimon: einen Löwen über die Entkommenen Moabs und über den Rest des Landes. (4Mo 21,30)

1 Die Last über Moab: Über Nacht wird Ar-Moab verwüstet, es ist vertilgt! Über Nacht wird Kir-Moab verwüstet, es ist vertilgt! (4Mo 21,28; 5Mo 2,9; 2Kön 3,25; Jes 16,7; Jes 16,11) 2 Man steigt zum [Götzen-]Haus hinauf und nach Dibon zu den Höhen, um zu weinen; Moab jammert auf dem Nebo und in Medeba; auf allen seinen Häuptern sind Glatzen, und alle Bärte sind abgeschnitten. (3Mo 21,5; 4Mo 21,30; 5Mo 32,49; 5Mo 34,1; Jes 16,12; Am 8,10) 3 Auf ihren Gassen sind sie mit Sacktuch umgürtet; auf ihren Dächern und Plätzen jammert alles und zerfließt in Tränen. (Jer 48,37; Hes 7,18) 4 Hesbon und Eleale schreien, bis Jahaz hört man ihre Stimme. Darum werden Moabs Bewaffnete laut aufschreien, der Mut wird ihnen entsinken. (4Mo 21,23; 4Mo 32,3; Jer 48,34; Hes 21,12) 5 Von Herzen jammere ich um Moab; sie fliehen bis nach Zoar, nach Eglath-Schelischija; sie steigen weinend die Anhöhe nach Luchit hinauf, auf dem Weg nach Horonaim erheben sie ein erschütterndes Geschrei. (1Mo 13,10; 1Mo 19,22; Jes 15,8; Jes 16,9; Jes 16,11; Jer 48,3; Jer 48,31; Jer 48,34) 6 Denn die Wasser von Nimrim sollen zu Wüsten werden; ja, das Gras ist verdorrt, alles Kraut abgefressen, kein grünes Hälmchen ist mehr da! (4Mo 32,3; 4Mo 32,36; Jes 16,10; Jer 48,34) 7 Darum tragen sie den Rest ihrer Habe, was sie noch retten konnten, über den Weidenbach. (Jes 5,29; Nah 2,12) 8 Ja, das Geschrei geht im ganzen Land Moab um; ihr Wehklagen reicht bis nach Eglaim, bis nach Beer-Elim ihr Geheul. (4Mo 21,16; Jes 15,5) 9 Denn die Wasser Dimons sind voll Blut; ja, ich verhänge noch mehr über Dimon: über die entkommenen Moabiter kommt ein Löwe, auch über den Überrest, der noch im Land ist. (2Kön 17,25; Jes 14,30; Jes 15,2; Jes 16,14)

1 A prophecy against Moab: Ar in Moab is ruined, destroyed in a night! Kir in Moab is ruined, destroyed in a night! 2 Dibon goes up to its temple, to its high places to weep; Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba. Every head is shaved and every beard cut off. 3 In the streets they wear sackcloth; on the roofs and in the public squares they all wail, prostrate with weeping. 4 Heshbon and Elealeh cry out, their voices are heard all the way to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry out, and their hearts are faint. 5 My heart cries out over Moab; her fugitives flee as far as Zoar, as far as Eglath Shelishiyah. They go up the hill to Luhith, weeping as they go; on the road to Horonaim they lament their destruction. 6 The waters of Nimrim are dried up and the grass is withered; the vegetation is gone and nothing green is left. 7 So the wealth they have acquired and stored up they carry away over the Ravine of the Poplars. 8 Their outcry echoes along the border of Moab; their wailing reaches as far as Eglaim, their lamentation as far as Beer Elim. 9 The waters of Dimon[1] are full of blood, but I will bring still more upon Dimon[2] – a lion upon the fugitives of Moab and upon those who remain in the land.

1 The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; 2 He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off. 3 In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly. 4 And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his life shall be grievous unto him. 5 My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction. 6 For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing. 7 Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away to the brook of the willows. 8 For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beerelim. 9 For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of the land.
