1Ausspruch ⟨über das⟩ Tal der Offenbarung[1]. Was ist dir denn, dass du insgesamt auf die Dächer gestiegen bist? (Jer 19,13; Jer 21,13; Jer 32,29; Zef 1,5)2⟨Du⟩ lärmende Stadt voller Getümmel, du ausgelassene Stadt, deine Erschlagenen sind nicht mit dem Schwert Erschlagene[2] und nicht in der Schlacht Getötete! (2Kön 16,9; Jes 11,11)7Und es wird geschehen, deine auserlesenen Talebenen sind voller Wagen, und die Reiter nehmen Stellung gegen das Tor. (Hes 4,2)8Da nimmt man Judas Schutz weg[5]. Aber du blickst an jenem Tag nach den Waffen des Waldhauses. (1Kön 10,17)9Und ihr seht die Risse der Stadt Davids, dass sie zahlreich sind, und ihr sammelt das Wasser des unteren Teiches. (2Chr 32,4)10Auch zählt ihr die Häuser von Jerusalem und brecht die Häuser ab, um die Mauer unzugänglich zu machen. (Jer 33,4)11Und ihr macht ein Sammelbecken zwischen den beiden Mauern für die Wasser des alten Teiches. Aber ihr blickt nicht auf den, der es getan, und seht den nicht an, der es lange vorher[6] gebildet hat[7]. – (2Kön 20,20; Jes 7,3; Jes 37,26)12Und an jenem Tag ruft der Herr, der HERR der Heerscharen, zum Weinen und zur Wehklage auf, zum Kahlscheren und zum Umgürten von Sacktuch. (Jes 37,1; Joe 1,13; Joe 2,12; Mi 1,16; Jak 4,9)13Aber siehe, Wonne und Freude, Rindertöten und Schafeschlachten, Fleischessen und Weintrinken: Lasst uns essen und trinken, denn morgen sterben wir! (Jes 5,11; Jes 56,12; 1Kor 15,32)14Aber der HERR der Heerscharen hat sich meinen Ohren offenbart: Wenn euch diese Schuld vergeben wird, bis ihr sterbt[8], spricht der Herr, der HERR der Heerscharen. 15So sprach der Herr, der HERR der Heerscharen: Auf! Geh zu diesem Verwalter da, zu Schebna, der über das Haus ⟨des Königs bestellt⟩ ist⟨, und sprich⟩: (2Kön 18,18; Jes 36,3; Jes 37,2)16Was hast du hier, und wen hast du hier, dass du dir hier ein Grab aushaust? – ⟨du,⟩ der sein Grab aushaut ⟨hier⟩ auf der Höhe, sich eine Wohnung in den Felsen meißelt? (Hi 3,14)17Siehe, der HERR wird dich weit wegschleudern, ⟨dich⟩ hin- und herschütteln, Mann[9]! Er wird dich fest packen, (Jer 10,18)18zu[10] einem Knäuel wird er dich fest zusammenwickeln, wie den Ball ⟨dich wegschleudern⟩[11] in ein Land, das nach beiden Seiten weit ausgedehnt ist. Dort wirst du sterben, und dorthin ⟨kommen⟩ deine Prunkwagen, du Schande für das Haus deines Herrn! (Am 7,17)19Und ich werde dich von deinem Posten wegstoßen, und aus deiner Stellung wird man dich herunterreißen. –20Und es wird geschehen an jenem Tag, da werde ich meinen Knecht Eljakim rufen, den Sohn des Hilkija. (2Kön 18,18; Jes 36,3; Jes 37,2)21Und ich werde ihn mit deinem Leibrock bekleiden und ihm deinen Gürtel[12] fest umbinden und werde deine Herrschaft in seine Hand geben. Und er wird den Bewohnern von Jerusalem und dem Haus Juda zum Vater sein. (1Mo 45,8)22Und ich werde den Schlüssel des Hauses David auf seine Schulter legen. Er wird öffnen, und niemand wird schließen, er wird schließen, und niemand wird öffnen. (Hi 12,14; Offb 3,7)23Und ich werde ihn als Pflock einschlagen an einen festen Ort; und er wird seinem Vaterhaus zum Thron der Würde[13] sein. (Esr 9,8; Sach 10,4)24Dann werden sie sich an ihn hängen – die ganze Bürde[14] seines Vaterhauses: die Sprösslinge und die Schösslinge, alle kleinen Gefäße, von den Beckengefäßen bis zu allen Kruggefäßen. (1Mo 47,11)25An jenem Tag, spricht der HERR[15] der Heerscharen, wird der Pflock weichen, der an einem festen Ort eingeschlagen war, und er wird abgehauen werden und fallen, und die Last, die er trug, wird beseitigt werden. Denn der HERR hat geredet. (Ps 146,3; Jer 25,22; Hes 26,1; Am 1,9; Sach 9,2)
1A prophecy against the Valley of Vision: What troubles you now, that you have all gone up on the roofs,2you town so full of commotion, you city of tumult and revelry? Your slain were not killed by the sword, nor did they die in battle.3All your leaders have fled together; they have been captured without using the bow. All you who were caught were taken prisoner together, having fled while the enemy was still far away.4Therefore I said, ‘Turn away from me; let me weep bitterly. Do not try to console me over the destruction of my people.’5The Lord, the Lord Almighty, has a day of tumult and trampling and terror in the Valley of Vision, a day of battering down walls and of crying out to the mountains.6Elam takes up the quiver, with her charioteers and horses; Kir uncovers the shield.7Your choicest valleys are full of chariots, and horsemen are posted at the city gates.8The Lord stripped away the defences of Judah, and you looked in that day to the weapons in the Palace of the Forest.9You saw that the walls of the City of David were broken through in many places; you stored up water in the Lower Pool.10You counted the buildings in Jerusalem and tore down houses to strengthen the wall.11You built a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the Old Pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or have regard for the One who planned it long ago.12The Lord, the Lord Almighty, called you on that day to weep and to wail, to tear out your hair and put on sackcloth.13But see, there is joy and revelry, slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine! ‘Let us eat and drink,’ you say, ‘for tomorrow we die!’14The Lord Almighty has revealed this in my hearing: ‘Till your dying day this sin will not be atoned for,’ says the Lord, the Lord Almighty.15This is what the Lord, the Lord Almighty, says: ‘Go, say to this steward, to Shebna the palace administrator:16what are you doing here and who gave you permission to cut out a grave for yourself here, hewing your grave on the height and chiselling your resting-place in the rock?17‘Beware, the Lord is about to take firm hold of you and hurl you away, you mighty man.18He will roll you up tightly like a ball and throw you into a large country. There you will die and there the chariots you were so proud of will become a disgrace to your master’s house.19I will depose you from your office, and you will be ousted from your position.20‘In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah.21I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the people of Judah.22I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no-one can shut, and what he shuts no-one can open.23I will drive him like a peg into a firm place; he will become a seat[1] of honour for the house of his father.24All the glory of his family will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots – all its lesser vessels, from the bowls to all the jars.25‘In that day,’ declares the Lord Almighty, ‘the peg driven into the firm place will give way; it will be sheared off and will fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut down.’ The Lord has spoken.
