Ausspruch über die Philister: Eroberung ihrer Städte
1Was als Wort des HERRN zu dem Propheten Jeremia geschah über[1] die Philister, ehe der Pharao Gaza schlug: (Jer 25,20; Hes 25,15; Am 1,6; Zef 2,4; Apg 8,26)2So spricht der HERR: Siehe, Wasser steigt herauf von Norden her und wird zu einem überschwemmenden Wildbach. Und es überschwemmt das Land und seine Fülle, die Städte und ihre Bewohner. Und es schreien die Menschen um Hilfe, und alle Bewohner des Landes heulen (Jer 6,22; Jer 46,7; Jer 46,20; Offb 17,15)3vor dem lauten Stampfen[2] der Hufe seiner starken ⟨Pferde⟩, vor dem Getöse seiner Wagen, dem Rasseln seiner Räder – Väter sehen sich nicht um nach den Söhnen, weil ihre Hände schlaff geworden sind[3] –, (Jes 5,28; Nah 3,2)4wegen des Tages, der kommt, um alle Philister zu vernichten und auch den letzten Helfer[4] für Tyrus und Sidon auszurotten. Denn der HERR vernichtet die Philister, den Rest⟨, der von⟩ der Insel Kaftor ⟨gekommen ist⟩. (1Mo 10,14; Am 9,7)5Kahlheit ist über Gaza gekommen, vernichtet ist Aschkelon. Du Rest der Enakiter[5], wie lange willst du dich ritzen? – (1Kön 18,28; Jer 16,6; Sach 9,5)6Wehe! Schwert des HERRN, wie lange ⟨noch⟩ willst du nicht Ruhe geben? Fahre zurück in deine Scheide, halte dich ruhig und bleibe still! (Jer 12,12)7Wie sollte es ruhig bleiben, da doch der HERR ihm geboten hat? Gegen Aschkelon und gegen die Küste des Meeres, dorthin hat er es bestellt. (Hes 14,17; Hes 21,9)

They will overflow the land and everything in it, the towns and those who live in them. The people will cry out; all who dwell in the land will wail3at the sound of the hooves of galloping steeds, at the noise of enemy chariots and the rumble of their wheels. Parents will not turn to help their children; their hands will hang limp.4For the day has come to destroy all the Philistines and to remove all survivors who could help Tyre and Sidon. The Lord is about to destroy the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.[1]5Gaza will shave her head in mourning; Ashkelon will be silenced. You remnant on the plain, how long will you cut yourselves?6‘ “Alas, sword of the Lord, how long till you rest? Return to your sheath; cease and be still.”7But how can it rest when the Lord has commanded it, when he has ordered it to attack Ashkelon and the coast?’
