1Nach diesen Dingen geschah das Wort des HERRN zu Abram in einem Gesicht so: Fürchte dich nicht, Abram; ich bin dir ein Schild, dein Lohn ⟨ist⟩ sehr groß[1]. (1Mo 22,1; 1Mo 26,24; 1Mo 46,2; 2Kön 1,15; Ps 3,4; Ps 115,10; Jes 40,10)2Da sagte Abram: Herr, HERR, was willst du mir geben? Ich gehe ja doch kinderlos dahin, und Erbe[2] meines Hauses, das wird Eliëser von Damaskus.3Und Abram sagte: Siehe, mir hast du keinen Nachkommen gegeben, und siehe, der Sohn meines Hauses[3] wird mich beerben.4Und siehe, das Wort des HERRN ⟨geschah⟩ zu ihm: Nicht dieser wird dich beerben, sondern der aus deinem Leibe hervorgeht, der wird dich beerben. (1Mo 17,16)5Und er führte ihn hinaus und sprach: Blicke doch auf zum Himmel, und zähle die Sterne, wenn du sie zählen kannst! Und er sprach zu ihm: So ⟨zahlreich⟩ wird deine Nachkommenschaft sein! (1Mo 22,17; 1Mo 32,13; Jer 33,22; Röm 4,18; Hebr 11,12)6Und er glaubte dem[4] HERRN; und er rechnete es ihm als Gerechtigkeit an. (Ps 106,31; Röm 4,3; Gal 3,6; Jak 2,23)7Und er sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der HERR, der ich dich herausgeführt habe aus Ur⟨, der Stadt⟩ der Chaldäer, um dir dieses Land zu geben, es in Besitz zu nehmen. (1Mo 11,28; 1Mo 11,31; 1Mo 12,1; 2Mo 32,13; 4Mo 33,53; 5Mo 3,18)8Und er sagte: Herr, HERR, woran soll ich erkennen, dass ich es in Besitz nehmen werde? (Ri 6,17; 2Kön 20,8; Lk 1,18)9Da sprach er zu ihm: Bring mir eine dreijährige Jungkuh, eine dreijährige Ziege und einen dreijährigen Widder, eine Turteltaube und eine junge Taube.10Und er brachte ihm alle diese. Und er zerteilte sie in der Mitte und legte je einen Teil dem anderen gegenüber. Die Vögel aber zerteilte er nicht. (3Mo 1,17)11Da stießen die Raubvögel auf die toten Tiere[5] herab; aber Abram verscheuchte sie.12Und es geschah beim Untergang der Sonne, da fiel ein tiefer Schlaf auf Abram; und siehe, Schrecken, dichte Finsternis überfiel ihn. (1Sam 26,12; Hi 4,13)13Und er sprach zu Abram: Ganz gewiss sollst du wissen[6], dass deine Nachkommenschaft Fremdling sein wird in einem Land, das ihnen nicht gehört; und sie werden ihnen dienen, und man wird sie unterdrücken vierhundert Jahre lang. (2Mo 1,11; 2Mo 12,40; 4Mo 20,15)14Aber ich werde die Nation auch richten, der sie dienen; und danach werden sie ausziehen mit großer Habe. (2Mo 3,21; 2Mo 12,29; Apg 7,6)15Du aber, du wirst in Frieden zu deinen Vätern eingehen, wirst in gutem Alter begraben werden. (1Mo 25,8)16Und in der vierten Generation werden sie hierher zurückkehren; denn ⟨das Maß der⟩ Schuld des Amoriters ist bis jetzt ⟨noch⟩ nicht voll. (1Mo 10,16; 1Mo 48,21; 1Mo 50,24; 2Mo 13,4; 5Mo 9,4; Ps 105,43; 1Thess 2,16)17Und es geschah, als die Sonne untergegangen und Finsternis eingetreten war, siehe da, ein rauchender Ofen und eine Feuerfackel, die zwischen diesen Stücken hindurchfuhr[7]. (2Mo 20,18; Jer 34,18)18An jenem Tag schloss der HERR einen Bund mit Abram und sprach: Deinen Nachkommen habe ich dieses Land gegeben, vom Strom Ägyptens an bis zum großen Strom, dem Euphratstrom: (1Mo 2,14; 1Mo 12,7; 1Mo 17,2; 2Mo 2,24; 2Mo 23,31; 2Mo 34,24; 3Mo 26,42; 5Mo 1,7; 5Mo 19,8; Jos 1,4; 1Kön 5,1; Neh 9,8; Jer 32,22; Gal 3,17)19die Keniter und die Kenasiter und die Kadmoniter (1Sam 15,6)20und die Hetiter und die Perisiter und die Refaïter (1Mo 14,5; Jos 17,15)21und die Amoriter und die Kanaaniter und die Girgaschiter und die Jebusiter. (2Mo 3,8; 2Mo 23,23; 2Mo 33,2; 2Mo 34,11; 4Mo 13,29; 4Mo 21,32; 5Mo 20,17)
1Some time later, Abram had a vision. The LORD said to him, ‘Abram, do not be afraid. I am like a shield to you. I am your very great reward.’2But Abram said, ‘LORD and King, what can you give me? I still don’t have any children. My servant Eliezer comes from Damascus. When I die, he will get everything I own.’3Abram continued, ‘You haven’t given me any children. So this servant of mine will get everything I own.’4Then a message from the LORD came to Abram. The LORD said, ‘When you die, what you have will not go to this man. You will have a son of your own. He will get everything you have.’5The LORD took Abram outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky. Count the stars, if you can.’ Then he said to him, ‘That’s how many children will be born into your family.’6Abram believed the LORD. The LORD was pleased with Abram because he believed. So Abram’s faith made him right with the LORD.7He also said to Abram, ‘I am the LORD. I brought you out of Ur in the land of Babylon. I will give you this land to have as your very own.’8But Abram said, ‘LORD and King, how can I know I will have this land as my own?’9So the LORD said to him, ‘Bring me a young cow, a goat and a ram. Each must be three years old. Bring a dove and a young pigeon along with them.’10Abram brought all of them to the LORD. Abram cut them in two and placed the halves opposite each other. But he didn’t cut the birds in half.11Then large birds came down to eat the dead bodies of the animals and birds. But Abram chased the large birds away.12As the sun was going down, Abram fell into a deep sleep. A thick and frightening darkness covered him.13Then the LORD said to him, ‘You can be sure of what I am about to tell you. For 400 years, your family who comes after you will be strangers in another country. They will become slaves there and will be treated badly.14But I will punish the nation that makes them slaves. After that, they will leave with many possessions.15But you will die in peace. You will join the members of your family who have already died. And you will be buried when you are very old.16Your children’s grandchildren will come back here. That’s because the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached the point where I must punish them.’17The sun set and it became dark. Then a burning torch and a pot filled with smoking coals appeared. They passed between the pieces of the animals that had been cut in two.18On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram. He said, ‘I am giving this land to your family who comes after you. It reaches from the River of Egypt to the great River Euphrates.19It includes the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,20Hittites, Perizzites and Rephaites.21The Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites also live there.’
