1 Und es kamen^[1] Männer von den Ältesten Israels zu mir, und sie setzten sich vor mir nieder. (Hes 8,1) 2 Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir so: 3 Menschensohn, diese Männer haben ihre Götzen in ihrem Herzen aufkommen lassen und den Anstoß zu ihrer Schuld vor ihr Gesicht gestellt. 4 Darum rede mit ihnen und sage zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Jedermann vom Haus Israel, der seine Götzen in seinem Herzen aufkommen lässt und den Anstoß zu seiner Schuld vor seinem Gesicht aufrichtet und ⟨dann⟩ zum Propheten kommt – ich, der HERR, ich selbst^[2], lasse mich für ihn zu einer Antwort bewegen, gemäß^[3] der Menge seiner Götzen^[4], 5 damit ich das Haus Israel an seinem Herzen fasse, weil sie sich allesamt um ihrer Götzen willen von mir abgewandt haben. – (Jer 2,5) 6 Darum sage zum Haus Israel: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Kehrt um, und wendet euch ab von euren Götzen, und von allen euren Gräueln wendet euer Gesicht ab! (Hes 18,30; Sach 1,4) 7 Denn jedermann vom Haus Israel und von den Fremden, die sich in Israel aufhalten, der sich von mir^[5] trennt und seine Götzen in seinem Herzen aufkommen lässt und den Anstoß zu seiner Schuld vor seinem Gesicht aufrichtet und ⟨dann⟩ zum Propheten kommt, um mich für sich zu befragen – ich, der HERR, ich selbst, lasse mich für ihn zu einer Antwort bewegen. 8 Und ich richte mein Angesicht gegen einen solchen Mann und mache ihn zu einem Denkzeichen und zu Sprichwörtern^[6] und rotte ihn aus der Mitte meines Volkes aus. Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. – (5Mo 29,19; Ps 34,17) 9 Wenn aber der Prophet sich verleiten lässt und ein Wort redet, dann habe ich, der HERR, diesen Propheten verleitet; und ich werde meine Hand gegen ihn ausstrecken und ihn aus der Mitte meines Volkes Israel austilgen. (1Kön 22,22; Hes 13,9) 10 So sollen sie ⟨beide⟩ ihre Schuld tragen; wie die Schuld des Fragenden, so wird die Schuld des Propheten sein, (Jer 14,15) 11 damit das Haus Israel nicht mehr von mir^[7] abirrt und sie sich nicht mehr mit all ihren Vergehen unrein machen. Und sie werden mir zum Volk, und ich selbst werde ihnen zum Gott sein, spricht der Herr, HERR^[8]. (Hes 11,20; Sach 13,9)

Selbst Noah, Daniel und Hiob könnten das Gericht an Jerusalem nicht verhindern

12 Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir so: 13 Menschensohn, wenn ein Land gegen mich sündigt, indem es Untreue begeht, und ich meine Hand gegen es ausstrecke und ihm den Stab des Brotes zerbreche und Hunger hinein sende und aus ihm Menschen und Vieh ausrotte – (Hes 4,16) 14 und diese drei Männer wären in seiner Mitte: Noah, Daniel und Hiob –, es würde um ihrer Gerechtigkeit willen ⟨nur⟩ ihre eigene Seele gerettet werden, spricht der Herr, HERR^[9]. 15 ^[10] Oder ⟨wenn⟩ ich böse Tiere das Land durchstreifen lasse^[11], sodass sie es entvölkern und es eine Öde wird, weil wegen der Tiere niemand hindurchzieht – (Jes 51,19; Hes 5,17) 16 ⟨wären⟩ diese drei Männer in seiner Mitte, so wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, HERR^[12],^[13] sie würden weder Söhne noch Töchter retten^[14]; sie allein würden gerettet, das Land aber würde eine Öde werden. 17 Oder ⟨wenn⟩ ich das Schwert über jenes Land kommen lasse und spreche: Schwert, fahre durch das Land! und aus ihm Menschen und Vieh ausrotte – (Jer 47,7; Hes 21,8; Hes 33,2) 18 und diese drei Männer wären in seiner Mitte –, so wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, HERR^[15],^[16] sie würden weder Söhne noch Töchter retten^[17]; sondern sie allein würden gerettet werden. 19 Oder ⟨wenn⟩ ich die Pest in jenes Land sende und meinen Grimm in Blut über es ausgieße, um Menschen und Vieh darin auszurotten – (Jer 21,6) 20 und Noah, Daniel und Hiob wären in seiner Mitte –, so wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, HERR^[18],^[19] sie würden weder Sohn noch Tochter retten^[20]; sie würden um ihrer Gerechtigkeit willen ⟨nur⟩ ihre ⟨eigene⟩ Seele retten. 21 Denn so spricht der Herr, HERR^[21]: Ja, wenn ich nun meine vier bösen Gerichte, Schwert und Hunger und böse Tiere und die Pest, gegen Jerusalem entsende, um aus ihm Menschen und Vieh auszurotten! (Jes 51,19; Hes 5,12; Hes 5,17) 22 ^[22] Doch siehe, Entkommene bleiben darin übrig^[23], die herausgeführt werden, Söhne und Töchter. Siehe, sie werden zu euch hinausziehen, und ihr werdet ihren Weg und ihre Taten sehen; und ihr werdet euch trösten über das Unheil, das ich über Jerusalem habe kommen lassen, alles, was ich über es habe kommen lassen. (Hes 6,8) 23 Und sie werden euch trösten, wenn ihr ihren Weg und ihre Taten seht, und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich nicht ohne Ursache all das getan habe, was ich an ihm^[24] getan, spricht der Herr, HERR^[25]. 1 Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me. 2 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them? 4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols; 5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols. 6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. 7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself: 8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. 10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him ; 11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord GOD. 12 The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, 13 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: 14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD. 15 If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: 16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate. 17 Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it: 18 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves. 19 Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast: 20 Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness. 21 For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast? 22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it. 23 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.
