Isaak und Abimelech

1 Und es entstand eine Hungersnot im Lande, nach der vorigen Hungersnot, die in den Tagen Abrahams gewesen war. Da ging Isaak zu Abimelech, dem König der Philister, nach Gerar. (1Mo 12,10; 1Mo 20,1) 

2 Und der HERR erschien ihm und sprach: Zieh nicht hinab nach Ägypten; bleibe in dem Land, das ich dir sage! (Ps 25,12) 

3 Halte dich als Fremder auf in diesem Land! Und ich werde mit dir sein und dich segnen; denn dir und deinen Nachkommen werde ich alle diese Länder geben, und ich werde den Schwur aufrechterhalten, den ich deinem Vater Abraham geschworen habe. (1Mo 12,7; 1Mo 17,19; 1Mo 26,24; 2Mo 2,24; 2Mo 3,12; 4Mo 23,19; Ps 37,3; Ps 105,8; Hebr 11,9) 

4 Und ich werde deine Nachkommen zahlreich machen wie die Sterne des Himmels und deinen Nachkommen alle diese Länder geben; und mit deinen Nachkommen werden sich segnen alle Nationen der Erde (1Mo 12,3; 1Mo 22,17) 

5 dafür, dass Abraham meiner Stimme gehorcht und meine Vorschriften gehalten hat, meine Gebote, meine Ordnungen und meine Gesetze. (1Mo 22,18) 

6 So blieb Isaak in Gerar. (1Mo 20,1) 

7 Als nun die Männer des Ortes sich nach seiner Frau erkundigten, da sagte er: Sie ist meine Schwester. Denn er fürchtete sich zu sagen: meine Frau. ⟨Er dachte nämlich:⟩ Die Männer des Ortes könnten mich sonst wegen Rebekka erschlagen; denn sie ist schön von Aussehen. (1Mo 12,11) 

8 Und es geschah, als er längere Zeit dort war, da blickte Abimelech, der König der Philister, durchs Fenster herab und er sah, und siehe, Isaak koste mit Rebekka, seiner Frau. (Pred 9,9) 

9 Da rief Abimelech den Isaak und sagte: Siehe, sie ist ja deine Frau! Wie konntest du sagen: Sie ist meine Schwester? Da sagte Isaak zu ihm: Weil ich ⟨mir⟩ sagte: Ich könnte sonst ihretwegen sterben. 

10 Und Abimelech sprach: Was hast du uns da angetan! Wie leicht hätte einer aus dem Volk bei deiner Frau liegen können, und du hättest Schuld über uns gebracht. (1Mo 12,18) 

11 Und Abimelech befahl allem Volk: Wer diesen Mann und seine Frau antastet, muss getötet werden. (Ps 105,15) 

12 Und Isaak säte in diesem Land und gewann in jenem Jahr das Hundertfache; so segnete ihn der HERR. (1Mo 25,11; Spr 10,22) 

13 Und der Mann wurde reich und wurde immer reicher, bis er sehr reich war. 

14 Und er hatte Schafherden und Rinderherden und eine große Dienerschaft. Da beneideten ihn die Philister. (1Mo 13,2; Pred 4,4) 

15 Und alle Brunnen, die die Knechte seines Vaters in den Tagen seines Vaters Abraham gegraben hatten, die verstopften die Philister und füllten sie mit Erde. 

16 Und Abimelech sagte zu Isaak: Zieh weg von uns, denn du bist uns viel zu mächtig geworden! 

17 Da zog Isaak von dort ⟨weg⟩ und schlug sein Lager im Tal Gerar auf und blieb dort. 

18 Und Isaak grub die Wasserbrunnen wieder auf, die sie in den Tagen seines Vaters Abraham gegraben und die die Philister nach Abrahams Tod verstopft hatten; und er gab ihnen ⟨dieselben⟩ Namen wie die Namen, die ihnen sein Vater gegeben hatte. (1Mo 21,30) 

19 Und die Knechte Isaaks gruben im Tal und fanden dort einen Brunnen mit lebendigem Wasser. 

20 Da stritten sich die Hirten von Gerar mit den Hirten Isaaks und sagten: Uns gehört das Wasser! Da gab er dem Brunnen den Namen Esek, weil sie mit ihm gezankt hatten. (1Mo 21,25) 

21 Dann gruben sie einen anderen Brunnen, aber auch um den stritten sie sich. Da gab er ihm den Namen Sitna. (1Mo 21,25) 

22 Und er brach von dort auf und grub ⟨noch⟩ einen anderen Brunnen, und um den stritten sie sich nicht. Da gab er ihm den Namen Rechobot und sagte: Denn jetzt hat der HERR uns weiten Raum geschafft, und wir werden fruchtbar sein im Land. (Ps 119,32) 

23 Dann zog er von dort hinauf nach Beerscheba. (1Mo 21,31; Am 5,5) 

24 Und der HERR erschien ihm in jener Nacht und sprach: Ich bin der Gott deines Vaters Abraham. Fürchte dich nicht! Denn ich bin mit dir, und ich werde dich segnen und deine Nachkommen vermehren wegen meines Knechtes Abraham. (1Mo 15,1; 1Mo 17,7; 1Mo 26,3; 1Mo 31,5; 1Mo 39,2; 2Mo 14,13; 3Mo 26,42; 5Mo 31,6; Rut 3,11; 1Kön 17,13; Jes 41,10; Kla 3,57; Apg 18,9) 

25 Und er baute dort einen Altar und rief den Namen des HERRN an und schlug dort sein Zelt auf. Und die Knechte Isaaks gruben dort einen Brunnen. (1Mo 12,7; Hebr 11,9) 

26 Und Abimelech kam zu ihm aus Gerar mit seinem Freund Ahusat und seinem Heerobersten Pichol. 

27 Da sagte Isaak zu ihnen: Warum kommt ihr zu mir, da ihr mich doch hasst und mich von euch weggeschickt habt? (Ri 11,7) 

28 Sie aber sagten: Wir haben deutlich gesehen, dass der HERR mit dir ist; und wir haben ⟨uns⟩ gesagt: Es soll ein Schwur zwischen uns sein, zwischen uns und dir; wir wollen einen Bund mit dir schließen, (1Mo 21,22; 1Mo 21,23; 1Mo 31,44; 1Sam 18,28; 2Chr 15,9) 

29 dass du uns nichts Böses antust, so wie wir dich nicht angetastet haben und wie wir dir nur Gutes erwiesen und dich haben in Frieden ziehen lassen. Du bist nun einmal ein Gesegneter des HERRN. (1Mo 12,3; 1Mo 24,31) 

30 Da machte er ihnen ein Mahl, und sie aßen und tranken. (1Mo 31,54; 2Mo 18,12) 

31 Und sie standen früh am Morgen auf und schworen einer dem andern. Dann entließ Isaak sie, und sie gingen in Frieden von ihm fort. – (1Mo 21,27) 

32 Und es geschah an jenem Tag, da kamen Isaaks Knechte und berichteten ihm von dem Brunnen, den sie gegraben hatten, und sagten zu ihm: Wir haben Wasser gefunden. 

33 Da nannte er ihn Schibea; daher ⟨lautet⟩ der Name der Stadt Beerscheba bis auf diesen Tag. (1Mo 21,31; Am 5,5)

34 Und Esau war vierzig Jahre alt, da nahm er Jehudit, die Tochter des Hetiters Beeri, zur Frau und Basemat, die Tochter des Hetiters Elon. (1Mo 28,9; 1Mo 36,2) 

35 Und sie waren ein Herzeleid für Isaak und Rebekka. (1Mo 27,46; 1Mo 28,8)

1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. 

2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 

3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; 

4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 

5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. 

6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar: 

7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he , the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon. 

8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife. 

9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her. 

10 And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us. 

11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death. 

12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. 

13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: 

14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. 

15 For all the wells which his father' servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth. 

16 And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we. 

17 And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. 

18 And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them. 

19 And Isaac' servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water. 

20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac' herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him. 

21 And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah. 

22 And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. 

23 And he went up from thence to Beersheba. 

24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham' sake. 

25 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac' servants digged a well. 

26 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army. 

27 And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you? 

28 And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; 

29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD. 

30 And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink. 

31 And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace. 

32 And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac' servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water. 

33 And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day. 

34 And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite: 

35 Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.
