Abraham und Sara bei Abimelech

2 sagte Abraham von seiner Frau Sara: Sie ist meine Schwester. Da sandte Abimelech^[2], der König von Gerar, hin und ließ Sara holen^[3]. (1Mo 12,13) 3 Und Gott kam zu Abimelech im Traum der Nacht und sprach zu ihm: Siehe, du bist des Todes wegen der Frau, die du genommen hast; denn sie ist eine verheiratete Frau^[4]. 4 Abimelech aber hatte sich ihr nicht genaht; und er sprach: Herr, willst du denn eine gerechte Nation erschlagen? 5 Hat er nicht selbst zu mir gesagt: Sie ist meine Schwester? Und sie, auch sie selbst hat gesagt: Er ist mein Bruder. In Lauterkeit meines Herzens und in Unschuld meiner Hände habe ich das getan. (Ps 7,9) 6 Da sprach Gott im Traum zu ihm: Auch ich weiß^[5], dass du in Lauterkeit deines Herzens dies getan hast, und so habe ich selbst dich auch davon abgehalten, gegen mich zu sündigen; darum habe ich dir nicht gestattet, sie zu berühren. (1Mo 31,7; 1Sam 25,26; Spr 6,29) 7 Und nun, gib die Frau des Mannes zurück! Denn er ist ein Prophet und wird für dich bitten, dass du am Leben bleibst! Wenn du sie aber nicht zurückgibst, so wisse^[6], dass du sterben musst, du und alles, was ⟨zu⟩ dir gehört. (2Chr 30,18; Ps 105,14) 8 Und Abimelech stand früh am Morgen auf und rief alle seine Knechte und redete alle diese Worte vor ihren Ohren; da fürchteten sich die Männer sehr. 9 Und Abimelech rief Abraham und sagte zu ihm: Was hast du uns angetan! Und was habe ich an dir gesündigt, dass du über mich und über mein Königreich eine ⟨so⟩ große Sünde gebracht hast? Dinge^[7], die nicht getan werden dürfen, hast du mir angetan. (1Mo 12,18) 10 Und Abimelech sagte zu Abraham: Was hast du ⟨damit⟩ beabsichtigt, dass du dies getan hast? 11 Und Abraham sprach: Weil ich ⟨mir⟩ sagte: Gewiss gibt es keine Gottesfurcht an diesem Ort, und sie werden mich erschlagen um meiner Frau willen. (1Mo 12,12) 12 Und sie ist auch wirklich meine Schwester; die Tochter meines Vaters ist sie, nur nicht die Tochter meiner Mutter; so ist sie meine Frau geworden. 13 Und es geschah, als Gott mich aus meines Vaters Haus ⟨ziehen und⟩ umherirren ließ, da sagte ich zu ihr: Das sei deine Gefälligkeit^[8], die du mir erweisen mögest: An jedem Ort, wohin wir kommen, sage von mir: Er ist mein Bruder! 14 Da nahm Abimelech Schafe und Rinder und Knechte und Mägde und gab sie dem Abraham; und ⟨auch⟩ Sara, seine Frau, gab er ihm zurück. (1Mo 12,16) 15 Und Abimelech sagte: Siehe, mein Land ⟨liegt⟩ vor dir; wohne, wo es gut ist in deinen Augen! (1Mo 13,9; 1Mo 34,10; 1Mo 42,34) 16 Und zu Sara sagte er: Siehe, ich habe deinem Bruder tausend Silber⟨schekel⟩ gegeben; siehe, das sei zu deinen Gunsten eine Augendecke^[9] für alle, die bei dir sind, und du bist in allem gerechtfertigt^[10]. 17 Und Abraham betete zu Gott; und Gott heilte Abimelech und seine Frau und seine Mägde, sodass sie ⟨wieder Kinder⟩ gebaren. (1Mo 12,17; Hi 42,9; Jak 5,16) 18 Denn der HERR hatte jeden Mutterleib dem Haus Abimelech vollständig verschlossen um Saras willen, der Frau Abrahams.

1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man' wife. 4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? 5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. 6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. 8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. 10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife' sake. 12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. 13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father' house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. 14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. 16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other : thus she was reproved. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children . 18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham' wife.
