Die beiden unzüchtigen Schwestern Ohola und Oholiba

1 Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir so: 

2 Menschensohn, ⟨da gab es⟩ zwei Frauen, Töchter einer Mutter waren sie. 

3 Die hurten in Ägypten, ⟨bereits⟩ in ihrer Jugend hurten sie; dort wurden ihre Brüste gedrückt, und dort betastete man ihren jungfräulichen Busen. (Hes 20,7; Hes 23,19) 

4 Die Ältere hieß Ohola und ihre Schwester Oholiba. Und sie wurden mein und gebaren Söhne und Töchter. Und ⟨was⟩ ihre Namen ⟨betrifft⟩: Samaria ist Ohola, und Jerusalem ist Oholiba. (Jer 3,7) 

5 Und Ohola hurte von mir weg. Und sie hatte Verlangen nach ihren Liebhabern, den kampftüchtigen Assyrern, (Hos 5,13) 

6 gekleidet in violetten Purpur, den Statthaltern und Befehlshabern, anmutige junge Männer waren sie alle, Reiter, auf Pferden reitend. 

7 Und sie richtete ihre Hurereien auf sie. Die Auslese der Söhne Assur waren sie alle; und mit allen, nach denen sie Verlangen hatte, ⟨und⟩ mit all deren Götzen machte sie sich unrein. 

8 Auch ihre von Ägypten her ⟨gewohnten⟩ Hurereien ließ sie nicht; denn ⟨schon⟩ in ihrer Jugend hatten sie bei ihr gelegen und hatten ihren jungfräulichen Busen betastet und ihre Hurerei über sie ausgegossen. (Hes 20,7; Hes 23,19) 

9 Darum habe ich sie in die Hand ihrer Liebhaber gegeben, in die Hand der Söhne Assur, nach denen sie Verlangen hatte. (2Kön 15,29) 

10 Die haben ihre Blöße aufgedeckt, ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter weggenommen, und sie selbst haben sie mit dem Schwert erschlagen, sodass sie zum Gerede bei den Frauen wurde, und haben Strafgerichte an ihr geübt. 

11 Und ihre Schwester Oholiba sah es, und sie trieb es mit ihrem Verlangen verderblicher als sie und mit ihren Hurereien ⟨schlimmer⟩ als ihre Schwester mit ⟨ihren⟩ Hurereien. (Jer 3,6) 

12 Sie bekam Verlangen nach den Söhnen Assur, Statthaltern und Befehlshabern, Kämpfern, prächtig gekleidet, Reitern, auf Pferden reitend; anmutige junge Männer waren sie alle. (Hos 2,7) 

13 Und ich sah, dass sie sich unrein gemacht hatte: Dieselbe Art hatten sie beide. 

14 Aber sie trieb ihre Hurereien ⟨noch⟩ weiter: Denn sie sah Männer in Zeichnung an der Wand, Bilder von Chaldäern, mit roter Farbe eingezeichnet, (Jer 22,14) 

15 gegürtet mit einem Gurt an ihren Hüften, herabhängenden Turbanen auf ihren Köpfen, sie alle vom Aussehen hervorragender Kämpfer, ein Abbild der Söhne Babels, deren Geburtsland Chaldäa ist. 

16 Und als ihre Augen sie sahen, bekam sie Verlangen nach ihnen, und sie sandte Boten zu ihnen nach Chaldäa. (Jes 57,9) 

17 Da kamen die Söhne Babels zu ihr zum Liebeslager und machten sie durch ihre Hurerei unrein. Doch als sie sich an ihnen unrein gemacht hatte, wandte sich ihre Seele jäh von ihnen ab. 

18 Und als sie ⟨so⟩ ihre Hurereien aufgedeckt hatte und ihre Blöße aufgedeckt hatte, da wandte sich meine Seele jäh von ihr ab, ebenso wie meine Seele sich von ihrer Schwester jäh abgewandt hatte. (Jer 6,8) 

19 Sie aber vermehrte ⟨noch⟩ ihre Hurereien, indem sie an die Tage ihrer Jugend dachte, als sie im Land Ägypten gehurt hatte. 

20 Und sie bekam Verlangen nach ihren Liebhabern, deren Fleisch wie das Fleisch der Esel und deren Erguss wie der Erguss der Pferde ist. 

21 Und du sehntest dich nach der Schandtat deiner Jugend, als man in Ägypten deinen Busen betastete wegen deiner jugendlichen Brüste. – 

22 Darum, Oholiba, so spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich erwecke gegen dich deine Liebhaber, von denen deine Seele sich jäh abgewandt hat, und lasse sie von allen Seiten über dich kommen: (Jer 6,22) 

23 die Söhne Babels und alle Chaldäer, Pekod und Schoa und Koa, alle Söhne Assur mit ihnen, anmutige junge Männer, Statthalter und Befehlshaber sind sie alle, hervorragende Kämpfer und Räte, sie alle auf Pferden reitend. (Hes 21,24) 

24 Die kommen über dich von Norden, ⟨mit⟩ Wagen und Rädern und Scharen von Völkern; Langschild und Kleinschild und Helm richten sie ringsum gegen dich. Und ich übergebe ihnen das Gericht, und sie werden dich nach ihren Rechtssätzen richten. (Jer 52,9) 

25 Und ich bringe meinen Eifer über dich, und sie werden im Grimm mit dir verfahren: Deine Nase und deine Ohren werden sie abschneiden, und was nach dir ⟨übrig bleibt⟩, wird durch das Schwert fallen; deine Söhne und deine Töchter werden sie wegnehmen, und was nach dir ⟨übrig bleibt⟩, wird durch das Feuer verzehrt werden. (Hes 5,13) 

26 Und sie werden dir deine Kleider ausziehen und deine prächtigen Geschmeide nehmen. (2Kön 24,13; Jes 39,6) 

27 Und ich will ein Ende machen deiner Schandtat von dir und deiner Hurerei vom Land Ägypten her, sodass du deine Augen nicht mehr zu ihnen erheben und nicht mehr denken wirst an Ägypten. (Hes 22,15) 

28 Denn so spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich gebe dich in die Hand derer, die du hasst, in die Hand derer, von denen deine Seele sich jäh abgewandt hat. 

29 Und sie werden voller Hass mit dir verfahren und all dein Erworbenes wegnehmen und dich nackt und bloß zurücklassen. Da sollen deine hurerische Blöße und deine Schandtat und deine Hurereien aufgedeckt werden. (Kla 1,8) 

30 Das wird dir geschehen, weil du den Nationen nachgehurt, weil du dich mit ihren Götzen unrein gemacht hast. (Jer 2,18) 

31 Auf dem Weg deiner Schwester bist du gegangen, so gebe ich ihren Becher in deine Hand. (2Kön 17,19; 2Kön 21,13) 

32 So spricht der Herr, HERR: Du wirst den Becher deiner Schwester trinken, den tiefen und weiten – zum Gelächter und zum Spott wird sie –, der so viel fasst. (Kla 2,15; Hes 22,4) 

33 Von Trunkenheit und Kummer wirst du voll werden; ein Becher des Entsetzens und der Verödung ist der Becher deiner Schwester Samaria. 

34 Und du wirst ihn trinken und ausschlürfen und wirst seine Tonscherben benagen und deine Brüste zerreißen; denn ich habe geredet, spricht der Herr, HERR. – (Ps 75,9; Hes 22,14) 

35 Darum, so spricht der Herr, HERR: Weil du mich vergessen und mich hinter deinen Rücken geworfen hast, so trage du auch deine Schandtat und deine Hurereien! (4Mo 14,33; Jer 2,7; Jer 13,25; Hes 22,12; Hos 13,6) 

36 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Menschensohn, willst du die Ohola und die Oholiba richten? Dann halte ihnen ihre Gräuel vor! (Hes 20,4; Mi 3,8) 

37 Denn sie haben Ehebruch getrieben, und Blut ist an ihren Händen, und mit ihren Götzen haben sie Ehebruch getrieben; und sogar ihre Kinder, die sie mir geboren hatten, haben sie ihnen zum Fraß durch ⟨das Feuer⟩ gehen lassen. (3Mo 20,2; 2Kön 23,10; Hes 20,26) 

38 Und dies haben sie mir noch ⟨dazu⟩ angetan: Sie haben am selben Tag mein Heiligtum unrein gemacht und meine Sabbate entweiht. (Hes 22,8) 

39 Denn wenn sie ihre Söhne für ihre Götzen schlachteten, dann kamen sie am selben Tag in mein Heiligtum, es zu entweihen; und siehe, so haben sie es mitten in meinem Haus getrieben. (2Kön 21,4; Hes 5,11) 

40 Ja, sie haben sogar ⟨Boten⟩ zu Männern gesandt, die von fern her kommen sollten – zu denen ein Bote gesandt worden war; und siehe, sie kamen! –, für die du dich gebadet, deine Augen geschminkt und ⟨dir⟩ Schmuck angelegt hast (2Kön 9,30) 

41 und dich auf ein prunkvolles Polster gesetzt hast, vor dem ein Tisch bereitet war; und darauf hast du mein Räucherwerk und mein Öl gestellt. (Jes 57,7; Hes 6,13) 

42 Und mit lärmender Stimme sang man den Männern zu wegen der Menge der Menschen, die aus der Wüste gekommen waren; und sie legten Armringe an ihre Hände und ⟨setzten⟩ prachtvolle Kronen auf ihre Köpfe. (Hes 27,22) 

43 Da sprach ich: ⟨Noch immer⟩ Ehebruch für die Verbrauchte? Jetzt treibt man ihre Hurereien, und sie ⟨freut sich darüber⟩. 

44 Und man ging zu ihr ein, wie man zu einer Hure eingeht; so gingen sie ein zu Ohola und zu Oholiba, den unzüchtigen Frauen. (Jer 3,8) 

45 Aber gerechte Männer, die werden sie richten nach dem Recht für Ehebrecherinnen und nach dem Recht für solche, die Blut vergießen; denn sie sind Ehebrecherinnen, und Blut ist an ihren Händen. – (Jer 2,34; Kla 4,14; Hes 24,7) 

46 Denn so spricht der Herr, HERR: Man führe eine Versammlung gegen sie herauf und gebe sie der Misshandlung und der Plünderung preis! (Jer 17,3) 

47 Und die Versammlung soll sie steinigen und sie mit ihren Schwertern zerhauen; ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter soll man erschlagen und ihre Häuser mit Feuer vernichten! (Jer 32,29; Hes 24,21) 

48 Und so werde ich die Schandtat aus dem Land wegschaffen, damit alle Frauen sich warnen lassen und nicht nach eurer Schandtat handeln. (5Mo 13,12) 

49 Und sie werden eure Schandtat auf euch bringen, und die Sünden⟨, die ihr mit⟩ euren Götzen ⟨begangen habt,⟩ werdet ihr tragen. Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der Herr, HERR, bin.

1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, 

2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: 

3 And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity. 

4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah. 

5 And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours, 

6 Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses. 

7 Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself. 

8 Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her. 

9 Wherefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted. 

10 These discovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became famous among women; for they had executed judgment upon her. 

11 And when her sister Aholibah saw this , she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she, and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms. 

12 She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men. 

13 Then I saw that she was defiled, that they took both one way, 

14 And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with vermilion, 

15 Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity: 

16 And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea. 

17 And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them. 

18 So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like as my mind was alienated from her sister. 

19 Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. 

20 For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. 

21 Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth. 

22 Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side; 

23 The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses. 

24 And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments. 

25 And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire. 

26 They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels. 

27 Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more. 

28 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated: 

29 And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. 

30 I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols. 

31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand. 

32 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister' cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. 

33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria. 

34 Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it , saith the Lord GOD. 

35 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. 

36 The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations; 

37 That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire , to devour them . 

38 Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. 

39 For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house. 

40 And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments, 

41 And satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil. 

42 And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads. 

43 Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them ? 

44 Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women. 

45 And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. 

46 For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled. 

47 And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. 

48 Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness. 

49 And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

Amours coupables

1 L’Eternel m’adressa la parole en ces termes: 

2 Fils d’homme, il y avait deux femmes nées d’une même mère. (Jer 3,6; Hes 16,3; Hes 16,44) 

3 Elles se sont prostituées en Egypte. Oui, là, dès leur jeunesse, elles se sont prostituées; on leur a caressé les seins, et l’on a saisi leurs seins de jeunes filles. 

4 L’aînée c’est: Ohola, et sa sœur, c’est Oholiba. Puis elles m’appartinrent et elles m’ont donné des fils et des filles. Or, le nom d’Ohola, c’est Samarie, celui d’Oholiba, Jérusalem. 

5 Ohola était mienne, mais elle s’est prostituée. Ce fut avec passion qu’elle aima ses amants les Assyriens, guerriers 

6 vêtus d’habits de pourpre, gouverneurs et seigneurs, tous jeunes hommes séduisants, cavaliers à cheval. 

7 Elle prodigua ses faveurs à l’élite des Assyriens, elle brûlait pour eux d’un désir passionnel, et elle s’est rendue impure en servant leurs idoles. 

8 Elle n’a pas délaissé ses prostitutions du passé dans le pays d’Egypte: là-bas, les Egyptiens avaient couché avec elle, dans sa jeunesse. Ils avaient saisi ses seins de jeune fille et l’avaient submergée de leurs prostitutions. 

9 Aussi je l’ai livrée à ses amants, les Assyriens pour qui elle brûlait d’un désir passionnel. 

10 Eux, ils la mirent à nu. Ils se sont emparés de ses fils et de ses filles, puis ils l’ont tuée par l’épée et elle est devenue pour les femmes un exemple parce qu’on a exécuté la sentence sur elle. (2Kön 17,6; Hos 2,5) 

11 Sa sœur Oholiba a bien vu tout cela, mais dans ses désirs passionnels, elle s’est corrompue plus qu’elle, et ses prostitutions ont été encore pires que celles de sa sœur. 

12 Elle a brûlé d’un désir passionnel pour les Assyriens, gouverneurs et seigneurs, guerriers élégamment vêtus, cavaliers à cheval, tous jeunes hommes séduisants. 

13 Et j’ai vu qu’elle aussi se rendait impure: toutes deux avaient suivi un chemin identique. 

14 Mais Oholiba alla plus loin encore dans la prostitution: elle vit sur le mur des hommes dessinés, des représentations de Chaldéens dessinés, peints en rouge, 

15 portant, serrés aux reins, des ceinturons, et la tête couverte de turbans luxueux. Tous avaient l’apparence de nobles capitaines; tels étaient les portraits des fils de Babylone qui sont nés en Chaldée. 

16 En les voyant, elle s’est enflammée pour eux d’un désir passionnel, et elle a dépêché des messagers vers eux en Chaldée. (2Kön 20,12; 2Kön 24,1; Jes 39,1) 

17 Et les Babyloniens se sont rendus chez elle pour partager son lit et pour la rendre impure par leurs prostitutions. Après s’être rendue impure avec eux, elle les a pris en dégoût. 

18 Elle a manifesté au grand jour ses prostitutions et a exposé sa nudité; alors je l’ai prise en dégoût comme j’avais déjà pris sa sœur en dégoût. 

19 Elle a multiplié le nombre de ses prostitutions pour rappeler le souvenir de sa jeunesse où elle se prostituait en Egypte. 

20 Elle s’est enflammée d’un désir passionnel pour leurs hommes débauchés ayant des membres d’âne et qui ont l’ardeur d’étalons. 

21 Tu as voulu revivre les débauches de ta jeunesse, lorsque les Egyptiens te saisissaient les seins et caressaient tes seins de jeune fille. 

Le châtiment de la jeune sœur

22 C’est pourquoi, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, te déclare: Ecoute, Oholiba, je vais dresser tes amants contre toi, ceux que tu as pris en dégoût, je les ferai venir de partout contre toi: 

23 les Babyloniens et tous les Chaldéens, gens de Peqod, de Shoa, de Qoa, et tous les Assyriens, séduisants jeunes hommes, gouverneurs et seigneurs, tous nobles capitaines, hauts dignitaires, tous montés à cheval. 

24 Des peuples assemblés contre toi s’avancent avec leurs armes, leurs chars de guerre et tous leurs attelages, munis de petits et de grands boucliers et de casques. Ils prendront position tout autour de toi. Je leur remettrai le pouvoir de te juger, et ils te jugeront selon leurs propres lois. 

25 Je répandrai sur toi le poids de ma vive indignation. Ils exerceront leur fureur contre toi, et ils te couperont le nez et les oreilles. Ce qui restera tombera par l’épée; ils prendront tes fils et tes filles, et ceux qui subsisteront seront livrés au feu. 

26 Ils te dépouilleront de tous tes vêtements et ils t’arracheront les bijoux dont tu te pares. 

27 Ainsi je mettrai fin à tes prostitutions et à tes mœurs infâmes qui ont commencé en Egypte, et tu ne lèveras plus les yeux vers ces gens, tu ne te souviendras plus jamais de l’Egypte. 

28 Car voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Je vais t’abandonner à ceux que tu détestes, ceux que tu as pris en dégoût. 

29 Ils agiront contre toi avec haine et ils emporteront le fruit de ton travail. Ils t’abandonneront toute nue, dépouillée, en exposant ainsi la honte de ton immoralité, ton impudicité et tes prostitutions. 

30 Ce qui te vaut cela, c’est de t’être prostituée à ces peuples païens et de t’être rendue impure avec leurs idoles. 

31 Tu as marché sur les traces de ta sœur, c’est pourquoi je te mettrai dans la main la coupe qu’elle a bue. (Jes 51,17; Jes 51,22; Jer 25,15) 

32 Voici ce que déclare ╵le Seigneur, l’Eternel: La coupe que ta sœur a bue, ╵tu la boiras aussi, coupe large et profonde, qui donnera à rire, ╵à se moquer, tant elle est pleine. 

33 Tu seras rassasiée ╵d’ivresse et d’affliction. C’est une coupe ╵de dévastation et d’effroi, la coupe de ta sœur, ╵de Samarie. 

34 Tu boiras cette coupe ╵et tu la videras, tu la briseras en morceaux et, avec ses tessons, ╵tu te lacéreras les seins, car, c’est moi qui le dis. C’est là ce que déclare ╵le Seigneur, l’Eternel. 

35 C’est pourquoi, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, te déclare: Puisque tu m’as mis en oubli, que tu m’as rejeté en me tournant le dos, tu paieras toi aussi, pour tes débauches et ta prostitution. 

Un sérieux avertissement

36 Puis l’Eternel me dit: Fils d’homme, prononce un jugement contre Ohola et contre Oholiba et dénonce leurs abominations! 

37 Car elles ont été toutes deux adultères et les mains de chacune sont couvertes de sang. C’est avec leurs idoles qu’elles ont commis adultère et elles leur ont sacrifié les fils qu’elles m’avaient enfantés pour que celles-ci les dévorent. 

38 Et elles m’ont fait plus encore en ce jour-là: toutes deux ont rendu impur mon sanctuaire et ont profané mes jours de sabbat. 

39 Quand elles immolaient leurs fils à leurs idoles, elles sont entrées ce jour même dans mon sanctuaire pour le profaner, oui voilà ce qu’elles ont fait au milieu de mon temple. 

40 Elles ont envoyé chercher au loin des hommes. Sitôt qu’ils ont reçu les messagers qui leur ont été envoyés, ils sont venus. Pour eux, tu t’es baignée, tu t’es fardé les yeux, tu as mis tes bijoux 

41 et tu t’es assise là sur un lit d’apparat devant lequel on a disposé une table et tu y as posé mon encens et mon huile. 

42 On entendait la voix d’une multitude insouciante. Parmi les hommes de la populace, on a fait venir du désert des ivrognes qui ont passé des bracelets aux mains de ces deux sœurs et ils ont posé des couronnes splendides sur leurs têtes. 

43 Alors je me suis interrogé sur cette femme flétrie par l’adultère: Va-t-elle se livrer encore à ses prostitutions? 

44 On est venu vers elle tout comme on va trouver une prostituée. Oui, c’est ainsi qu’ils sont venus vers Ohola et vers Oholiba, ces femmes débauchées. 

45 Mais des hommes justes les jugeront selon le droit qui s’applique aux femmes adultères et aux femmes qui répandent le sang, car elles sont bien adultères et ont du sang sur les mains. 

46 Car voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Que l’on fasse venir contre elles une grande coalition et je les livrerai à la terreur et au pillage! 

47 Cette coalition les lapidera et les taillera en pièces à coups d’épée. Ces gens tueront leurs fils et leurs filles et brûleront leurs maisons. 

48 Ainsi je mettrai fin aux débauches dans le pays; toutes les autres femmes apprendront par cela à ne pas imiter votre impudicité. 

49 Ils feront retomber sur vous votre débauche, vous paierez ainsi pour vos péchés d’idolâtrie; et vous reconnaîtrez que je suis le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
