(Ri 5,30; Ps 4,8; Lk 2,10)3Denn das Joch ihrer[4] Last, den Stab ⟨auf⟩ ihrer[5] Schulter, den Stock ihres[6] Treibers zerbrichst[7] du wie am Tag Midians. (3Mo 26,13; Ri 7,22; Ri 8,12; Jes 10,26; Jes 14,5)4Denn jeder Stiefel, der dröhnend einherstampft, und ⟨jeder⟩ Mantel, in Blut gewälzt, verfällt dem Brand, ⟨wird⟩ ein Fraß des Feuers. (Jes 10,16)5Denn ein Kind ist uns geboren, ein Sohn uns gegeben, und die Herrschaft ruht auf seiner Schulter; und man nennt seinen Namen:[8] Wunderbarer Ratgeber, starker Gott[9], Vater der Ewigkeit, Fürst[10] des Friedens. Drohendes Gericht über Israel
7Ein Wort sendet der Herr gegen Jakob, und in Israel fällt es nieder.8Und das ganze Volk erkennt es, Ephraim und die Bewohner von Samaria, die in Hochmut und mit überheblichen Herzen sagen: (Jer 43,2)9Die Ziegelsteine sind gefallen, aber mit Quadern bauen wir auf. Die Sykomoren sind abgehauen, aber wir setzen Zedern an ihre Stelle[12]. (Jes 28,1)10Doch der HERR wird die Gegner, ⟨nämlich⟩ Rezin, über es erhöhen und seine Feinde aufstacheln: (2Kön 16,9)11Aram von Osten und die Philister von Westen; die werden Israel fressen mit vollem Maul. – Bei alldem wendet sich sein Zorn nicht ab, und noch ist seine Hand ausgestreckt. (Jes 5,25; Jes 10,4; Jes 28,1)12Aber das Volk kehrt nicht um zu dem, der es schlägt, und den HERRN der Heerscharen suchen sie nicht. (Jes 31,1; Jer 15,7; Hos 7,10; Am 4,6; Zef 1,6)13Da haut der HERR von Israel Kopf und Schwanz ab, Palmzweig und Binse an einem Tag. (Jes 7,20; Jes 19,15)14Der Älteste und Angesehene, er ist der Kopf; und der Prophet, der Lüge lehrt, er ist der Schwanz.15Denn die Führer dieses Volkes werden zu Verführern und die von ihnen Geführten zu Verwirrten. (Jes 3,12; Kla 2,14)16Darum wird sich der Herr über dessen junge Männer nicht freuen[13], und über seine Waisen und Witwen wird er sich nicht erbarmen. Denn sie alle sind Gottlose und Übeltäter, und jeder Mund redet Torheit. – Bei alldem wendet sich sein Zorn nicht ab, und noch ist seine Hand ausgestreckt. (Jes 5,25; Jes 10,4; Jer 9,4; Jer 18,21)17Denn die Gottlosigkeit brennt wie Feuer: Dornen und Disteln verzehrt sie und zündet in den Dickichten des Waldes, dass sie emporwirbeln als hoch aufsteigender Rauch. (Jes 5,24; Jes 33,11)18Durch den Grimm des HERRN der Heerscharen ist das Land verbrannt, und das Volk ist wie ein Fraß des Feuers geworden; keiner hat Mitleid mit dem andern. (1Kön 16,21; Jes 3,5; Jer 9,3)19Und man verschlingt zur Rechten und hungert, und man frisst zur Linken und wird nicht satt. Jeder frisst das Fleisch seines Nächsten[14]: (3Mo 26,26; Sach 11,9)20Manasse den Ephraim und Ephraim den Manasse; diese miteinander zusammen ⟨aber fallen⟩ über Juda her. – Bei alldem wendet sich sein Zorn nicht ab, und noch ist seine Hand ausgestreckt. Judgment on Arrogance and Oppression
8The Lord has sent a word against Jacob, and it will fall on Israel;9and all the people will know, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart: (Jes 7,2; Jes 7,5; Jes 7,8; Jes 7,17)10“The bricks have fallen, but we will build with dressed stones; the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”11But the Lord raises the adversaries of Rezin against him, and stirs up his enemies.12The Syrians on the east and the Philistines on the west devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still. (Jes 1,5; Hos 7,10)14So the Lord cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed in one day— (5Mo 28,13; Jes 19,15)15the elder and honored man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail; (Jes 3,2; Jes 28,7; Mi 3,5)16for those who guide this people have been leading them astray, and those who are guided by them are swallowed up.17Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over their young men, and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is godless and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly.[6] For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still. (Ps 83,14; Jak 3,5)19Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts the land is scorched, and the people are like fuel for the fire; no one spares another. (Jes 24,6; Mi 7,2)20They slice meat on the right, but are still hungry, and they devour on the left, but are not satisfied; each devours the flesh of his own arm, (5Mo 28,53; Jes 8,21; Jes 49,26)21Manasseh devours Ephraim, and Ephraim devours Manasseh; together they are against Judah.
