Erstes Lied: Der Knecht Gottes bringt Recht und Licht
1Siehe, mein Knecht, den ich halte, mein Auserwählter, an dem meine Seele Wohlgefallen hat: Ich habe meinen Geist auf ihn gelegt, er wird das Recht zu den Nationen hinausbringen. (Ps 72,4; Ps 89,4; Jes 2,4; Jes 11,2; Jes 49,3; Jes 50,10; Jes 52,13; Jes 61,1; Jes 63,1; Sach 3,8; Mt 3,16; Lk 23,35; Apg 3,13; Phil 2,7)2Er wird nicht schreien und ⟨die Stimme⟩ nicht erheben und seine Stimme nicht hören lassen auf der Straße. (Mk 7,24)3Das geknickte Rohr wird er nicht zerbrechen, und den glimmenden[1] Docht wird er nicht auslöschen. In Treue[2] bringt er das Recht hinaus. (Ps 72,4; Jes 2,4; Jes 63,1)4Er wird nicht verzagen[3] noch zusammenbrechen[4], bis er das Recht auf Erden aufgerichtet hat. Und die Inseln warten auf seine Weisung. – (1Mo 49,10; Jes 11,10; Jes 60,9; Dan 9,24; Mt 12,17)5So spricht Gott, der HERR, der den Himmel schuf[5] und ihn ausspannte, der die Erde ausbreitete und was ihr entsprosst, der dem Volk auf ihr den Atem gab[6] und den ⟨Lebens⟩hauch denen, die auf ihr gehen: (Ps 96,5; Jes 40,22; Jes 45,12; Jes 57,16; Jer 38,16; Hes 18,4; Apg 17,25)6Ich, der HERR, ich habe dich in Gerechtigkeit gerufen und ergreife dich bei der Hand. Und ich behüte dich und mache dich[7] zum Bund des Volkes[8], zum Licht der Nationen, (Jes 49,6; Jes 49,8; Jes 51,4; Lk 2,32; Apg 26,18)7blinde Augen aufzutun, um Gefangene aus dem Kerker herauszuführen ⟨und⟩ aus dem Gefängnis, die in der Finsternis sitzen. – (Jes 29,18; Jes 49,9; Jes 61,1; Mk 10,52; Lk 1,79; Kol 1,13)8Ich bin Jahwe, das ist mein Name. Gott kommt zur Rettung um seiner Gerechtigkeit willen
10Singt dem HERRN ein neues Lied, seinen Ruhm vom Ende der Erde: Es brause das Meer[9] und seine Fülle, die Inseln und ihre Bewohner! (Ps 33,3; Ps 97,1; Jes 24,15; Offb 5,9)11⟨Die Stimme⟩ sollen erheben die Steppe und ihre Städte, die Dörfer, die Kedar[10] bewohnt! Jubeln sollen die Bewohner von Sela[11], jauchzen vom Gipfel der Berge her! (Jes 60,7; Hes 27,21)12Dem HERRN sollen sie Ehre geben und seinen Ruhm auf den Inseln verkündigen! (Ps 97,1; Jes 24,15; Offb 14,7)13Der HERR zieht aus wie ein Held, wie ein Kriegsmann weckt er den Eifer. Er erhebt einen Schlachtruf, ja, ein gellendes Feldgeschrei, er beweist sich als Held gegen seine Feinde. (Ps 78,65; Jes 31,4; Jes 59,17; Jer 25,30)14Seit ewigen ⟨Zeiten⟩ habe ich geschwiegen, war still, habe an mich gehalten. Wie eine Gebärende werde ich ⟨nun⟩ stöhnen, schnauben und ⟨nach Luft⟩ schnappen zugleich. (Ps 50,21)15Ich werde Berge und Hügel ausdörren und all ihr Kraut vertrocknen lassen. Und ich werde Ströme zu Inseln machen und Teiche trockenlegen. (Ps 107,33; Jes 50,2)16Und ich werde die Blinden auf einem Weg gehen lassen, den sie nicht kennen, auf Pfaden, die sie nicht kennen, werde ich sie schreiten lassen. Die Finsternis vor ihnen werde ich zum Licht machen und das Holperige zur Ebene. Das sind die Dinge, die ich tue und von denen ich nicht ablasse. (Jes 40,4; Jer 31,8)17Es weichen zurück, es werden völlig zuschanden ⟨alle⟩, die auf ein Götterbild vertrauen, die zum gegossenen Bild sagen: Ihr seid unsere Götter. (Ps 97,7; Ps 135,18; Jes 44,11)18Hört, ihr Tauben! Und ihr Blinden, schaut her, um zu sehen! (Jes 43,8; Mt 11,5)19Wer ist blind, wenn nicht mein Knecht, und taub, wenn nicht[12] mein Bote, den ich sende? Wer ist blind wie Meschullam[13] und blind wie der Knecht des HERRN?20Er hat[14] vieles gesehen, aber es nicht beachtet[15], hat offene Ohren, aber hört nicht. (Jes 6,9; Jes 48,8; Hes 33,32)21Dem HERRN hat es gefallen um seiner Gerechtigkeit willen. Er macht das Gesetz groß und herrlich[16]. (5Mo 4,6; Mt 5,17)22Doch ist es ⟨jetzt noch⟩ ein beraubtes und ausgeplündertes Volk. Sie sind allesamt in Löchern gefesselt, und in Kerkern werden sie versteckt gehalten. Sie sind zur Beute geworden, und da ist kein Erretter, ⟨zur⟩ Plünderung, und niemand sagt: Gib wieder her! (5Mo 28,33; Jes 5,29; Jes 24,3; Jer 51,34)23Wer unter euch will das zu Ohren nehmen, will achtgeben und für die Zukunft hören? (5Mo 32,29)24Wer hat Jakob der Plünderung preisgegeben und Israel den Räubern? Nicht der HERR, gegen den wir gesündigt haben? Und sie wollten nicht auf seinen Wegen gehen und hörten nicht auf sein Gesetz. (Ri 2,14; Ps 81,12; Jer 44,10; Lk 13,34)25Da hat er die Glut seines Zornes[17] und die Gewalt des Krieges über es ausgegossen. Und er hat es ringsum versengt, aber es kommt nicht zur Erkenntnis, und er hat es in Brand gesteckt, aber es nimmt es nicht zu Herzen. (Jer 5,3; Jer 12,11)

(Ps 9,8; Jes 57,15)4He will not grow faint or be discouraged[1] till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law. (1Mo 10,5; Jes 2,3; Jes 60,9; Mt 12,21)5Thus says God, the Lord, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it: (Jes 44,24; Jes 45,12; Apg 17,25)6“I am the Lord; I have called you[2] in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, (Jes 41,9; Jes 49,6; Jes 49,8; Lk 2,32)7to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. (Jes 35,5; Jes 49,9; Jes 61,1; Lk 1,79; Hebr 2,14)8I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols. (Jes 48,11)9Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” (Jes 43,19)
Sing to the Lord a New Song
10Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants. (Ps 33,3; Ps 107,23; Jes 42,4)11Let the desert and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits; let the habitants of Sela sing for joy, let them shout from the top of the mountains. (Jes 16,1; Jes 21,16)12Let them give glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the coastlands. (Jes 42,4)13The Lord goes out like a mighty man, like a man of war he stirs up his zeal; he cries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes. (Ps 78,65; Jes 9,7; Jes 40,10; Jes 59,17)14For a long time I have held my peace; I have kept still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labor; I will gasp and pant. (Jes 13,8)15I will lay waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their vegetation; I will turn the rivers into islands,[3] and dry up the pools. (Jes 50,2)16And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them. (Jes 35,5; Jes 35,8; Jes 40,4)17They are turned back and utterly put to shame, who trust in carved idols, who say to metal images, “You are our gods.” (Ps 97,7; Jes 1,29; Jes 44,11; Jes 45,16)
Israel’s Failure to Hear and See
18Hear, you deaf, and look, you blind, that you may see!19Who is blind but my servant, or deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is blind as my dedicated one,[4] or blind as the servant of the Lord?20He sees many things, but does not observe them; his ears are open, but he does not hear. (Jer 6,10; Röm 2,21)21The Lord was pleased, for his righteousness’ sake, to magnify his law and make it glorious.22But this is a people plundered and looted; they are all of them trapped in holes and hidden in prisons; they have become plunder with none to rescue, spoil with none to say, “Restore!” (Jes 14,17)23Who among you will give ear to this, will attend and listen for the time to come?24Who gave up Jacob to the looter, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the Lord, against whom we have sinned, in whose ways they would not walk, and whose law they would not obey?25So he poured on him the heat of his anger and the might of battle; it set him on fire all around, but he did not understand; it burned him up, but he did not take it to heart.
