1In diesen Tagen aber, als die Jünger sich mehrten, entstand ein Murren der Hellenisten[1] gegen die Hebräer, weil ihre Witwen bei der täglichen Bedienung übersehen wurden.2Die Zwölf aber riefen die Menge der Jünger herbei und sprachen: Es ist nicht gut, dass wir das Wort Gottes vernachlässigen und die Tische bedienen.3So seht euch nun um, Brüder, nach sieben Männern unter euch, von ⟨gutem⟩ Zeugnis, voll Geist und Weisheit, die wir über diese Aufgabe setzen wollen! Anklage gegen Stephanus
8Stephanus aber, voller Gnade und Kraft, tat Wunder und große Zeichen unter dem Volk. (Apg 2,43; Apg 4,33; 1Kor 2,4)9Es standen aber einige aus der sogenannten Synagoge der Libertiner[3] und der Kyrenäer und der Alexandriner auf und derer von Zilizien und Asien[4] und stritten mit Stephanus.10Und sie konnten der Weisheit und dem Geist nicht widerstehen, womit er redete. (Lk 21,15)11Da schoben sie heimlich Männer vor, die sagten: Wir haben ihn Lästerworte reden hören gegen Mose und Gott. (1Kön 21,10; Mt 26,59)12Und sie erregten das Volk und die Ältesten und die Schriftgelehrten; und sie fielen über ihn her und rissen ihn mit sich fort und führten ihn vor den Hohen Rat[5]. (Mt 10,17)13Und sie stellten falsche Zeugen auf, die sagten: Dieser Mensch hört nicht auf, Worte zu reden gegen die heilige Stätte und das Gesetz; (Jer 26,11; Mk 14,57; Apg 7,58; Apg 21,28)14denn wir haben ihn sagen hören: Dieser Jesus, der Nazoräer[6], wird diese Stätte zerstören und die Gebräuche verändern, die uns Mose überliefert hat. Stephen Is Seized
8And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. (Apg 1,8)9Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen.10But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking. (Lk 21,14)11Then they secretly instigated men who said, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” (1Kön 21,10; 1Kön 21,13; Mt 26,59)12And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes, and they came upon him and seized him and brought him before the council,13and they set up false witnesses who said, “This man never ceases to speak words against this holy place and the law, (Mt 24,15; Apg 6,11; Apg 7,58; Apg 21,28; Apg 25,8)14for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us.” (Dan 9,26; Mt 5,17; Mt 26,61; Apg 15,1; Apg 21,21)15And gazing at him, all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
