Psalm 2

Elberfelder Bibel

(Ps 31,20; Ps 34,9; Ps 84,13; Spr 16,20; Jes 30,18; Offb 6,16)

Psalm 2

English Standard Version

von Crossway
1 Why do the nations rage[1] and the peoples plot in vain? (Ps 46,6; Apg 4,25)2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, (Ps 18,50; Ps 20,6; Ps 45,7; Ps 89,20)3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” (Jer 5,5)4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. (Hi 22,19; Ps 11,4; Ps 29,10; Ps 37,13; Ps 59,8; Spr 1,26; Jes 40,22)5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, (Offb 6,16)6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” (2Sam 5,7; Ps 3,4; Ps 15,1; Ps 43,3; Ps 99,9; Ps 110,2; Spr 8,23)7 I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. (Apg 13,33; Röm 1,4; Hebr 1,5; Hebr 5,5)8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. (Ps 72,8; Ps 89,27; Dan 7,14)9 You shall break[2] them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” (Hi 34,24; Ps 89,23; Jes 30,14; Jer 19,11; Offb 2,27; Offb 12,5; Offb 19,15)10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. (Phil 2,12; Phil 4,4; Hebr 12,28)12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. (1Sam 10,1; 1Kön 19,18; Ps 2,5; Ps 34,8; Ps 84,12; Ps 146,5; Spr 16,20; Spr 31,2; Jes 30,18; Jer 17,7; Joh 5,23)

Psalm 2

New International Version

von Biblica
1 Why do the nations conspire[1] and the peoples plot in vain?2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,3 ‘Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.’4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,6 ‘I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.’7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, ‘You are my son; today I have become your father.8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.9 You will break them with a rod of iron[2]; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.’10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.11 Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Psalm 2

New International Reader’s Version

von Biblica
1 Why do the nations plan evil together? Why do they make useless plans?2 The kings of the earth rise up against the LORD. The rulers of the earth join together against his anointed king.3 ‘Let us break free from their chains,’ they say. ‘Let us throw off their ropes.’4 The God who sits on his throne in heaven laughs. The Lord makes fun of those rulers and their plans.5 When he is angry, he warns them. When his anger blazes out, he terrifies them.6 He says to them, ‘I have placed my king on my holy mountain of Zion.’7 I will announce what the LORD has promised. He said to me, ‘You are my son. Today I have become your father.8 Ask me, and I will give the nations to you. All nations on earth will belong to you.9 You will break them with an iron sceptre. You will smash them to pieces like clay pots.’10 Kings, be wise! Rulers of the earth, be warned!11 Serve the LORD and have respect for him. Celebrate his rule with trembling.12 Obey the son completely, or he will be angry. Your way of life will lead to your death. His anger can blaze out at any moment. Blessed are all those who go to him for safety.

Psalm 2

King James Version

1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying ,3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter' vessel.10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
