1Alle, die Sklaven unter dem Joch sind, sollen ihre eigenen Herren[1] aller Ehre für würdig halten, damit nicht der Name Gottes und die Lehre verlästert wird. Nicht Streitsucht oder Geldliebe, sondern Glaubenskampf!
3Wenn jemand anders lehrt und sich nicht zuwendet[4] den gesunden Worten unseres Herrn Jesus Christus und der Lehre, die gemäß der Gottesfurcht ist, (Röm 16,17; 1Tim 1,10; 2Tim 1,13; Tit 1,1)4so ist er aufgeblasen und weiß nichts, sondern ist krank an Streitfragen und Wortgezänken. Aus ihnen entstehen: Neid, Streit, Lästerungen, böse Verdächtigungen, (1Kor 4,18; 2Tim 2,23)5ständige Zänkereien von Menschen, die in der Gesinnung[5] verdorben und der Wahrheit beraubt sind und meinen, die Gottesfurcht sei ⟨ein Mittel⟩ zum Gewinn[6]. (2Tim 3,8; Tit 1,11)6Die Gottesfurcht mit Genügsamkeit aber ist ein großer Gewinn; (Phil 4,11; 1Tim 4,8)7denn wir haben nichts in die Welt hereingebracht, sodass wir auch nichts hinausbringen können. (Hi 1,21; Ps 49,18)8Wenn wir aber Nahrung und Kleidung haben, so wollen wir uns daran genügen lassen. (Spr 30,8; Lk 3,14; Hebr 13,5)9Die aber reich werden wollen, fallen in Versuchung und Fallstrick und in viele unvernünftige und schädliche Begierden, welche die Menschen in Verderben und Untergang versenken. 17Den Reichen in dem gegenwärtigen Zeitlauf[12] gebiete, nicht hochmütig zu sein, noch auf die Ungewissheit des Reichtums Hoffnung zu setzen – sondern auf Gott, der uns alles reichlich darreicht zum Genuss –, (Ps 62,11; Ps 146,5; Mk 10,24; Apg 14,17; Jak 1,10)18Gutes zu tun, reich zu sein in guten Werken, freigebig zu sein, mitteilsam, (Ps 112,9; Gal 4,18)19indem sie sich selbst eine gute Grundlage auf die Zukunft sammeln, um das wirkliche Leben zu ergreifen. (Spr 19,17; Mt 6,20; Lk 12,33; Lk 16,9)
Persönliche Warnung vor Irrlehren – Gruß
20Timotheus, bewahre das anvertraute Gut, indem du die unheiligen leeren Reden und Einwände der fälschlich so genannten Erkenntnis[13] meidest, (Kol 2,8; 1Tim 4,7; 2Tim 1,14)21zu der sich einige bekennen und von dem Glauben abgeirrt sind[14]! – Die Gnade sei mit euch[15]! False Teachers and True Contentment
2Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these things. (1Tim 4,11; 1Tim 4,13; 1Tim 5,7; Phlm 1,16)3If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound[2] words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, (1Tim 1,3; 1Tim 1,10; Tit 1,1)4he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, (Apg 18,15; 1Kor 1,7; 1Kor 8,2; 1Tim 1,4; 1Tim 3,6; 2Tim 2,14; 2Tim 2,23; 2Tim 3,4; Tit 3,9)5and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. I falsi dottori; l’amore del denaro
3Se qualcuno insegna una dottrina diversa e non si attiene alle sane parole del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo e alla dottrina che è conforme alla pietà,4è un orgoglioso e non sa nulla; ma si fissa su questioni e dispute di parole, dalle quali nascono invidia, contese, maldicenza, cattivi sospetti,5acerbe discussioni di persone corrotte di mente e prive della verità, le quali considerano la pietà come una fonte di guadagno.6La pietà, con animo contento del proprio stato, è un grande guadagno.7Infatti non abbiamo portato nulla nel mondo, e neppure possiamo portarne via nulla;8ma avendo di che nutrirci e di che coprirci, saremo di questo contenti.9Invece quelli che vogliono arricchire cadono vittime di tentazioni, di inganni e di molti desideri insensati e funesti, che affondano gli uomini nella rovina e nella perdizione.10Infatti l’amore del denaro è radice di ogni specie di mali, e alcuni che vi si sono dati si sono sviati dalla fede e si sono procurati molti dolori.
