1 雅各举目观看，见以扫来了，後头跟着四百人，他就把孩子们分开交给利亚、拉结，和两个使女， 2 并且叫两个使女和他们的孩子在前头，利亚和他的孩子在後头，拉结和约瑟在尽後头。 3 他自己在他们前头过去，一连七次俯伏在地才就近他哥哥。 4 以扫跑来迎接他，将他抱住，又搂着他的颈项，与他亲嘴，两个人就哭了。 5 以扫举目看见妇人孩子，就说：这些？和你同行的是谁呢？雅各说：这些孩子是　神施恩给你的仆人的。 6 於是两个使女和他们的孩子前来下拜； 7 利亚和他的孩子也前来下拜；随後约瑟和拉结也前来下拜。 8 以扫说：我所遇见的这些群畜是甚麽意思呢？雅各说：是要在我主面前蒙恩的。 9 以扫说：兄弟阿，我的已经够了，你的仍归你罢！ 10 雅各说：不然，我若在你眼前蒙恩，就求你从我手里收下这礼物；因为我见了你的面，如同见了　神的面，并且你容纳了我。 11 求你收下我带来给你的礼物；因为　神恩待我，使我充足。雅各再三地求他，他才收下了。 12 以扫说：我们可以起身前往，我在你前头走。 13 雅各对他说：我主知道孩子们年幼娇嫩，牛羊也正在乳养的时候，若是催赶一天，群畜都必死了。 14 求我主在仆人前头走，我要量着在我面前群畜和孩子的力量慢慢地前行，直走到西珥我主那里。 15 以扫说：容我把跟随我的人留几个在你这里。雅各说：何必呢？只要在我主眼前蒙恩就是了。 16 於是，以扫当日起行，回往西珥去了。 17 雅各就往疏割去，在那里为自己盖造房屋，又为牲畜搭棚；因此那地方名叫疏割 ( 就是棚的意思 ) 。 18 雅各从巴旦亚兰回来的时候，平平安安地到了迦南地的示剑城，在城东支搭帐棚， 19 就用一百块银子向示剑的父亲、哈抹的子孙买了支帐棚的那块地， 20 在那里筑了一座坛，起名叫伊利伊罗伊以色列 ( 就是神、以色列神的意思 ) 。

Jacob Meets Esau

1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, Esau was coming, and four hundred men with him. So he divided the children among Leah and Rachel and the two female servants. (创32:6) 2 And he put the servants with their children in front, then Leah with her children, and Rachel and Joseph last of all. 3 He himself went on before them, bowing himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. (创18:2; 创42:6; 创43:26) 4 But Esau ran to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. (创32:28; 创45:14) 5 And when Esau lifted up his eyes and saw the women and children, he said, “Who are these with you?” Jacob said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.” (创48:9; 诗127:3; 赛8:18) 6 Then the servants drew near, they and their children, and bowed down. 7 Leah likewise and her children drew near and bowed down. And last Joseph and Rachel drew near, and they bowed down. 8 Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company^[1] that I met?” Jacob answered, “To find favor in the sight of my lord.” (创32:5; 创32:16; 创33:15) 9 But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.” 10 Jacob said, “No, please, if I have found favor in your sight, then accept my present from my hand. 12 Then Esau said, “Let us journey on our way, and I will go ahead of^[2] you.” 13 But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are frail, and that the nursing flocks and herds are a care to me. If they are driven hard for one day, all the flocks will die. 14 Let my lord pass on ahead of his servant, and I will lead on slowly, at the pace of the livestock that are ahead of me and at the pace of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.” (创32:3) 15 So Esau said, “Let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.” But he said, “What need is there? 16 So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. (创32:3) 17 But Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built himself a house and made booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.^[3] (书13:27; 士8:5; 诗60:6) 18 And Jacob came safely^[4] to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, on his way from Paddan-aram, and he camped before the city. 19 And from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, he bought for a hundred pieces of money^[5] the piece of land on which he had pitched his tent. (书24:32; 约4:5; 徒7:16) 20 There he erected an altar and called it El-Elohe-Israel.^[6]
