1 Tu jsem viděl, jak z nebe sestupuje anděl, který má v ruce klíč od propasti a veliký řetěz.2 Zmocnil se draka, toho dávného hada, toho ďábla a satana,3 na tisíc let jej spoutal, uvrhl do propasti, uzamkl ji a zapečetil, aby již nemohl klamat národy, dokud se nedovrší těch tisíc let. Potom musí být ještě na krátký čas propuštěn. 4 Viděl jsem trůny a na nich usedli ti, jimž byl svěřen soud. Spatřil jsem také ty, kdo byli sťati pro svědectví Ježíšovo a pro slovo Boží, protože nepoklekli před dravou šelmou ani jejím obrazem a nepřijali její znamení na čelo ani na ruku. Nyní povstali k životu a ujali se vlády s Kristem na tisíc let. –5 Ostatní mrtví však nepovstanou k životu, dokud se těch tisíc let nedovrší. –6 To je první vzkříšení. Blahoslavený a svatý, kdo má podíl na prvním vzkříšení! Nad těmi druhá smrt nemá moci, nýbrž Bůh a Kristus je učiní svými kněžími a budou s ním kralovat po tisíc let.
— Konečné vítězství a soud
7 Až se dovrší tisíc let, bude satan propuštěn ze svého žaláře8 a vyjde, aby oklamal národy ve všech čtyřech úhlech světa, Góga i Magóga. Shromáždí je k boji a bude jich jako písku v moři.9 Viděl jsem, jak vystoupili po celé šíři země a obklíčili tábor svatých a město, které miluje Bůh. Ale sestoupil oheň z nebe a pohltil je.10 Jejich svůdce ďábel byl uvržen do jezera, kde hoří síra a kde je již dravá šelma i falešný prorok. A budou trýzněni dnem i nocí na věky věků. 11 A viděl jsem veliký bělostný trůn a toho, kdo na něm seděl; před jeho pohledem zmizela země i nebe a už pro ně nebylo místa.12 Viděl jsem mrtvé, mocné i prosté, jak stojí před trůnem, a byly otevřeny knihy. Ještě jedna kniha byla otevřena, kniha života. A mrtví byli souzeni podle svých činů zapsaných v těch knihách. 13 Moře vydalo své mrtvé, i smrt a její říše vydaly své mrtvé, a všichni byli souzeni podle svých činů.14 Pak smrt i její říše byly uvrženy do hořícího jezera. To je druhá smrt: hořící jezero.15 A kdo nebyl zapsán v knize života, byl uvržen do hořícího jezera.
1Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit[1] and a great chain. (Zj 1,18; Zj 9,1)2And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, (2P 2,4; Ju 1,6; Zj 12,9)3and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while. (Da 6,17; Mt 27,66; Zj 20,1; Zj 20,8; Zj 20,10)4Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. This is the first resurrection.6Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years. (Zj 1,6; Zj 2,11; Zj 14,13; Zj 20,4; Zj 20,14; Zj 21,8)
The Defeat of Satan
7And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison (Zj 20,2)8and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. (Ez 38,2; Ez 39,1; Zj 16,14; Zj 20,3; Zj 20,10)9And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven[2] and consumed them, (Ž 132,13; Iz 8,8; Ez 38,9; Ez 38,16; Abk 1,6; Žd 13,11; Žd 13,13; Zj 13,13)10and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (Zj 16,13; Zj 19,20; Zj 20,3; Zj 20,8)
Judgment Before the Great White Throne
11Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. (Ž 102,26; Da 2,35; Zj 12,8)12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. (Da 7,10; Mt 16,27; Ř 14,10; 2K 5,10; Zj 3,5; Zj 11,18)13And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. (Zj 6,8; Zj 20,12)14Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. (L 20,36; 1K 15,26; Zj 20,6; Zj 20,13; Zj 21,4)15And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Mt 13,42; Mt 13,50)
