1 Toho roku, v němž tartán poslaný asyrským králem Sargónem přitáhl k Ašdódu, bojoval proti němu a dobyl jej,2 v onen čas promluvil Hospodin skrze Izajáše, syna Amósova: „Jdi a odpásej si z beder žíněnou suknici a zuj si opánky z nohou.“ On tak učinil a chodil nahý a bosý. 3 I řekl Hospodin: „Jako chodí můj služebník Izajáš nahý a bosý po tři roky na znamení a předzvěst pro Egypt a pro Kúš,4 tak požene asyrský král zajatce egyptské a vysídlence kúšské, mladíky i starce, nahé a bosé, s odhaleným zadkem, Egyptu k hanbě.5 Budou plni děsu a hanby pro Kúš, k němuž vzhlíželi, a pro Egypt, jímž se chlubili.6 Obyvatelé toho pobřeží v onen den řeknou: ‚Hle, tak to dopadlo s tím, k němuž jsme vzhlíželi, k němuž jsme se utíkali o pomoc, aby nás vysvobodil od asyrského krále. Jak bychom mohli vyváznout my?‘“
