od Česká biblická společnost1 Před Bohem a Kristem Ježíšem, který bude soudit živé i mrtvé, tě zapřísahám pro jeho příchod a jeho království:2 Hlásej slovo Boží, ať přijdeš vhod či nevhod, usvědčuj, domlouvej, napomínej v trpělivém vyučování.3 Neboť přijde doba, kdy lidé nesnesou zdravé učení, a podle svých choutek si seženou učitele, kteří by vyhověli jejich přáním.4 Odvrátí sluch od pravdy a přikloní se k bájím.5 Avšak ty buď ve všem střízlivý, snášej útrapy, konej dílo zvěstovatele evangelia a cele se věnuj své službě.6 Neboť já již budu obětován, přišel čas mého odchodu.7 Dobrý boj jsem bojoval, běh jsem dokončil, víru zachoval.8 Nyní je pro mne připraven vavřín spravedlnosti, který mi dá v onen den Pán, ten spravedlivý soudce. A nejen mně, nýbrž všem, kdo s láskou vyhlížejí jeho příchod.

9 Pospěš si, abys přišel za mnou co nejdřív.10 Démas mě totiž opustil, protože více miloval tento svět, a odešel do Tesaloniky. Krescens odešel do Galacie, Titus do Dalmácie.11 Jediný Lukáš je se mnou. Marka vezmi s sebou, bude mi užitečný jako pomocník.12 Tychika jsem poslal do Efezu.13 Plášť, který jsem nechal v Troadě u Karpa, přines s sebou, též knihy a zvláště pergamen.14 Kovář Alexandr mi způsobil mnoho zlého. Odplatí mu Pán podle jeho činů.15 Také ty si dej před ním pozor. Velmi se totiž stavěl proti našim slovům. 16 Při mé první obhajobě nikdo při mně nebyl, všichni mě opustili. Kéž jim to Bůh nepočítá!17 Pán však při mně stál a dal mi sílu, abych mohl dovršit zvěstování evangelia, a slyšeli je všichni pohané; a byl jsem vysvobozen ze lví tlamy.18 Pán mě vysvobodí ze všeho zlého a zachová pro své nebeské království. Jemu patří sláva na věky věků, amen. 19 Pozdravuj Prisku a Akvilu a rodinu Oneziforovu.20 Erastos zůstal v Korintu. Trofima jsem nechal v Milétu, protože byl nemocen.21 Pospěš si, abys přišel, než nastane zima. Pozdravuje tě Eubulos, Pudens, Linus, Klaudia a všichni bratří. 22 Pán buď s tvým duchem. Milost s vámi.
