1 V osmnáctém roce vlády krále Jarobeáma, syna Nebatova, se stal králem nad Judou Abijám.2 Kraloval v Jeruzalémě tři léta. Jeho matka se jmenovala Maaka; bylato dcera Abíšalómova.3 Chodil ve všech hříších svého otce, jichž se před ním dopouštěl, a jeho srdce nebylo cele při Hospodinu, jeho Bohu, jako srdce jeho otce Davida.4 Ale pro Davida mu dal Hospodin, jeho Bůh, v Jeruzalémě planoucí světlo; vzbudil po něm jeho syna a upevnil Jeruzalém.5 To proto, že David činil to, co je správné v Hospodinových očích, a po celý svůj život se neodchýlil od ničeho, co mu on přikázal, kromě té věci s Chetejcem Urijášem.6 Válka mezi Rechabeámem a Jarobeámem trvala po všechna léta Abijámova života.7 O ostatních příbězích Abijámových, o všem, co konal, se píše, jak známo, v Knize letopisů králů judských. Válka mezi Abijámem a Jarobeámem trvala dál.8 I ulehl Abijám ke svým otcům a pohřbili ho v Městě Davidově. Po něm se stal králem jeho syn Ása.

9 Ve dvacátém roce vlády izraelského krále Jarobeáma se stal králem Ása, král judský.10 Kraloval v Jeruzalémě jedenačtyřicet let. Jeho matka se jmenovala Maaka; byla to dcera Abíšalómova.11 Ása činil to, co je správné v Hospodinových očích, jako jeho otec David.12 Vymýtil ze země ty, kdo se oddávali modlářskému smilstvu, a odstranil všechny hnusné modly, které udělali jeho otcové.13 Také svou matku Maaku zbavil jejího královského postavení za to, že udělala nestvůrnou modlu pro Ašéru. Ása její nestvůrnou modlu podťal a spálil v Kidrónském úvalu.14 I když nebyla odstraněna posvátná návrší, přece bylo srdce Ásovo po všechny jeho dny cele při Hospodinu.15 Svaté dary svého otce i své svaté dary, stříbro, zlato a různé předměty, přinesl do Hospodinova domu. 16 Válka mezi Ásou a Baešou, králem izraelským, trvala po všechny jejich dny.17 Izraelský král Baeša vytáhl proti Judsku. Nuže, zruš svou smlouvu s izraelským králem Baešou, ať ode mne odtáhne.“20 Ben-hadad krále Ásu uposlechl a poslal velitele se svými vojsky proti izraelským městům. Vybil Ijón, Ábel-bét-maaku, celý Kinerót a celou zemi Neftalí.21 Když to Baeša uslyšel, přestal stavět Rámu. Sídlil v Tirse.22 Král Ása vyzval celé Judsko, všechny bez výjimky, aby z Rámy odnášeli kámen a dřevo, z nichž stavěl Baeša. Král Ása z toho vystavěl Gebu Benjamínovu a Mispu. 23 O všech ostatních příbězích Ásových, o všech jeho bohatýrských činech, o všem, co konal, i o městech, která vystavěl, se píše, jak známo, v Knize letopisů králů judských; pouze ve stáří byl nemocen na nohy.24 I ulehl Ása ke svým otcům a byl pohřben vedle svých otců v městě svého otce Davida. Po něm se stal králem jeho syn Jóšafat.

25 V druhém roce vlády judského krále Ásy se stal králem nad Izraelem Nádab, syn Jarobeámův. Kraloval nad Izraelem dva roky.26 Dopouštěl se toho, co je zlé v Hospodinových očích. Chodil po cestě svého otce, v jeho hříchu, jímž svedl k hříchu Izraele.27 Proti němu zosnoval spiknutí Baeša, syn Achijášův, z domu Isacharova. V Gibetónu, který patří Pelištejcům, ho Baeša zabil. Nádab a všechen Izrael totiž Gibetón obléhali.28 Baeša ho usmrtil v třetím roce vlády judského krále Ásy a kraloval místo něho.29 Když se ujal kralování, vybil všechen dům Jarobeámův, nezanechal Jarobeámovi nic, co mělo dech; vyhladil jej podle slova Hospodinova, které ohlásil skrze svého služebníka Achijáše Šíloského.30 To pro Jarobeámovy hříchy, jichž se dopouštěl a jimiž svedl k hříchu Izraele, pro jeho urážky, jimiž urážel Hospodina, Boha Izraele. 31 O ostatních příbězích Nádabových, o všem, co konal, se píše, jak známo, v Knize letopisů králů izraelských.32 Válka mezi Ásou a izraelským králem Baešou trvala po všechny jejich dny.

33 V třetím roce vlády judského krále Ásy se stal králem nad celým Izraelem Baeša, syn Achijášův. Kraloval v Tirse dvacet čtyři roky.34Dopouštěl se toho, co je zlé v Hospodinových očích. Chodil po cestě Jarobeámově, v jeho hříchu, jímž svedl k hříchu Izraele.

9In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah,10and he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.11And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as David his father had done. (2Pa 14,2)12He put away the male cult prostitutes out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. (1Kr 14,24; 2Pa 15,8)13He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother because she had made an abominable image for Asherah. And Asa cut down her image and burned it at the brook Kidron. (Ex 32,20; 2Pa 15,16)14But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was wholly true to the Lord all his days. (1Kr 15,32)17Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might permit no one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. Nadab Reigns in Israel
25Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. (1Kr 14,20)26He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin which he made Israel to sin. (1Kr 12,30; 1Kr 14,16; 1Kr 15,30; 1Kr 15,34)27Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him. And Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon. (Jz 19,44; Jz 21,23; 1Kr 14,14; 1Kr 16,15)28So Baasha killed him in the third year of Asa king of Judah and reigned in his place.29And as soon as he was king, he killed all the house of Jeroboam. He left to the house of Jeroboam not one that breathed, until he had destroyed it, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite. 33In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah began to reign over all Israel at Tirzah, and he reigned twenty-four years.34He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin which he made Israel to sin. (1Kr 15,26)
