SLYŠTE TO, VŠICHNI LIDÉ

1 Pro předního zpěváka. Pro Kórachovce, žalm. 2 Slyšte to, všichni lidé, všichni obyvatelé světa, naslouchejte, 3 ať jste rodu prostého anebo urození, boháči i ubožáci. 4 Moje ústa budou vyhlašovat moudrost, mé srdce bude rozjímat o rozumnosti. 5 Nakloním své ucho ku příslovím, při citeře předložím svou hádanku i výklad. 6 Proč bych se bál ve zlých dnech, když mě obklopují zvrhlí záškodníci, 7 kteří spoléhají na své jmění a svým velkým bohatstvím se chlubí? 8 Nikdo nevykoupí ani bratra, není schopen vyplatit Bohu sám sebe. 9 Výkupné za lidský život je tak velké, že se každý musí provždy zříci toho, 10 že by natrvalo, neustále žil a nedočkal se zkázy. 11 Vždyť vidí, že umírají moudří, hynou stejně jako hlupák nebo tupec a své jmění zanechají jiným. 12 Ti však myslí, že tu jejich domy budou věčně, jejich příbytky po všechna pokolení, svými jmény nazývají role. 13 Ale člověk, byť byl ve cti, nemusí ani noc přečkat; podobá se zvířatům, jež zajdou. 14 To je cesta těch, kdo bláznovství se drží; za nimi jdou ti, kdo si libují v jejich řečech. -Sela- 15 Ženou se jak ovce do podsvětí, sama smrt je pase. Zrána je pošlapou lidé přímí, a co vytvořili, zhltne podsvětí, trvání to nemá. 16 Avšak mne Bůh ze spárů podsvětí vykoupí, on mě přijme! -Sela- 17 Jen se neboj, bohatne-li někdo a množí-li slávu svého domu; 18 zemře, nic nevezme s sebou, jeho sláva za ním nesestoupí. 19 I když zaživa si dobrořečil: „Chválí tě, že sis to zařídil tak dobře,“ 20 musí se přidat k pokolení svých otců, kteří nikdy nezahlédnou světlo. 21 Člověk, byť byl ve cti, nemusí mít rozum, podobá se zvířatům, jež zajdou. - Sela-

1 Přednímu kantoru z synů Chóre, žalm. 2 Slyšte to všickni národové, pozorujte všickni obyvatelé zemští. 3 Tak z lidu obecného, jako z povýšených, tak bohatý, jako chudý. 4 Ústa má mluviti budou moudrost, a přemyšlování srdce mého rozumnost. 5 Nakloním k přísloví ucha svého, a při harfě vykládati budu přípovídku svou. 6 I proč se báti mám ve dnech zlých, aby nepravost těch, kteříž mi na paty šlapají, mne obklíčiti měla? 7 Kteříž doufají v svá zboží, a množstvím bohatství svého se chlubí. 8 Žádný bratra svého nijakž vykoupiti nemůže, ani Bohu za něj dáti mzdy vyplacení, 9 (Neboť by velmi drahé musilo býti vyplacení duše jejich, protož nedovedeť toho na věky), 10 Aby živ byl věčně, a neviděl porušení. 11 Nebo se vídá, že i moudří umírají, blázen a hovadný člověk zaroveň hynou, zboží svého i cizím zanechávajíce. 12 Myšlení jejich jest, že domové jejich věční jsou, a příbytkové jejich od národu do pronárodu; pročež je po krajinách nazývají jmény svými. 13 Ale člověk v slávě netrvá, jsa podobný hovadům, kteráž hynou. 14 Taková snažnost jejich jest bláznovstvím při nich, však potomci jejich ústy svými to schvalují. Sélah. 15 Jako hovada v pekle skladeni budou, smrt je žráti bude, ale upřímí panovati budou nad nimi v jitře; způsob pak oněchno aby zvetšel, z příbytku svého octnou se v hrobě. 16 Ale Bůh vykoupí duši mou z moci pekla, když mne přijme. Sélah. 17 Neboj se, když by někdo zbohatl, a když by se rozmnožila sláva domu jeho. 18 Při smrti zajisté ničeho nevezme, aniž sstoupí za ním sláva jeho. 19 Ačťkoli duši své, pokudž jest živ, lahodí; k tomu chválí jej i jiní, když sobě čistě povoluje: 20 A však musí se odebrati za věkem otců svých, a na věky světla neuzří. [ (Psalms 49:21) Summou: Člověk jsa ve cti, neusrozumí-li sobě, bývá učiněn podobný hovadům, kteráž hynou. ]

Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world: 2 Both low and high, rich and poor, together. 3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding. 4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp. 5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about? 6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; 7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: 8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) 9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. 10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. 11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. 12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish. 13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Vergänglichkeit des Menschen und seine Aufnahme bei Gott

Ein Psalm der Korachiter. 2 Hört dies an, ihr Völker alle, vernehmt es, alle Bewohner der Welt, (Př 8,4) 3 ihr Leute aus dem Volk und vom Adel, Reiche und Arme zusammen! 4 Mein Mund spreche weise Worte; was mein Herz ersinnt, sei voller Einsicht. 5 Ich wende mein Ohr einem Sprichwort zu, ich enthülle mein Rätsel beim Leierspiel. (Ž 78,2) 6 Warum soll ich mich in bösen Tagen fürchten, wenn mich die Schuld meiner Tritte umgibt? 7 Sie verlassen sich ganz auf ihren Besitz und rühmen sich ihres großen Reichtums. 1 Ein Psalm der Korachiter, vorzusingen, nach der Weise »Jugend«. 2 Höret zu, alle Völker; merket auf, alle, die in dieser Zeit leben, 3 einfache Leute und Herren, Reich und Arm, miteinander! 4 Mein Mund soll Weisheit reden, und was mein Herz sagt, soll verständig sein. 5 Ich will einem Spruch mein Ohr neigen und mein Rätsel kundtun beim Klang der Harfe. 6 Warum sollte ich mich fürchten in bösen Tagen, wenn mich die Missetat meiner Widersacher umgibt, 7 die sich verlassen auf Hab und Gut und pochen auf ihren großen Reichtum? 8 Kann doch keiner einen andern auslösen oder für ihn an Gott ein Sühnegeld geben (Mi 6,6; Mt 16,26) 9 – denn es kostet zu viel, ihr Leben auszulösen; er muss davon abstehen ewiglich –, 10 dass er immer weiterlebe und die Grube nicht sehe. 11 Denn man wird sehen: Auch die Weisen sterben, / so wie die Toren und Narren umkommen; sie müssen ihr Gut andern lassen.
